This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

@NippyCrab the conclusion explains that

"Here we show that GLP-1R activation, a recently approved anti-obesity treatment, induces anxiety immediately after the commencement of the treatment, this anxiety subsides with chronic treatment and is in fact replaced by positive effects on mood manifested by reduced depression-like behavior."

So, it may increase anxiety when first starting treatment with a GLP-1 receptor agonist, but that subsides and then there is an ongoing positive effect on mood. Of course this is all in rats, not humans, and there would need to be more studies done on people taking the various GLP-1 drugs to see what, if any, impact on mood that there is.

In previous studies on diabetic patients taking GLP-1s there was an improvement in mood shown, but there wasn't any way of distinguishing whether that was down to the diabetes improving or the effects of the drug.

SnacklessWonder · 02/10/2024 15:54

@JamieFrasersSassenach I was the same week 1 on 5mg, I was ravenous! And then week 2 I was so ill but week 3 now and so far so good but suppression is strong and I feel a bit nauseous halfway through my dinner.

NippyCrab · 02/10/2024 18:32

Thank you so much @SilenceInside xxx

3wDavid · 02/10/2024 18:46

The last week or so my 5mg hasn’t been 5mg-ing enough, so I jabbed today (a day early) and decided to try the arm. I’d say it was painless but awkward. I fell victim to all the tiktokers saying what a game changer it is, so let’s see!
I am also halfway through my ovulation week and my weight has been up and down the same pound as per usual, which I find oddly demoralizing this time round, even though I know to expect it and that it’s normal…

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 02/10/2024 21:14

I really daren't try my arm. 🙈
Maybe one day. I'll wait for more peer evidence first.

This is really interesting as this is what happened to me! I had some kind of anxiety/low mood for maybe the first 3 weeks or so, it was very noticeable to me because I don’t suffer from anxiety in general. But then it just went away.

I was fine at the beginning for the first 4 to 5 weeks but the last 3 have been rotten. Hopefully my GP will advise on Friday, I hope it passes as I was feeling amazing! X

QueenOfHiraeth · 02/10/2024 23:08

@3wDavid @Jimmyneutronsforehead I tried my arm this week too in an effort to break my 3 week stall. It was either TikTok or @Slimstar13 made me do it!
I saw someone on TikTok say that arm is a gamechanger for her but she is right handed and found that her right arm gave an even better effect than the left. I found injecting into my left arm hard enough, I'm not sure how I'll manage my right!

GlueNoGlue · 03/10/2024 07:57

I injected into my arm this week to try it. I pointed upwards and stabbed without being able to see. It was totally painless but made no difference to side effects or suppression. Think I’ll stick with the leg in the future :)

Paperwhite13 · 03/10/2024 08:55

Jumped on the bandwagon and just injected into my arm too.. here's to hoping it ends my 3-week stall.

4lbs to go to reach a 50lbs weight loss! It just doesn't seem real.

ItsAlrightDarling · 03/10/2024 08:57

DH injects into his arm and while he seems to have worst side effects than me (acid reflux etc) his weight loss has been slower than mine. I inject into my stomach. I have no idea if that has anything to do with injection site though!

Hi, I placed my first order with Zava on Friday, it should have been delivered by Royal mail Tuesday. It didn't. It should be getting delivered today now apparently. Will I still be able to use it?

thekewgirl · 03/10/2024 10:45

I am just starting on this journey but have a quick question. I waited a week to get my MedExpress delivery (they have an influx it seems) but the pen has malfunctioned and it won't dispense any liquid. It's like it's stuck. Have tried two needles. I've sent them a video but they have stressed it would be a delay to review then a delay to replace. Is there anything that should stop me buying a needle syringe of same gauge and injecting the weekly dose? Or should i wait

OrangeWire · 03/10/2024 10:47

Just checking in, weigh day for me:

SW: 22st 11.8lbs
CW: 19st 3.4lbs
GW: 14st 10lbs (for now)

2.5lb loss for me this week. I can’t believe I’ve lost 50lbs! This time 6 months ago I’ve have never believed it, I say it all the time but this medication is life changing. I have been on 5mg for 12 weeks now and I don’t think it is working as well as it did so I have decided to use the bonus dose to make 2 x 7.5mg, I already have my next 7.5mg pen in the fridge so I can go straight onto that after.

I have 2.5lbs to go until I get to my next mini-goal, which will be the weight I got to after some intense dieting in 2022, before I had a 9 month binge and put loads on 🤦‍♀️ It would be lovely to do that next week, I have been waiting to feel like I’ve undone the damage my big binge caused for a long time. After that then the 18’s are calling!

Zava print despatch notes days in advance of actually dispatching so it shows with RM as as 'we're expecting it' but they don't actually get it for several days. The despatch note in the parcel will show how long it has been in transit. The important thing is that it is still cold.

Thank you. So if it feels cold then it should be OK?

WeeklyJab · 03/10/2024 11:00

Is it normal to struggle to eat at all in the first week?

I felt so bloody awful for the first 4 days I was barely getting 1000 calories in me, and at my (huge) size that’s 1500 calories below what it takes to keep going.

Obviously that isn’t sustainable or healthy, but I have been so tired and headachy I hadn’t been able to do much more. I felt too rubbish to be hungry.

It’s settled down a lot today, thankfully, but I wondered if this was common?

When I do eat I am focused on protein rich food, so lots of eggs and fish.

Ugh how annoying, sorry you're having issues. They have been great lately so this is surprising...hopefully they sort it out!

Yes, my advice would be to go get yourself 1ml insulin syringes and draw 0.6 ml (the equivalent of 1 dose from the pen) and inject this way. The medicine and the process are totally fine to do this way, so maybe that's how you administer this pen until you finish it for all your future doses. If in the meantime they send you a free replacement pen - happy days!

Very normal. I think my very first week I had the highest suppression to date. I made sure to have some good quality/higher calorie protein shakes on hand, as food was giving me the ick and I just couldn't face it. Not ideal, but better than nothing. It did settle after though, so hopefully it normalizes for you too

thekewgirl · 03/10/2024 11:10

Thanks so much 3wdavid. I assumed that was the case but just wanted to see if anyone had a different view. The only reason I am being impatient is that I was so excited to start it Smile

The pen should not go above 8 degrees before you start using. If you plan to use it straight away, then it is fine up to 30 degrees. Zava packaging is not the best and quite a few of us got warm pens from them in the summer. But, at this time of year, if you get it within 48 hours of despatch and the ice pack is still cold, even if it has melted, it should be fine.

Yes very common. One of the main ways MJ works is by suppressing appetite so it can continue like that for some days after every jab. The feeling is probably unfamiliar but a sign the med is working even at a low dose.
Some will disagree with me but I wouldn't worry too much at this early stage. By definition we're Obese so a few weeks of low calories won't hurt - try eating little and often, drink water and carry on focusing on healthy protein rich foods.

Staring Episode 2 GIF by The Office

Ugh. My official weigh-in says I have maintained this past week. How annoying for me, given that I eat well, go to the gym, walk and do sauna. LOL.

I am hoping and praying that it's all to do with ovulation and next week I get a big fat whoosh!! I have been steadily losing 2 lb a week since starting 4 months ago and I'm 51 lbs down already, so this has really pissed me right off 😄 Then again....it's normal, I know, I know.

KrankyKumquat · 03/10/2024 11:29

@3wDavid
Weeks like that are such a disappointment aren't they? I'm too old to blame ovulation though😅
I'm at 50 odd lbs too, and nearly 25% of body weight lost. So, like you, one lb lost is probably proportionally equivalent to 3 or 4 lbs lost when we were much heavier (disclaimer - these numbers are made up😊)

WeeklyJab · 03/10/2024 11:32

@KrankyKumquat - thanks, good to know.
