Oh I have health anxiety and spent the first night thinking I was going to die…. Spoiler alert I never and nearly 4 stone down since April feeling so much better

Gladicalled · 11/10/2024 20:39

Might be best to post on the forum for this. Quite a few posters have a habit of spreading misinformation about the jab. Which might make your anxiety worse.

I felt very nervous. I did my first one in my though and didn’t even feel it. I have done 6 jabs now and haven’t had any side effects but have lost 17lbs (might be more weigh day tomorrow).

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 20:39

@Changedasouting a kindred soul within the minute! 😂 AMAZING! I need all the deets if you don’t mind sharing? What was your start weight? How long have you been in it? So glad you’re still with us! 😆

@Gladicalled that’s amazing. How does it help you lose weight? I’ve heard you just don’t feel hungry and food becomes a bit ‘meh.’

You’ll be fine. It actually reduces inflammation in the body. I’ve never felt better. Been on it since May and up to 12.5mg. Lost 2.5 stone

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 20:44

Can I ask what doses you are on also? Might take it just before bed then at least I will
hopefully sleep and not freak out for hours!

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 20:44

@Pyjamatimenow oh wow I’ve only got 2.5!! Is that enough?!

@Imjustlikeyou I'd report your own opening post using the Report option and ask for it to be moved to the Weight Loss Treatment/Injections board. Posts about these injections in the general sections can attract people who post misinformation or simple hate.

I'd recommend reading about what to expect when taking Mounjaro from the information sent to you by your prescriber. That should explain how it works and what effects it should have.

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 20:47

Hi @SilenceInside ok thanks I will do. I didn’t realise there was a forum for it tbh! I have read through all the leaflet and know what to expect just after some first hand experiences but I’ll ask for it moved. Thanks!

You really need to read the information that was sent to you about the process of taking Mounjaro.

As a quick summary - everyone starts on 2.5mg. You take that weekly for four weeks. You may not lose weight during this time, it's to get your body used to the drug acting. Then you can move up to 5mg for another 4 weeks, but if you had side effects or too much appetite suppression on 2.5 mg you can stay on that dose for another 4 weeks. After 4 weeks on 5mg you can either stay on that dose or move up. That repeats every 4 weeks, the highest dose being 15mg.

I'm in my 15th week and on 7.5mg.

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 20:51

@SilenceInside ok thanks. Does it cost more the higher the dose? Presume so….

Take the injection and get into bed, that's what I do.

Yes it does. You do have to start on 2.5 and build if you need to.

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 20:54

I just took the first dose. Although think I sprayed half of it into the air first 🙄

YeezyBreezy · 11/10/2024 20:55

Due to injuries and covid lockdowns I gained 3 stone since the start of 2020.

I used it at 2.5mg for 2 month to kick start my weight loss and lost 21lbs between April - June. I didn’t up the dosage and quit once I got control of my eating habits.

I stopped taking it in early July and through calorie control and sensible exercise I’ve lost another 2 stone.

I feel fantastic, I’ve completely overhauled my lifestyle and it just gave me the initial push I needed to do it. I’ve gone from 176lbs and a size 16 to 130lbs since April and I’m now a size 10-12.

It worked for me but it isn’t a miracle cure, it only works if you’re in the right mindset and willing to put in the work to exercise too and change your eating habits.

You need to be prepared to keep up the healthy eating and exercise once you stop for it to make a difference.

I wish you lots of luck!

@Gladicalled that’s amazing. How does it help you lose weight? I’ve heard you just don’t feel hungry and food becomes a bit ‘meh.’

For me it’s impacted quite a few things. Yes I feel less hungry, but also think about food less. I was one of these people that was constantly thinking about food, what I should eat what I shouldn’t eat, when I could eat, what food was in the cupboard, going through the food in the cupboard in my mind convincing myself I could eat this or I shouldn’t eat that, how greedy I was for wanting more food, how I hated myself for obsessing about food and so on.

All that’s gone. Yes my appetite is suppressed. But without the constant monologue regarding food my head feels a lot clearer. I have far more energy this last 10 days, I am being far more productive and more active. I used to be so wiped out at the end of a work day all I could do was sit in a quiet room. Now I feel normal and go for a walk after work.

I have found myself wanting to eat better food. You need to eat plenty of fibre and protein and have a varied diets and I am actually enjoying making healthy nutritious food and enjoying eating it. So I would say I don’t feel meh about food. But I am not obsessed it and enjoying eating for health.

Remember not everyone gets suppression or any impact from the first 4 doses. Sometimes it needs to build up in your system. So don’t worry if you don’t get suppression straight away.

Also I have a lot to lose. So the initial weight loss will be quite a bit. I expect it to settle as 1-2lbs a week.

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 21:04

Thank you both for sharing your experience 🙂

@Imjustlikeyou was the spray when you were priming the pen and needle, or when you were actually injecting?

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 21:25

Priming. I was checking it was going to come out so pressed it and it squirted out, then I was like shit is there any left and pressed it again and it squirted out again 😂😂 then I injected it… there was a drop on my stomach after though so hopefully some went in. I know for next time!

Have you read the instructions properly? You’re supposed to do 2 clicks to prime initially, when your pen is back to zero you click it to 1.

Imjustlikeyou · 11/10/2024 21:47

@WiserOlderElf mine doesn’t say that

Ah they’re Wegovy instructions, apologies I thought from your title that you were taking Mounjaro.

Gladicalled · 11/10/2024 21:57

Op are you taking wegovy?

My responses are in relation to Mounjaro.

SilenceInside · 11/10/2024 21:59

@Imjustlikeyou that's instructions for Wegovy, you said you were taking Mounjaro! Everything I've said relates only to Mounjaro. Please tell me you know what drug you're actually taking.
