Fizzleaway · 07/10/2024 17:57

Iv just ordered Mounjaro and waiting for it to be delivered.

Iv been trying to look at old threads throughout the months to see how people are getting on and looking for before and after pictures.

I wondered if anyone would be happy to share their weight loss and length of time it took them to achieve that amount.

Height:
Start weight:
End weight:
length of time:

Before and after pics a bonus!

and yes, I know we all lose at different rates etc but it’s always good other peoples successes!

@Fizzleaway no! I see people clock in but most know it's now taboo to comment on women's bodies, so don't. I'd say maybe 5 people in total.

butterfly0404 · 08/10/2024 20:18

5ft 1in,
start weight 85kg, 13st 4pounds
Started MJ 22nd June
Current weight 72.2kg, 11st 3 pounds
Target weight 62kg, 9st 9pounds

My blood pressure has reduced massively, no longer Obese BMI, joint inflammation has reduced, anxiety has improved, asthma much better.... it's a bloody miracle drug!

Tohaveandtohold · 08/10/2024 20:28

This is such an amazing and encouraging thread and I love seeing all your results. I only started on Saturday and I can’t wait to see the result in months to come. Thank you all for sharing

Orangejellybaby · 09/10/2024 10:39

Has anyone had a negative experience with mounjaro? I took my first dose on Saturday morning. I checked my weight then and I was 18.5 stone when I started. The effects have been great so far, I'm eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, smaller portions than usual. No urge to snack at all in between meals, I'd say I've eaten 40% less than usual for me since Saturday. Jumped on the scales this morning just to check and I've put on 2lbs. I'm going to persevere with it and trust the process for long term goals but I have to I feel really disheartened today. Has this happened anyone else?

lookathatbookcase · 09/10/2024 10:51

@Orangejellybaby The first month of 2.5mg doses are non-therapeutic - they're meant to build up MJ in your system so that your body gets used to it at the higher doses. Perfectly normal not to see weight loss results yet. But I'd also check - are you monitoring calories intake over your week? and drinking enough water? Just because you're eating smaller meals doesn't mean that you're actually coming in at a calorie deficit.

GU24Mum · 09/10/2024 11:19

Has anyone taken Wegovy/Ozempic then swapped to MJ? I couldn't cope with the sickness on Wegovy but if MJ is different, would be tempted to try it. Thanks.

itwasnevermine · 09/10/2024 11:20

August to now. I've lost 30lbs, a lot more to go!

Are you calorie counting

MyPlumZebra · 09/10/2024 11:22

I started 8 weeks ago, i was 14st 4 i am now 13 st 1, i think its going slow, and everyone that starts MJ wants the weight to drop quickly, i don't feel different in clothes which is strange, not dropped to size lower on work trousers, so this is frustrating, but everyone different, did a face to face and yes can see there, I just want everything else to catch up, 'im sticking with it and will be a better version of me in a few months i hope 👌

I'm not calorie counting as such but I've made changes that I know from past experience with Slimming World that I would normally be dropping 2-3 lbs per week. For example I will have a slice of wholemeal toast with half a banana for breakfast, instead of 2 slices white bread with cheese and either soup or baked potato for lunch rather than pastries and crisps. The difference is in the past I'd be hungry in between meals which always led me back to snacking. I haven't felt hungry at all since my first dose, no urge to snack and I haven't finished a full meal since starting which is great. My dog is delighted 😁, he's getting loads of leftovers! I'm just surprised to have put weight on, but as I've said I will trust the process and stick with it. I definitely need to get more water in me too.

I started this week also, I found it’s helped me get back into low carb eating which i sometimes find a struggle. I have basically been eating some sort of meat and veg for dinner and a diet bar or shake during the day and that’s been enough. I would look Into fasting if I were you and cutting back on carbs , and definitely lots of water:) oh I’ve also upped my walking so help it along. What do you normally eat on a day ? X

gimmemounjaro · 09/10/2024 16:25

I echo the water advice and keeping an eye on calories and the walking. 2.5mg did almost nothing for me, I lost 4lbs in 4 weeks, compared to 12lbs in the next 4 weeks on 5mg. I would hang in there and give it at least a couple of months, preferably three.

Pickled21 · 10/10/2024 07:12

I am 5ft 4 and 14 stone 6. I had my second dose yesterday and will be getting on the scale today. The only side effect I have is waking up in the night to pee but hopefully that will reside as time goes on. I am eating much smaller portions, no snacks but I need to up the ante with the exercise. I do have to remind myself ro drink as I don't feel particularly thirsty on it. I'm prepared for a long journey as I've got a lot to lose to get to a healthy bmi. It's great to hear about all of your journeys, so encouraging!

I would strongly recommend that you track everything, at least in the early days, especially if you have been used to the SW volume-based approach to dieting in the past. You need to keep your protein up and it’s hard to do with high suppression.

ForGreyKoala · 10/10/2024 21:19

Oblomov24 · 07/10/2024 20:19

I had no idea that so many people were taking this to lose a few stone, who weren't that overweight to start with.

I was thinking the same thing!!!

Wegovypictures · 10/10/2024 21:31

ForGreyKoala · 10/10/2024 21:19

I was thinking the same thing!!!

But ‘a few stone’ is the difference between a healthy and an obese BMI for most heights, so it should be surprising.

I think lots of people think obesity is something that people only have if they are hugely overweight - the limit is closer than you think

HiThereBatFace · 10/10/2024 23:19

@Orangejellybaby you must track your food to get the best out of this experience. Don't just guess or do it haphazardly unless you have money to burn. With a starting weight of over 18 stone you should be seeing quite significant drops if you're working with the MJ and in a calorie deficit

Trusting the process is not expecting the drug to melt the weight away - quite a lot of effort and discipline is also required

Sorry to sound harsh but I'd hate for you to not get your money's worth

Hello

Always happy to share!

Good luck with your journey and feel free to ask any questions, can't say I'll be able to answer but happy to try

I'm 5 ft 4 (almost!) and I started in April weighing nearly 15 stone. I'm currently 9 st 11 and aiming for 9 stone 5 I think

Was a size 16 ish and now a size 10

Hello! That's really admirable progress, you look incredible!

Could I please ask what kind of exercise you've done whilst on Mounjaro?

Many thanks x

I agree that you should track everything and also what you say you’ve been eating is high carb and seems v low in protein so I would recommend you adjust things. There’s a risk of muscle loss on these kinds of medications, which is quite a big problem especially for future weight gain if you stop them. So that might help if you really up the protein and lower carbs. Nutracheck app is great I’ve found.

April88 · 11/10/2024 08:16

tolerable · 12/10/2024 06:01

wow.
but
what does it actually do? like do you feel noticeable different ?how does this work?

MJProgressPic · 12/10/2024 07:45

Mounjaro?
For me, it takes away the food noise in my head, so I'm not constantly thinking of what I'm going to eat next. I feel full for much longer. I now eat a meal and I don't get hungry again for hours, as I shouldn't. Whereas before I would be feeling hungry again very soon after and end up snacking.
It's completely changed my food tastes. I no longer eat chocolate or crisps as I just don't fancy them, and definitely don't crave them now. I crave fresh, clean food now: salads and protein mostly.
I noticed improvement in my body from when I lost the first stone, my knees no longer hurt walking up stairs for example.
I thought I would be obese for the rest of my life as I just couldn't sustain sticking to such an overhaul of my diet for long enough before. The food noise always won the battle.
I'm hoping that now I have new healthier food habits they'll be my new normal by the time I stop taking it.

LoquaciousPineapple · 12/10/2024 08:42

I'm not willing to share the exact numbers but Ive been using MJ for 23 weeks now and I've just hit the 4 stone (56lbs) loss mark today. My BMI is down about 10 points, although still very high.

For context: I was super heavy to begin with. My initial goal is to get to BMI 35 which would be around an 8 stone loss. Then maybe down to 30 (a 10 stone loss) after that.
