The utterly bizarre thing about the salad was, I normally eat the same lunch which is a plain yogurt with berries, seeds etc but I had been to the gym and all I could think about on the drive home was “I must eat egg”! - almost like a pregnancy craving. So anyway, I assumed, well, I’ve just done weights, maybe my body is craving protein.

And so it was really weird to feel quite so awful afterwards!

ShiftAMountain · 26/10/2024 17:08

End of my first day after a 5mg dose. No bad side effects, really. Maybe a tiny bit of nausea last night but I forgot about it and fell asleep, so not that bad. However, the suppression today is like the first day on 2.5mg was. I am about to have a chicken salad just to eat something - so far I've had quite an active day on a coffee and half a slice of fresh bread that someone wanted me to taste. I could quite easily not eat at all, I think - but feel like I should try to eat something.

I am a long way from maintenance so I don't have to worry about it for another year (I think) but I love how freeing this feels - the whole day just getting on with things with a focussed mind that isn't distracted by food thoughts all the time.

Week 5 of 2.5mg - and suddenly have side effects! Feel quite nauseous and have diarrhea🤢. I am flying to Paris with work next week and hope this has settled by then.

Worried about moving up to 5mg on Thursday.

I have now lost a stone in just over four weeks but I don’t think I look any different. Some clothes are a bit looser but that’s about it!

@Bellyblueboy did you eat anything different this week or a larger portion? More dairy than usual? Kept up a good water intake daily?

Are you doing measurements as well as weighing? I think clothes being looser is a fabulous thing to celebrate. This is just the start. :)

Hope this is a blip and you are fine and dandy soon.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 26/10/2024 21:28

I’m halfway through week 2 of 5ml dose and it’s had no real impact at all. My appetite and particularly comfort/boredom eating has returned. I lost 9 pounds in the first 5 weeks but this week has gone awry it feels. Has anyone else had this?

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 26/10/2024 22:34

Darkbutstarrynight · 26/10/2024 11:26

Just found you on here but started 4 weeks ago too .....4 week weigh in this morning and have lost 16.25 lbs. Only about 5 stone to go!! Took bonus dose and got around 0.8 with the syringe which will hopefully be a good interim level ready for the 5 pen next week

That's amazing! You know you can stay on 2.5 if you're still losing?

Darkbutstarrynight · 26/10/2024 22:42

@TryingAgainAgainAgain Thanks! Definitely struggled more last week but maybe as we were away, so have tried an increase through the bonus dose. Got the 5.pen already as was the same price so thought I'd see how I go. Bit nauseous earlier today but seems to have settled

Cocoaone · 27/10/2024 06:55

Welcome @Darkbutstarrynight! Great loss in a month.

@Mydoghealsmyheart - no experience but sounds disheartening. 9lbs in 5 weeks is still within the normal 1-2lb a week range, but it might be that you're one of the unluckier ones who has to wait for the higher doses to see more of an impact from the drug. On the plus side - at least you aren't suffering with bad side effects. Are you getting plenty of protein and water?

I took my 5th dose last night - went up to 2.5 from 2 as I found the hunger levels increasing this week, but still lost 2.8lb. I've just remembered that I started my period, which might account for the hunger. We'll see how this week goes. Didn't take the bonus dose as my first pen delivery was delayed and arrived warm, and it's been over 30 days since I first used it and didn't want to risk it.

I've ordered a walking pad which I'm excited about. I walk the dog everyday but only a couple of miles and my job is very sedentary, so I'm hoping to top up my steps and get the kids using it too. I want to start using some weights too, but I HATE lifting with a passion. I find it so boring (and hard!)

Theredjellybean · 27/10/2024 07:28

@Tipster100 ..I definitely get nauseous a few hrs after eating anything "fatty".
I had lasagne a few night ago...and I'm eating a quarter of a serving...but woke in the night feeling awful and had diarrhea the next day.
Alcohol having the same affect

Jabberwokie · 27/10/2024 08:18

Mydoghealsmyheart, that is disappointing. Maybe it’s just a blip. I’m only 4 weeks in and haven’t had any issues so far, but perhaps it’s just part of the journey?

Cocoaone, will your provider replace the pen? They should do if it was delivered late.

I took my bonus dose using a syringe yesterday. I’m not sure what dose I managed to get, but I’m assuming it was somewhere between 2.5 and 5. I did have some indigestion and sulphur burps for the rest of the day, but it wasn’t too bad.

I had my 4th weigh in this morning and, unbelievably, I’ve lost 4lbs, which is my largest weekly loss. That makes a total of 11 lbs altogether, which I am very happy with. I think I’ll need to ensure I don’t lose weight too quickly, as I’m a bit of an old bird and have a lot to lose, so am concerned about loose skin.

I’m currently 14st 4lbs, so have at least 4st more to lose, but I can see and feel the difference already, particularly in my face and around my tummy. My clothes are noticeably looser and I’m eying up those size 16s which came down from the loft last week. They are too tight at the moment, but another half a stone should do it with some of them.

it all makes me very happy indeed 💃💃💃.

good luck for the coming week everyone.

Menstruating ladies please help!

How much weight do you usually retain before / during your period and how quickly does it come off again?

Before my second baby I used to retain maybe 2-3lbs and it came off roughly day 1 / day 2 of period. I've noticed this time around (5 months PP) I retain a lot more and it seems to take a good few days afterwards to come off. Just wondering what other people have experienced?

JustWalkingTheDogs · 27/10/2024 16:38

Feeling a little more nauseous in 5mg but if that's all the side effects I get I'm happy with that.

I'm not getting that shaky, feeling feint feeling when I'm hungry now which is great.

Losses are slow and steady. Still only 1lb a week, but as long as I'm losing I'm happy

Cocoaone · 27/10/2024 16:59

@peonym usually the same for me - 2/3lbs and off a few days after starting. But I haven't noticed it this month, but weeing much more so I don't think the fluid has much time to hang around. And I'm eating less salt, I think.

Snapespeare · 28/10/2024 07:12

Up to 5 on Saturday night, felt a bit queasy yesterday, but v good suppression...scales today show the same as last week, so I'm glad I've gone up..feel thinner than last week though. Hopeful scales will play along for next week's weigh in..

ChubbyMcChubfest · 28/10/2024 07:48

Joining you all in posting about my progress having taken my 5th (bonus) dose on Sunday. I should have taken it on Saturday but we were abroad, so I was really pleased to still have pretty good appetite suppression on day 9 since my 4th jab.

I think I'm going to order another 2.5ml pen as I'm losing weight and the appetite suppression is there. I'm just worried about the food noise and appetite coming back when I'm mid-new pen, so I might post separately about that, before I place my order later.

SW: 15st 3lb
CW: 14st 6.75lb
GW: I can't fix on a weight in my mind as it seems so far off but probably 9st 7lb to 10st 7lb.
Total loss to date: 10.25lb
I'm 5ft 4" and 46 yes, perimenopausal.

I'm really pleased I managed to lose 1lb this week, despite having been on an All Inclusive holiday for a week. I was able to make mostly very good choices, with probably most of my calories coming from drinking Sprite or Sprite with strawberry syrup in it! Not something I'd ever waste calories on if I was at home. My clothes have felt looser which really surprised me as I'd usually need a bigger loss. Jeans that were getting uber tight on my stomach now feel a bit loose on waist and thigh, and the shorts I wore in August were definitely looser in both areas too. I think I might be a size 18 now, instead of a 20 pushing upwards when I started.

Good luck to all of you going into the second month on Mounjaro. I'm really interested in seeing how people get on with the 5mg dose.

Yesterday was the end of week 4 on 2.5mg. Have now started 5mg. Bit of mild nausea but nothing too bad, excellent appetite suppression (but I did have that on 2.5mg too). NSV is definitely the reduced alcohol intake, I'm a big drinker, always have been, but I'm finding I'm not interested and can have a couple here and there and I'm satisfied.

SW 84.2kg (13.25 st)

End of week 4 - 78.4kg (12.34st)

Loss 1kg (2.2pd)

Total Loss to Date 5.8kg (12.78pd)

GW 62kg (9.76st)

Thanks so much @Cocoaone and @10storeylovesong good to know

I've just had a health MOT and the results were interesting. I've high blood pressure (which I already knew and am controlling via tablets since giving birth), high BMI (of course!), decent heart health except for low "good" cholesterol (need to buy some seeds!) and interestingly a couple of hormonal abnormalities. Repeat testing in 6 months so hopefully will have better results for BP and BMI with the weight loss.

Well done @10storeylovesong - it's amazing what a confidence boost can do to brighten your day. Smile

Suppression on 5mg is kicking my butt a bit now. I can eat but I feel so overfull afterwards - even eating exactly the same small meals I have been up to now is making me feel stuffed and bloated.

I've also been pretty fatigued the last couple of days but it's hard to know if that's a direct effect of the drug or a knock on from not quite eating enough.

I think I'll see how the rest of the week goes but may be dialing next week's dose back a little bit to 3.75mg.

Well it’s not relevant to the weight loss but certainly a reason to keep at it, my partner proposed to me up a fell this afternoon! Something specific to aim for now!

Cocoaone · 28/10/2024 18:08

Congratulations @FelicityBeedle! Amazing news. When are you thinking of getting married?

And well done to @10storeylovesong. Its so lovely to get a compliment like that

@ShiftAMountain That's how I felt for the first couple of weeks on 2.5. I went down to 1.25 for the third week and then back up to 2 in week 4 and it was much better. I'm finally back to 2.5 for week 5. I definitely think my body needs to go low and slow on this medication
