Iv just ordered Mounjaro and waiting for it to be delivered.

Iv been trying to look at old threads throughout the months to see how people are getting on and looking for before and after pictures.

I wondered if anyone would be happy to share their weight loss and length of time it took them to achieve that amount.

Height:
Start weight:
End weight:
length of time:

Before and after pics a bonus!

and yes, I know we all lose at different rates etc but it’s always good other peoples successes!

It's unavailable on the nhs to anyone in my area due to shortages apparently.

It’s unavailable on the NHS to pretty much everyone.

Ozempic is the most likely one through the NHS and even then there are lots of hoops to jump through before you’ll likely to have it prescribed.

Started mid-August at 14st (5'4''), and have lost 1 stone exactly. It feels slow compared to others on the same medication which is frustrating, but at the same time I don't want to increase dosage as I'm hoping a slower loss will be better in the long-run.

Previous to taking the meds I lost a stone and a half on WW, but it just stalled for about five months and wasn't shifting. This seems to have given an extra push and helps me stay on the WW plan.

Height: 5ft 4"
Start weight: 13st 3lbs
End weight: 10st 3lbs
length of time: 14 weeks

Another 7-10 lbs to go.

no pics, but I've gone from a 16-18 to a 12-14 in clothes. It's wonderful.

CesarSoubreyon · 08/10/2024 10:15

This is where I'm at, literally just hit 50% of my goal today. I've lost almost 25lbs in 7 weeks. I started at 76.4kg and am currently 65.7kg.

Hi, I had my first shot on Sunday, so great to read about how well people have done on this!

my current weight is 13.10. I’m 5’6. Looking to get to 11 stone. I would say It worked almost straight away, no hunger pains at all. Going to stick to healthy eating low carb plus some walking to help it along.

good luck on your journey.. would be Interested to see how well you do.

EasyComfortDishes · 08/10/2024 11:38

Can I ask those of you who are on it

  1. do you lose interest in lovely food and wine? Food and wine are pleasures of mine and some part of me would still want to enjoy a lovely meal/cheeseboard/glass of wine on special occasions or weekends! I am quite into simple pleasures/joyful moments and would struggle I think - however I thought I would feel the same way about smoking and of course I don’t miss it at all?

  2. in your opinion, is there an additional mechanism for how it works other than as appetite suppressant? I eat healthily and have done for a year, have lost 8kg but very slow. I’ve also been diagnosed with a growth hormone defect which makes it very difficult to lose weight despite exercising three times a week and eating well. I’m not particularly sure I want or need to eat less? Is there additional ways it could help?

thanks!

mumto2teenagers · 08/10/2024 11:41

I'm waiting for my first pen to arrive today. Really positive that everyone seems to be seeing results.

I'd rather not share my weight yet, but do have a lot of weight to lose.

I can take or leave nice food (I don't drink so I can't comment on that) so you would still be able to eat, say a nice cheese, but you would be able to stop after a little.

I believe it works on stabilizing your blood sugar and stuff. I used to be really slim until I got sick and my hormones got all messed up making me ravenously hungry all the time. The Mounjaro seems to have corrected that to the point where I only ever feel hungry just before meal times now.

  1. It just doesn't register anymore. I was obsessed with food it was my constant line of thought. What can I have for breakfast, when I go to the shoe shop what food outlets ate nearby? If I go cinema What sweets should I buy?
And it's just gone. I get to 2pm and think 'shit I need to eat!'

2- I think it helps in numerous ways but I have hashimotos and even when I stuck to diets in the past the weight was really stubborn but in 3 weeks I've lost 9lbs

gimmemounjaro · 08/10/2024 13:25

1) do you lose interest in lovely food and wine?

No, not in my experience. Actually, because I am eating less, I feel like every mouthful counts, so I don't mindlessly snack, I plan nutritious, tasty meals and savour them more than before. So I have lovely meals all the time (as I did before tbf), but it's more joyful in a way - in addition to the pleasure of the food itself I get pleasure from knowing I am treating my body with respect and from the feeling of being pleasantly full of lovely nutritious food.
I have had a few drinks on MJ with no ill effects, but I don't drink that much anyway.

2) in your opinion, is there an additional mechanism for how it works other than as appetite suppressant?

It also slows the digestive process so that you stay fuller for longer, which helps with snacking. And it has something to do with the action of insulin I think, I did look that up but can't remember the details. I thought at first it was just supposed to help me eat less, but there's definitely more to it than that. At the lower doses, as I got used to it, the weight loss tailed off, even though I wasn't eating any more.

If this would suit you, there is a nice thread for people with more than 5 stone to lose. (Many posters have a lot more than 5 stone to lose.) Very kind and supportive and I prefer it to the threads where people get to maintenance pretty quickly, not that there's anything wrong with that but just a very different experience.

I don't get it. I am the same height and weight as you are now. I want to get to 10st and am 11.3st atm. I have put on weight going on HRT and cannot shift it whatever I do. I am just into the overweight BMI but I wouldn't be able to get Mounjaro how can you still use below my declined weight?

No dig, just curious?

gimmemounjaro · 08/10/2024 15:27

@rewilded
Providers allow you to stay on MJ below the cutoff for starting, otherwise everyone would still be obese / overweight. I just asked MedExpress about this as I am at about BMI 31 so far - they say they will prescribe for up to 2 years, or until you reach BMI 23.5, which is at the higher end of healthy.

You can stay on it if you started it when you were obese. Different providers have different rules, but some will let you take a maintenance dose indefinitely.

HiThereBatFace · 08/10/2024 17:24

@rewilded I'm not sure what is tricky to understand? The medication is prescribed to those with a bmi of 30 + (some exceptions apply if you have co-morbidities and you may then be approved at a bmi of 27+)

You then check in with your prescriber once a month for an online review with updated weight etc and most prescribers will dispense until about BMI 23.5 ish, depending on a range of factors.

It's a journey really - you don't suddenly get cut off (as a rule)

But by rocking up with a BMI that doesn't put you as obese, no, you won't be approved in the first place

gimmemounjaro · 08/10/2024 17:50

@rewilded

She is 5'5" and started at 16 stone. It's taken her 6+ months to get to your weight. It's completely different from being half a stone over a healthy BMI, of course you wouldn't (and shouldn't) be prescribed weight loss medication.

unsync · 08/10/2024 18:16

Here's my current stats. I'm going quite slowly as I have a lot to lose and am working on sustainable changes. I'm also abroad at the moment which is slowing things down, but I'm OK with that. When I started, my BMI was mid 40s.

Oh I wish I was a fast loser!

Was 13st 5
Now 11st 5

5'6"

But it's taken me 6 months!!!!!!

ihatecoffee · 08/10/2024 20:11

Oblomov24 · 07/10/2024 20:19

I had no idea that so many people were taking this to lose a few stone, who weren't that overweight to start with.

You have to have a BMI of 30 with no conditions or 27 with certain conditions.
So yes most people are/were obese when they started!

Fizzleaway · 08/10/2024 20:15

Well done everyone! Great to see so many great journeys
