First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

Catching up with the thread- well done everyone on your losses-it is so inspiring and for the first time in a very long time I actually believe there is hope that I can realistically loose a lot of weight and feel much healthier!

i am day 3 of week 3.
i have been lucky with good suppression and no real side effects. This week my BMI fell under 40 for the first time in many years.
Now trying to decide which provider to order my second pen. Think I might stick with 2.5 as I have a lot of weight to loose so dont want to increase too quickly.

Well done everyone, I'm really enjoying reading about everyone's experiences as we're all on such similar journeys, I'm finding it so helpful!
I took my 3rd jab last night and have just done my second weigh in.
I have lost another 2lbs this week bringing my total loss to 7lbs. Half a stone off! That feels fantastic! I'm hoping I'll start to notice clothes feeling looser soon, not got there yet.
I've eaten an average of 1141 cals per day according to my app, which feels reasonable. I'm trying to focus on protein rich foods, less carbs and plenty of fresh fruit and veg. I'm definitely eating much better than normal although it is hard getting as much protein as I'd like.
No real side affects so far, slightly disturbed sleep and a slightly upset tummy twice this week, bit other than that all OK. Finding it very easy to stick to healthy choices, no craving unhealthy foods, also not struggling to eat the good stuff either. All in all I'd say it's working exactly how I'd hope for it to work so far, it's wonderful!
Good luck everyone, we're all going to be so slim and healthy soon, can't wait! 😁

BMI under 40 - what a milestone! That is fantastic well done.

Shudacudawuda · 19/10/2024 08:51

What provider is everyone using? I ordered my first pen from Medexpress but am wondering about switching to a supplier with a clear maintenance plan - have been looking at Oushk.
My BMI is now already under 30 so I worry about leaving it too late to switch. I don't want to reach target and then have all support withdrawn straight away......the thought really scares me.
Interested in hearing what others are planning.

I'm with Oushk. I'm only on first pen but first order was smooth. You can choose either royalmail or DPD and pick your delivery date which swung it for me.

They have a Facebook group run by oushk and they do pretty regular discounts on there.

Have you found any with a maintenance plan yet? I've seen on the main fb groups that some let your bmi go down to 23 or others allow a monthly payment and if you bmi rises they then re prescribe. However name of the company not always mentioned.
I definitely would like a long term maint plan. The benefits other than weight loss I'm already seeing would be enough to keep me going on it.

Flumpaphone · 19/10/2024 09:06

Well the deed is done.

The injection was fine I read the instructions through about six times to get it right and then just quietly did it this morning on my own. I think I'd blown it up in my head to be a much bigger deal.

I waited until this morning as I couldn't resist a last plate full pie and chips on a Friday night Grin

Irrational me also thought of something goes wrong I'd rather be in a &e on a Saturday morning than a Friday night! Grin. Silly I know but that's the way my mind has been churning on this.

So now we wait

surreygirl1987 · 19/10/2024 09:16

Whoaaa! I only started the injection last Sunday morning. I just weighed myself (so it's only been 6 days) and I've lost 8 and a half lbs! I don't even feel like MJ been working on me yet but maybe I'm wrong. I have still felt hungry but maybe not as 'empty' as I usually would? Hard to know what is placebo and what is real! Anyway, taking my next injection this evening (moving forward 12 hours as I'd prefer to do it before bed) and am looking forward to seeing what happens next! It's also lovely not weighing myself every day but just weekly.

No but I'd like to know this too. A long way off for me, but I want to make sure I'm with the right company for when I get to that point.

I'm with Oushk as well - purely for being able to choose delivery date. I did see there's a maintainable plan option on the website although I've not looked into that yet.

Beckyb00s · 19/10/2024 09:19

Morning everyone. This is my third day of using Mounjaro and I am loving it. First day I had a banging headache all day, yesterday I felt slightly nauseous but I’ve woken up today and nothing. My appetite is completely suppressed, to be honest, since the day I took it I’m struggling to consume 1000 calories, I’m having to force myself to eat, the feeling of not constantly thinking about when my next meal is or what I can put in my mouth is amazing, I feel like a new person, I could actually cry, xx hope everyone else is feeling good x

Fizzleaway · 19/10/2024 09:24

Week 1 weigh in and I have lost 12lbs!!

yes yes I know most of that will be water weight but still pleased.

The only one I can see with a definite maintenance plan at the moment is Oushk so in the absence of any other recommendations I may switch to them.

Thanks @PickleSarnie I will have a look at the FB group too.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 19/10/2024 09:34

We are going abroad in January. If I start today, can I stop taking it before we go, or take the pen with me (altho it wont be refrigerated but we are away for 14 days).

letshavetea · 19/10/2024 09:41

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 - I’ve just bought a Frio wallet on Amazon for our forthcoming holiday. It may be over 30 degrees and I don’t want any risks to the pen. It works by running the cool pack in cold water - so much easier than freezer packs.
I’m planning to stay on 2.5 mg for another month and will increase on our return. I don’t plan to stop altogether as my side effects have been minimal (fingers crossed that continues).

Thanks. Will have a look. I am undecided as I want to enjoy the food and drink on holiday - its somewhere that is known for good food, and I accept that I might put on weight if I don't take it, but not sure about stopping and starting again 🤷‍♂️

Ilovepeanutbuttersandwiches · 19/10/2024 09:58

Amazing losses

Where people say it’s probably mostly water weight - what does that mean 🫣

day 6 here and I’m pretty sure when I weight myself tomorrow I won’t have lost anything 😵‍💫🤦🏻‍♀️

PickleSarnie · 19/10/2024 10:08

Wow!! Amazing losses. Well done!!

@Ilovepeanutbuttersandwiches I was actually wondering this yesterday so found out. This is why apparently:

""During the first few weeks of losing weight, a rapid drop is typical. In part, this is because when you initially cut calories, the body gets needed energy by releasing its stores of glycogen. Glycogen is a type of carbohydrate found in the muscles and the liver.
Glycogen is partly made of water. So when glycogen is burned for energy, it releases water, resulting in weight loss that's mostly water. But this effect is temporary." (By temporary it doesn't mean the weight loss is temporary, just the burning of glycogen)

I'm with IQ doctor and they seem to decide on a case by case basis. I really hope that more providers start offering clear maintenance plans soon. It worries me a lot that I might be spending all this money, only to gain again without the meds. I already eat really healthy and don't have many lifestyle changes to make. I got here by overeating. If I walk past the kitchen, I will eat. Yes, it's not a bar of chocolate but a handful of nuts or a pear but I'm very short so it adds up quickly alongside main meals. If I'm not near food, I think about food. If I could (afford to) be on MJ forever, I definitely would.

grumpymummy72 · 19/10/2024 11:24

May be a placebo effect, but made slimming world overnight oats for my first meal on MJ after a bedtime jab and only fancied half and not craving coffee. So weird.

almondmilk123 · 19/10/2024 11:32

I'm on Wegovy - there doesn't seem to be a thread for Wegovy - can I join this one?
took my first 0.25 jab on Friday, definitely less interested in food, few side effects, very hopeful.

thanks everyone.

Just sitting down now for the first time today to eat something.

I did a full Lidl shop this morning and our shopping was £20 cheaper than normal! I’m putting it down to buy less crap, because normally I’d buy more crisp, chocolate bars, sweets and just food in general but because I’m cutting back we don’t need as much.
