What do you all plan to do for Christmas with your injections and food intake?

I’m going to continue with MJ.
I’ll still eat the usual Christmas food, just much much smaller portions. I won’t be my usual greedy self this year. I love Christmas, not just the food, watching Christmas movies, seeing family, decorating the house, wrapping up warm & going for festive walks round the neighbourhood, Christmas markets etc…. Life has got to be so much more than food, I’ve made a real commitment to lifestyle changes and I don’t intend Christmas to ruin all my efforts or money I’m spending on these jabs.

Thanks. That was my thoughts too but I'm not going to tell my family about the injections so it might be hard. I don't live with them so it'll be easy up until then but they're big eaters at Christmas.

@Midlifecrisisxamillion that makes it harder then, perhaps you can pretend you’re just getting over a stomach bug, although they’ll probably notice your weight loss! Especially if they’ve not seen you for awhile, can you just say you’re on a strict diet without mentioning the injections? Have you told anyone? My DH & adult children know, but I haven’t told my other family, but that’s partly because they’re all thin & just wouldn’t understand! I’ve not told any friends yet either. So far I’ve not lost enough to be noticeable, but hoping that changes over the next few months!!

No I've not told anyone and probably won't.

depending how things are going I might tweak my injection day or dose. Not so much so I can over eat, but more that Wednesday and Thursday are peak possible side effect days for me and I’d hate to have sulphur burps and/or upset tummy on Xmas day or Boxing Day or not feel like eating at all

Won't the side effects have lessened as time goes on?

I’ve been on it for 12 weeks or so and the effects seem to come and go but I often have a touch of sulphur burps on Wednesday afternoons. (Inject on a Tuesday). It’s manageable now but I can still feel a bit nauseous. And of course whenever I move up doses side effects can be worse and unpredictable. Sticking on 4mg for now as couldn’t tolerate 5mg but might need to move up again by Christmas I expect.

I'm planning to only get my calories from mince pies or cheese and crackers for the whole of December

On a serious note I'm just continuing as normal and not depriving myself of anything but will be calorie counting as usual

I think you’re asking a couple questions here:

Personally I’m not doing anything differently over Christmas - I’m continuing as I am on Mounjaro. I hope to reach my target in January so won’t be skipping any injections or eating more than usual over Christmas!

However I think you’re wanting to hide things? If you want to hide your weight loss, then maybe go for baggy clothes or some sort of jacket over your outfit. But then again, your family will notice your weight loss at some point as presumably you’re wanting to maintain your lower weight long term. I don’t think you should pretend to be unwell, they might think you lost weight due to being unwell. Maybe just set their expectations now by going on about fitness and dieting and going to the gym so naturally when Christmas comes they’re expecting you to diet or look different

Definitely not trying to hide weight loss - just the injections
