Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

I went with Oushk. You can choose delivery day - which is what swung it for me in the end. Although there's usually someone in my house - just wanted to make sure!

Mine arrives on Thursday. Quite excited - after realising I was even fatter than I thought when I stood on the scales today, it's actually made me even more determined. I know it's not all about the number on the scales but I think I've spent too long squishing myself into stretchy clothes and embracing denial!

I’m also fatter than I thought at 16st 8lbs! A stone heavier than I thought!

I feel horrendous, hiding under baggy jumpers and leggings. We go to the Bahamas next year in April and I would really love to feel slim and wear a bikini!! Felt fat for far to long now

OrbitingTheEarth · 07/10/2024 13:05

Room for one more? Pick up my Mountjaro tonight at 6pm and plan on injecting and being done with it. I am scared, nervous, worried the lot.

LolaLouise · 07/10/2024 13:17

I have reached a new level of crazy. I feel you all may understand

Since its been a whole 24 hours, i weighed myself, in what i thought was the same place on my bathroom floor. Only the scales said id gain FIVE WHOLE ENTIRE KILO'S!! Nope. Not a chance. Not having that, so i moved them around my bathroom till they said the same as they did when i initially weighed myself, then, THEN, i drew round the scales with a black sharpie, on my bathroom floor, as the floor is solid colour, no lines to line it up with.

Actual sharpie. On my actual floor.

PickleSarnie · 07/10/2024 13:17

I also have an April goal @Fizzleaway ! I have ski pants that I bought years ago when I was briefly slim-ish (or a lot less lardy at least) and they've not fitted me since. I don't actually think that even my big ski pants will fit me this year tbh, and I really don't think my knees will cope with all the excess weight.

So my goal is to fit into those ski pants - and comfortably this time as opposed to having to breath in and the fastener popping every time I get on a chairlift like they did the first (and only) time I wore them.

Good luck @OrbitingTheEarth !

PickleSarnie · 07/10/2024 13:19

😂That sounds like something I'd do @LolaLouise My scales make me 5 stone lighter when I use them on carpet!! Literally my goal weight in seconds!

Well it finally arrived at 12:45 and I've done my first injection straightaway as with missing the first delivery it had warmed up so I just wanted to get on with it. A bit nervous about headache side effects as I get dreadful migraines and I really can't face them getting any worse!

I have an app to track weight loss and need to lose something like 130lbs to have a healthy BMI! At 2lbs a week it'll take 62 weeks so I've got a very vague target date as I'm not sure that it will be a realistic target I've never weighed less than about 230lbs but time will tell I guess. I'm also a bit anxious that having so much to lose will result in loose skin. My dad had a gastric bypass years ago and lost about 15st in a year and his loose skin was awful.

Wildywondrous · 07/10/2024 13:58

@PickleSarnie Your stats aren't wildly different to how mine were, I'm an inch shorter and was just under 17 stone when I decided to do Wegovy last November, I'm also nearly 50.

It can feel very overwhelming and like you'll never do it but it's, dare I say, quite easy, I've done every single diet going over the years and they all work for a time but you need willpower and that's what these jabs are, they're liquid willpower.

I found that I could get on with life and not have to think about a diet, my portions naturally became much smaller and the urge to snack completely stopped.
The weight came off at around 10lbs a month without trying.

I've had the summer off, partly because of funds but also because I missed enjoying food and had a couple of holidays and a few social things coming up that I wanted to go to and enjoy.

I'm now back to lose the last chunk and will look forward to seeing how you get on.

How much did you lose when you started last November ? If you don’t mind me asking.

Fizzleaway · 07/10/2024 14:12

@PickleSarnie - April goes it is then! I’d like to lose 6 stone but we will see!

@LolaLouise - I have certain tile I put my scales on too…. Right in the corner at the bottom.. same place every time😂

EricTheGardener · 07/10/2024 14:22

Really interesting to read peoples' stats and clothes sizes - seen a few people saying they are 5'7" or 5'8" and somewhere around 16.5–17 stone and a size 16 or 18. I'm that height and about 16 stone and still wearing size 22 in most things! I guess that's what you get for being large cooking apple-shaped with massive boobs 😬

Unlikely but would love a change in overall shape as well as losing the weight. Don't really want to end up looking like a grapefruit on matchsticks.

PickleSarnie · 07/10/2024 14:40

@Wildywondrous that sounds reassuring that you haven't found it too hard. It's sooooo daunting right now but hoping I get into the swing of it. Doesn't help that my husband can eat and drink whatever he likes and probably hasn't spent more than 5 minutes in his life thinking about his weight and is always bringing out the snacks that I fail to resist.

@EricTheGardener It's bizarre! It was one of the reasons I was really shocked to weigh 17stone 10lbs. I've still got a pair of size 14 jeans that fit me (although they are probably definitely a vanity size 14!) I'm fairly fit and swim a lot and go to the gym but not enough for the whole "muscle weighs more than fat" logic to make a difference. I do think my fat is distributed fairly evenly but I've found since I hit late 40s that it's beginning to linger round my belly. Another reason i need to do something about it.

Pegsmum · 07/10/2024 14:47

Day 4 for me and feeling like I could actually eat something. Quite relieved to feel that way as the last few days I’ve hardly eaten anything at all, and I can’t see that is a healthy way to go about it. Mind you probably do me any harm! Also feel a bit more ‘normal’ today, hope that continues.
From reading other posts I can see there’s such a wide variation in what people are managing to eat (half a banana and some prunes was my limit yesterday) and I’m wondering if it has anything to do with injection sites? I’m sure I read on another thread that injecting into your abdomen (which I did) can have a different effect to injecting into thigh/arm. Doesn’t make sense to me at all and I’d have thought they’d all be equal but it has made me wonder 🤷‍♀️

ikeepforgetting · 07/10/2024 14:57

I'm going to start this evening, probably not long after dinner. I'm going to make some healthy soup with lots of veg and legumes to kick it all off. I am really nervous though, about side effects from the dose or from not eating properly. But I need to do it, I can't lose weight myself because I emotionally eat and am going through a hideous breakup after a 30 year relationship so I can't see my emotions calming for a while! Good to have you all to talk to

im guessing that’s one of my post. 😂

I literally have no boobs😂 well I do have some but I carry my weight on my thighs & ass and not a lot on top. I mostly wear leggings and buy 18 which always fit fine (haven’t tried jeans in ages so they could be bigger!) and I wear a size 18 shirt which is pretty loose on my upper half and a bit too fitted when it hits my hips but still looks ok! I actually love my shape…. When I’m slimmer!

when I tell people my weight though everyone seems suprised it’s as high as it is. I once told the doctor I was 15 stone and she just looked at me shocked and said she didn’t think I was and could I get on the scales 😂😂

I go have one size 24 jumper but it’s very baggy and I only wear it when I’m cleaning around the house.

im a classic pear shape.

What did they say about injecting into different areas? I haven’t come across that yet but could be interesting to read

Pegsmum · 07/10/2024 15:46

This is what I read on the Continuing Mounjaro thread no 18, there’s probably any easy way to link you to it but I don’t know how to quote from another thread sorry!

17 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site
In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs

I don't know if I'm late but i just dine my first injection. 2.5mg. Starting weight 11stone 13.
Had a weird taste in my mouth for first few hours !

Fizzleaway · 07/10/2024 14:09

How much did you lose when you started last November ? If you don’t mind me asking.

53lbs in total, I averaged around 10lbs a month.
I don't weigh weekly because it messes with my head if it's a tiny loss so I weigh every 4 weeks.

UpUpUpU · 07/10/2024 17:03

I am day 5 and feel much better today. headache has gone (although just had flu jab so expect that back tomorrow!).

I am finding the hunger thing odd. I never got hungry before as I ate so much there was never a chance! I am experiencing mild hunger now but no desire to eat. So I am sat here now with this mild hunger, wondering what to make for dinner and it's all a bit, meh. I will go and make something healthy but usually at this time id be making dinner then planning if id eat crisps or chocolate first after the kids are in bed.
I am off Wednesday and so will weigh then, as that will be a week. I am not expecting a big loss (I need to lose around 10kg to hit the top end of the healthy BMI but probably nearer to 13kg to look and feel better). I am short and at high risk of type 2 :(

ItsMintUpNorth · 07/10/2024 17:29

So after about 50g chicken, 1 carrot and a quarter of a pot of houmous at lunch time I'm just about starting to feel hungry! It really is a bizarre feeling, just yesterday I would have been ravenous if that's all I had eaten.

Rockfordpeach · 07/10/2024 17:56

I'm on day 5 and the nausea is strong today. I thought it would ease off towards the end of the week but it's the strongest yet. I thought I was going to throw up earlier

I'm now on day 3 and luckily have not had any side effects so far. After initially not feeling any different, I think some low-key suppression may have kicked in now. I've not eaten that much since injecting and still don't feel hungry or the urge to snack, though I did have a slightly rumbling belly when I woke up this morning.

I've been crap with drinking water - I start off well in the mornings and then just forget. Struggling to get past a litre a day, though am also drinking tea and coffee on top of that. Need to set my alarm to remind me or something.

I'm wondering how I'm going to consume as much protein as I need. I don't eat meat and don't really like a lot of the processed vegetarian proteins. I'm having Greek yoghurt for breakfast, and also take collagen, but think I need to find some kind of protein shake or supplement that doesn't contain any added sugars or sweeteners (gave up sugar a year ago). If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.

I could NOT get to sleep last night. Was still awake at 4am. Just felt absolutely wired, though the first night after the injection was fine. Hope just a one-off...

It's encouraging to hear about the losses from the people who started a week ago!

I really like the Purition shakes

Theonewhogotaway · 07/10/2024 18:07

Hi, can I join please? I just got approved and think I will start Saturday,

envbeckyc · 07/10/2024 18:10

Hello,

I was approved for mounjaro today via medi express.

I am looking to loose 3 stone, but as I am 5ft tall it’s a substantial amount of weight and will make a huge difference.

Perimenopause means that I always feel very hungry, and as I am mostly home based for work there is no barrier to snacking during the day! The house is full of treats for my daughters and my willpower is weak!

I went on holiday in August and the photos of me were really upsetting, as I barely recognised myself.

I do 20,000 steps a day, and have done since Covid lockdown but exercise doesn’t seem to be shifting the weight, so I am hopeful that this will be a solution.

It’s great to know that I am not alone on this journey and that there is a community for support

Thank you
