First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

Hello all. I've been reading and pondering for days, but it's a no brainer in the end as my full length photo has just confirmed I have lots of health issues and a BMI of 38. I have so mucn pain from joint issues I feel I am just existing. I keep losing the same 4kg and putting it back on, so I figured "Yes. I do need help with this. I am not going to beat myself up about ut, I am going to be kind to myself and make a positive change"

So I have just thanked myself for finally taking this action. I'm so nervous, but so proud of myself for taking this positive step for my health. So, I'm just waiting for the photo / ID to be approved and hopefully I shall have my prescription and be joining you all officially next week.

Thank you to all of you for your amazing stories (the good and bad) as that's what's really helped inform me and give me the push I need. ❤️

Edited to add: oh gosh, my order has been prescribed within 15 mins of uploading my photo and ID!

Great losses everyone, well done. We’ve got this! Interesting about the suppression wearing off. It started for me slightly last night. I had a protein shake this morning and I feel a lot better. For all the knobs out there that say this is the ‘easy way’ … when it comes to suppression wearing off this is where the hard work actually starts because we can’t just rely on the drug to do it for us. We still have to make choices.

I agree and I was under prepared for it this week if I'm honest with myself. Have a plan going into next week to ensure that healthy options are all that's available to me on those days.

W1 D2 today. No side effects except for occasional waves of queasiness yesterday but so far none today. I haven’t noticed anything different. I will say I’m being more mindful of what I eat as I’m scared if I eat something too sugary/fatty/too big a portion it will set off some unpleasant side effects, but I am absolutely still wanting them and wanting to eat.

Yesterday I ate what I normally eat. I had an oat milk cappuccino when I woke up, breakfast of coconut yoghurt, fruit and sugar free muesli around 10:45 (not unusual for me - I’m never normally hungry for breakfast first thing) and then work got busy and at 3:30 realised I was getting a bit peckish. Again, not unusual for me to eat later lunches when I have a late breakfast although I try to remember to not do it as it messes with my tea. I really, really wanted my protein flatbread filled with chicken, hummus and salad (my lunch of choice atm) but knew at that time it would fill me up and I wouldn’t want a proper tea, and I’d already took some salmon out the freezer. So I had some almonds and a packet of low calorie crisps - I had been absolutely craving those all day and trying to resist but I gave in about 4pm. I did a Pilates class and then bedtime for my toddler was an absolute sh*t show and he went to sleep far too late, so I just ended up having the chicken flatbread for tea as I was absolutely ravenous by this point and couldn’t wait for the salmon to cook!

So in terms of hunger and wanting to eat nothing has changed. I will say it’s that week of the month where I usually want to scoff anything and everything in sight (and was doing prior to taking the jab on Weds) and while I’ve been hungry and had cravings, I haven’t had it to that extent.

I know 2.5 is just the starting dose and not everyone feels the full effects right away, but I’d hoped to notice something. How long did it take everyone to notice the effects?

HansHolbein · 18/10/2024 10:43

@PatchworkSilver Well done and welcome! I also have 7st to lose. Feels impossible of course, but we’ll get there. Make sure you drinks tons today!

HansHolbein · 18/10/2024 10:48

@Mummy20213x0 I’ll be honest, I noticed the effects starting the next morning after doing the injection the night before at 2100.

D2 was yesterday for me and by the evening I was starting to get hungry. I did ignore it but this morning had a protein shake.

I think we just need to remember this is a starting dose and many people don’t notice anything at all. There is a sub on Reddit and lots of people are saying the same thing.

What about food noise, have you noticed that reducing?

Thanks, no the food noise is still there. I actually think I’m more aware of it since doing the jab as I’m constantly thinking “when will it stop”! I could easily just eat and eat and the only thing stopping me is the fear it will set off some worse side effects 🙁

Tiree1965 · 18/10/2024 11:00

Weighed in this morning and I've lost 6.2lb which I'm so happy about. Not had any noticeable side effects so far so fingers crossed for jab 2. I know it will slow down now but it's a real boost to see a number like that.

sushinelove · 18/10/2024 11:34

Weigh in this morning and 5lb loss for week 1
SW 16st
CW 15:9

2nd jag to do this afternoon and looking forward to a bit of suppression again. No real side effects so far, but did find myself hungry last night.

Pegsmum · 18/10/2024 11:40

2nd weigh in for me, 4.5lb off first week and 3.5 off last week so 8lb in two weeks, not as dramatic as some losses but very happy with that.

YummyCookie · 18/10/2024 12:35

Fizzleaway · 18/10/2024 07:39

@YummyCookie well done! Are you pleased ?

my first weigh in is tomorrow

Yes I’m mostly pleased. I have eaten more
this week than the week before. And I know I wouldn’t have lost this much without the MJ so that makes me feel better.

Well done to everyone on some great losses. I ordered the 5mg last night through Med express (same as last time) and it’s already been dispatched at 8am this morning. And I survived the dentist!

rockingbird · 18/10/2024 12:39

It's arrived 🙈 straight in the fridge. I plan to start this evening.. I'm going to meal plan and do measurements today.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/10/2024 12:40

MustLoveCats · 18/10/2024 08:58

I just weighed in this morning and have lost 3.8lb in the first week.
Will do my 2nd jab this evening.
Well done on the losses everyone

Well done. My first pen has been dispatched and should be here tomorrow. I used your code from the referrals thread, so thank you.

I’m on day 6, my aappetite is still suppressed, although I may feel a little hungrier, but not something I can’t ignore and keep making healthy choices. I find if I’m busy I don’t notice, and can forget to eat, but if not, then the boredom eating passes through my mind.

ive become slightly addicted to the whitworth dried fruit, mango, cranberries, prunes, mixed berries, it tastes incredibly sweet now and you only need a few. I keep them in the fridge and they are nice and chewy.

the odd thing for me, is previously when on a diet, I think if I can keep this up I will be x weight by x date. Now I’m like I know I will keep it up and it is just time to get to a healthy weight.

I was just saying to my friend last night that I realised when I was thinking ahead to my holiday next year I am subconsciously picturing myself being slim!

Like you I normally have a big plan of how much I will lose by xyz date but even with that in place I don't think I ever actually pictured myself being slim at the end as deep down I knew I would always have given up by then. For once in my life I actually feel positive that I can make a change.

Keepitup88 · 18/10/2024 12:59

I think I spoke too soon as today (4 days after taking my first dose) I am feeling a bit hungry again - not as much as usual tho !!

ClosingTime93 · 18/10/2024 13:44

Joining in. Been overweight for most of my adult life and it crept up to obesity after having two babies. Pen arrived this morning and I immediately had the first dose. About two hours later, the voice stopped. The one that constantly asks when I can have food next and just doesn't shut up about food all day long. It's always in my brain, a constant background noise. And it's gone! Just now, I had the fairly typical situation where my kids had lunch and I would normally be desperate and sweating buckets to finally get my meal in. I was preparing my lunch, not really fussed about it and my daughter asked for help with the toilet. Normally, this is a stressful situation. Leaving the food there to do something else when I can almost taste it! Today I went without thinking twice, helped her, and pretty much forgot about my lunch until I walked past the kitchen again.
I'm not deluded enough to think that I will always feel this way (neither on and especially not when off MJ again). But to even just feel like this once was actually mind-blowing. THIS is how others feel all the time apparently???

recklessgran · 18/10/2024 13:46

Ooh how exciting - it's here! I've put it in the fridge as up to neck in work and need to read instructions and everything. DH is enjoying all the bits that have to be recycled [he's anal about his recycling plant] and is stunned that one tiny pen needs a box a foot cubed!

HansHolbein · 18/10/2024 14:00

@ClosingTime93 Well done and welcome! Yes it’s fucking mind blowing!

HansHolbein · 18/10/2024 14:02

@Mummy20213x0 Totally understand. Things are definitely a little different for me today. I’m more aware of food. All I can say is make sure you get enough protein and keep drinking. Keep busy if you can. We are all here to support each other and we will get through this together.

HansHolbein · 18/10/2024 14:02

@recklessgran Eeeeeeee! Exciting! When you are you going to do it?

It's such a strange situation isn't it.
I've been on successful diets before where I didn't feel hungry (keto was amazing for me lost 9 stone) but I'd still think about food or get hangry at points. Now it's really just a fueling my body situation.

recklessgran · 18/10/2024 14:12

@HansHolbein I'm planning to do it tonight before I do to bed so 9ish perhaps?
I've got one of our DD's tonight for dinner so I'll wait until after she goes home.
I'm meeting another of our DD's [we have 5] for lunch tomorrow so I hope in a way that I can still eat something as not planning on telling the DD's about this at least until I see how it goes.

IlovetoKnitandRead · 18/10/2024 14:23

I am on Wk1 D4 (2.5mg) and am really not hungry today. I had acid refluxf or the first two days but that has settled. Today I am so cold and achy but luckily I can snuggle under the heated blanket in bed.
I had a Fast 800 recipe mackeral paté yesterday with salad and a slice of toast. I was still stuffed by tea time so had an M&S protein yogurt that was so so thick. It was ok taste wise but too thick (think spreadable consistency) Had errands to do this morning so I have only just eaten 2 poached eggs on a slice of rye bread. I popped to Aldi to get some of their protein puddings to try when I don't want to eat.
Great to have support from this thread as I still haven't told my husband and he hasn't noticed the big bruise on my belly😂

Evenstar · 18/10/2024 14:28

Just checking in to say I have lost 1.2 kg in my first week and just done my second injection. I think it’s gone well on the whole, I have noticed my appetite increasing again the last couple of days, but still not as much as usual. The reduction in joint and muscle pain and feeling calmer are amazing and unexpected.
