Has anyone noticed that certain things just taste different or actually quite yucky now?

I've used sweetener in my coffee for years now, and this week, every time I have a coffee (max 2 a day) the after taste of sweetener is really chemically and yucky!

Anyone else experiencing the same?

I have had a really weird week.
I have had a strange, hunger type feeling in my tummy at odd times of the day, even though I am not hungry, no food noise and have eaten. It doesnt last long, it just comes and goes for a short period of time, it kind of reminds me of when I would diet in the past, its just like an empty tummy feeling. Really weird.
I have also been a bit wiped out, Its not MJ, I have been tweaking my HRT so have had all the symptoms of an incoming period, that then amounts to nothing...I hate all this perimeno crap.

So in trying to feel more energised and to stop this weird empty tummy feeling, I have increased my calories for a few days, just to see if it makes a difference.

I am on my 2nd week of 3.75mg after dropping back from 2 weeks of 5mg and nausea. Jab day on Monday, I cant decide whether to increase slightly or stay the same... decisions decisions🤔

I get the same hungry feeling! Like almost starving, like I could be sick I'm that hungry. But then it passes with something to drink!!

YES! I'm about to take my 2nd jab of 5mg. I have struggled to eat this week.

At 2.5, I was on about 1700 calories; from the bonus dose, I dropped to 1500, but this week (1st 5mg), I have been struggling to reach 1000—but I have and got the protein in, as I know I have to. I have had that rumbly tummy but have not fancied eating at all. Sometimes, I have not eaten until 2/3 p.m.!! BUT having jumped on the scales every day, despite vowing not to, I don't seem to have lost anything; in fact I may have put on a lb or two🙄

I was going to stay on 5 for another month, but not sure now, and I am absolutely shattered all the time!

Fuffedoff · 11/10/2024 14:08

Has anyone had any side effects towards the end of their week/before next jab?

Sulphur burps have started this morning and the only other time I had that was when I ate something v.v.fatty/greasy.

I've not eaten too much these past couple of days, maybe that's why.

I'm due to jab tomorrow.

weaseleyes · 11/10/2024 14:13

I'm on my 4th dose from my 5mg pen this week, and have been on 3.75 up till now. A couple of weeks ago I had two days of feeling really odd and queasy, so thought if it was the MJ I must still be responding quite strongly to a low dose. Then this week I had two days of feeling noticeably much hungrier - not ragingly so, but a shift. So I thought I might creep the dose up a little and went for 4.3 last night. Honestly, today I have a banging head, feel queasy and am still regretting breakfast. Dosage is so tricky! I might go for 3.9 next week 😀

MabelSpan · 11/10/2024 14:20

@Mum0ntherun @itwasnevermine I am so glad its not just me!
I delayed posting about it all week because I thought I was going doolally and imagining it!
My tummy certainly has a mind of its own at the moment and it bears no relation to what I have actually eaten!
MJ really has a nice dulling effect on my appetite in that I dont think, crave or need food 24/7. In fact if I wasnt logging everything I would probably not be bothered by food at all.
My hair is also struggling, its always been quite thin and shed a lot, it drives me mad finding my own hairs everywhere and them clogging the hoover, but it is noticibly thinner now, I went to put it up in a ponytail and was shocked by how little there was to grab!
So to add to my ever growing list of suppplements I have added a high dose biotin, I am not sure I believe it will do anything but I will give it a go, I am only taking it 3 times a week though as it is 10,000mcg which seems ridiculously high to me and we only wee out the excess! Time will tell as to whether it makes any difference to my diminishing lock!

Sorry you had such a rubbish response to trying, what I would consider, a perfectly sensible increase!
I was thinking about doing the same and trying 4.25mg on Monday from 3.75mg. Its such a balancing act for all of us and the differences between our responses to each dose/increase are huge too!

Why is it all so hard! 😁

weaseleyes · 11/10/2024 14:34

Ah well, it's still better than just another diet unassisted, I guess!

I'd try to tough it out more, but as I'm keen to stay on a low dose as long as I can due to still having loads to lose, I might creep back down. I'm clearly such a delicate flower... (looks askance at vast and sturdy acreage of midriff).

weaseleyes · 11/10/2024 14:38

And commiserations on hair. It will probably settle down, but it's still alarming. Mine hasn't been too bad so far (I do have a lot), but I remember the feeling after giving birth when it started coming away in clumps and it was sickening.

Re the empty feeling, I think it's easy to forget that even though we don't feel hungry, our bodies are still underfed and having to manage on at least a bit less than they need - because that's what a diet is. Maybe the physical reality just breaks through now and then!

MabelSpan · 11/10/2024 14:50

@weaseleyes thank you, hopefully the hair will sort itself out in time. We sound pretty similar in wanting to stay on lowest dose for as long as possible and having loads to go. I have the weight of a 2 month old foal to lose apparently! Thats cheery isnt it!😂
I dont mind having the odd moment of feeling a bit hungry because now, when combined with MJ, there is no desperate craving attached to it so I can just shrug it off and keep going.
Onwards we shall go, tweaking all the way!😊

Pinkjenny · 11/10/2024 14:59

I've taken my 4th 5mg this morning ( a day early) as I'm busy this weekend. I tend to feel a little nauseous on day 2/3 but other than that, I've been largely fine. Bonus next week and then I'm going up to 7.5mg. I've lost 21lb in 7 weeks, 16lb to go. I'm hoping that I won't need to go up to 10mg but we'll see.

My hair, around the hairline, which is thankfully not on show, is markedly thinner, despite me taking a biotin. Hoping that settles down!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2024 14:59

This is well weird

Some of you have and mentioned irregular bleeding

I haven't had a period since July - but I'm 51 so was going to come to an end soon

Many Friends stopped at 40/45/

I was always 28 days Fri weirdly enough

Went for a wee and wiped (tmi sorry)

And some blood - not a lot

So first period for 4mths - I know this is prob Normal for menopause but seems weird I've semi started again.

@Mum0ntherun sorry for gain 💐

@Fuffedoff no generally not

Looking for says to my clean bed tonight !!

@weaseleyes sorry such a small increase give you bad symptom's 🥲💐

@Blondeshavemorefun I don't think I truly am hungry though - because it can happen after I've eaten. I think it's just funny feelings as my stomach shrinks.

I'm perimenopausal - symptoms started 2 years ago (am 56). My Dr recommended a coil due to heavy bleeding (it didn't totally stop the periods 🙄 )- I can go months and months with nothing and then have a little bleed for a few days. Nothing to do with MJ at all for me. Just keep an eye on things @Blondeshavemorefun

Also @MabelSpan , I lost MASSES of hair before I went onto HRT—at least 40%. Fortunately, I do have masses of hair, so it was not too bad, but it was still upsetting for me. The HRT has helped it grow back to normal, but the consistency is less 'swishy' than it was and more coarse. So your hair issue could be PM, not MJ, maybe. We sound similar - I have a lot to lose and don't want to go up too quickly in case I can't get to a decent weight!

It is so hard to dissect the things we go through as women to know what the reason is.

MargoLivebetter · 11/10/2024 15:59

@Blondeshavemorefun I am definitely done in the period department now (55) but in the last few years before they stopped completely they got increasingly spaced out (after having got closer and heavier before that). I used to have a period every 3-4 months and then it extended further to every 4-5 months and in the last year I had two and then none for the last two years.

When you lose weight you metabolise all the hormones in the stored fat you are burning and that does sometimes mess with some women's cycles too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2024 16:15

@MargoLivebetter sound like it's my first one 4mths after so normal

Nothing to do with mj

Week 8 weigh in and 3lbs gone.

SW 19 st 0lbs
CW 16st 4lbs

Sticking with 5mg this month due to side effects although it's improved over the course of the month thankfully!

@Mum0ntherun Yes, its probably a combination of a lot of things, I am on HRT , thank god! My hair has always been on the thinnger side and shed at the drop of a hat, its rubbish! My mum has thin hair too so I think its just the luck of my genetics but I will do all I can to try and stop it falling out, if only so it doesnt clog up the hoover so often!😊

And what is it with this site, I use an English/French/Swiss keyboard and for some bizarre reason it wont let me use an apostrophe, it turns it onto this [ and its very annoying🙄doesnt happen anywhere else!🤔
