TheShellBeach · 09/10/2024 22:13

Heavens, give it a chance.

And don't forget that the 2.5mg dose is just to get your body used to tirzepatide. The 5mg dose is the treatment dose.

ItsAlrightDarling · 09/10/2024 22:13

You’re a day in, on the starter dose which is only designed to get your body used to it and isn’t a therapeutic dose. I’d give it a bit longer before you decide it isn’t working.

TiredOfNames · 09/10/2024 22:14

Give it time. It should work. Many don't feel much the first day or even first week or month. Yours may start tomorrow or next. You've only just started and you're on 2.5mg which isn't guaranteed to do anything besides let your body get used to the medication before you go on 5mg. It works for some but for others, they only start seeing results when they go up the dose(s). 🙂

SilenceInside · 09/10/2024 22:14

You only started yesterday. It's working, it takes from 8 to 72 hours to be taken up after the injection to begin with. Also, the starting 2.5mg dose is not meant to necessarily produce weight loss - it's to get your body used to the drug and to start to build the levels in your system. For some people it might take all 4 weeks of 2.5mg before you start feeling the full effects. It's a long process not a quick fix, you should expect to be doing these injections for several months, it's not a short term process. Patience!

CandyLeBonBon · 09/10/2024 22:35

Blimey it took 10 days before I noticed anything on that dose!

Jochef · 09/10/2024 22:45

It does work, give it time 👍🏻

TitsInAbsentia · 09/10/2024 22:47

You will need to change your attitude or you are in for a rough ride! You need at least 4 weeks to start feeling any change.

healthybychristmas · 09/10/2024 23:23

Give it some time but in the meantime don't eat rich food in the evening is my advice! It's had an immediate effect on me and I'm pretty certain it will happen to you soon.

LastTimeLosingIt · 09/10/2024 23:24

Jeez.

Flugelb1nder · 10/10/2024 10:10

Aww dont be hard on the OP, its hard to know what to expect when first starting

I just started yesterday and never expected anything much to happen overnight

Lets have patience OP we will get there x

IrisPallida · 10/10/2024 10:33

Are you expecting total appetite suppression? -Then you have been watching too many dishonest or simply very, very stupid instagrammers. Take this opportunity to do it right and this will work for you, but stay away from those that are just adding this as a new shiny bead to their necklace of crash dieting and disordered eating. Do not set yourself up to fail.

You SHOULD still feel hungry when it is time for a meal. You SHOULD still EAT all your meals making sure that you are calorie counting so that you are approx 500 calories under your TDEE (google, and work out what yours is). Make sure you are eating enough proper, good quality food to keep yourself healthy and for this to work long term.

What Mounjaro will help with is eating too much, snacking, cravings and motivation. Give it a chance. A very few people need to wait until they are on higher doses, but honestly, they are the rare exceptions. Take time to explore your own appetite on this drug and learn to listen to your body.

KitsyWitsy · 10/10/2024 12:03
Hmm
Peridot1 · 10/10/2024 12:05

The dose of 2.5 is a starter dose to get your body used to the medication. It takes time to build up in your system. For some people they feel the effects immediately. Others don’t. You have to trust the process. Even the next dose up doesn’t result in weight loss for some people.

FlappingMadly · 10/10/2024 12:15

I understand you’re fretting op because you’ve paid out money and really want it to work but give it time. You’ll suddenly feel it.

I get that, but I’d also hope that anyone taking what is quite a powerful medication would have read all the guidance, which clearly states that 2.5mg is a non therapeutic dose, designed to get your body used to it before moving up to the therapeutic doses.

I have read it
and as you say it’s a powerful medicine so I expected to feel at least ‘something’ not nothing at all
I wasn’t expecting to wake up 2st lighter

Then you’ll have seen that a lot of people don’t have any effects at 2.5mg, as it’s not a therapeutic dose.

Gladicalled · 11/10/2024 08:26

Op I understand the worry.

But I suggest you spend sometime really looking into Mounjaro, so you can manage your own expectations. Especially, around the first weeks of taking it.

The 2.5mg dose has no impact on a lot of people. It’s not really a therapeutic dose.

I don’t think you are alone. I see people, time and time again, expecting big things quite instantly and I think it can be upsetting and really disappointing for people. I think the high expectations can lead to more harm than good, especially emotionally.

FlappingMadly · 11/10/2024 08:34

I forgot to mention to jump on the October starters thread. Maybe you already have.

I started 5mg yesterday. I gained 4lb on the 2.5mg, trying to get the balance if macros right. I expect weight loss to start now, but didn't during the first month.

Mummysaf · 11/10/2024 08:07

Sorry, that's just to say it's not overnight magic, everyone is affected differently - some people feel it straight away, others take weeks to feel anything different. Just stick with it and take each day at a time. Also, I lost about 3lb in first 6 weeks which was miserable but things got better.
