Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:
https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/enjoy-food/carbohydrates-and-diabetes/carbs-and-cooking
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/cooling-resistant-starch#TOC_TITLE_HDR_6

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

Goodness, hope it settles. I’m on two medications for high blood pressure so hoping to come off them eventually. Didn’t occur to me that it could drop so soon.

Ive been very dizzy at times
My Bp was on lower side when I checked at first but seems to have come up a bit now, still get dizzyness, its definitely not blood glucose
You should speak to your GP as your meds may need altering.
Also check your lying and standing BP. Take a reading when sitting, then again upon standing. See if there is a drop on standing.

I find drinking electrolytes, and in general being well hydrated helps a bit

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 14/10/2024 22:13

BP still highish and no drop on standing, @Pinkyp22 @KrankyKumquat, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 14/10/2024 22:16

The MJ low blood pressure side effect is definitely one to be wary of.

Make sure you stand up slowly each time and take your time.

I am partial to a good stretch but it gives me almost-syncope everything now. Had to make sure all my big stretchy yawns are seated.

@IReallyNeedThisToWork
Oh yes I know mine wasn't too high and I was just advised to keep an eye on it given family history. It was the big drop so quickly on MJ which was notable, especially as I hadn't lost all that much weight by that point.

QueenOfHiraeth · 14/10/2024 22:32

@LaurieFairyCake I just worry that we can all focus too much on the charts and the figures on them rather than on what suits us as individuals.
My "normal" weight range is apparently below 10 1/2 stone but I know that is totally unrealistic for me When I was about to get married (over 40 years ago) I went to Weight Watchers and got down to 10stone 4 which, according to them, was still not at goal but I was in a slim size 10 and gained weight back if I so much as thought about food. It made me realise that, no matter what the charts say, we need to go by how we look and feel.
You know what is right for you but don't let those charts dictate if you reach a point where you look and feel good!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 15/10/2024 06:11

@KrankyKumquat ah, got you 😁 Sadly, bp is an area where MJ isn't working her magic for me (yet) 😩

Time4changeagain · 15/10/2024 07:24

So one of today’s headlines on GMB is that the government is to trial Mounjaro in greater Manchester for 3000 unemployed obese people over 5 years…. To try to get them back to work!
Dr Hilary has put his own view across that it takes the medicine away from people who need it for diabetes and how bad the side affects are. Also as soon as the jabs are stopped the weight will be gained back 🤬

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 15/10/2024 07:27

I’ve just checked my blood pressure and it was 120/82. This is incredible for me as it always tends towards high, but not high enough for medication.

I’ve just weighed in and have broken my two week stall. I’m now 175.4lbs and have gone into the 70s in kg!! 79.55kg. Technically have 9lbs to lose to reach bmi 25. I was to get down to 147lbs ideally.

I just heard this on the radio. What the heck Dr Hilary? Sounds like one of those posters on the fat shaming threads 🙄

SnacklessWonder · 15/10/2024 07:32

@Time4changeagain Dr Hillary is an absolute bellend. I still don't understand why he's given so much airtime.

I watched some videos from doctors in the US yesterday talking about weight gain and they said despite hearing stories about all the weight going back on (and more) that the studies were really reassuring. Some people regained half the weight they had lost BUT that is because they went back to normal habits after coming off weight loss injections. Which stands to reason right? Thats the same as coming off any diet.

SnacklessWonder · 15/10/2024 07:34

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 14/10/2024 21:49

@KrankyKumquat high 130s systolic bp isn't actually particularly high. My gp told me that they are ideally looking for readings around 135/85 or less at home. Mine was 190 something / a triple figure when they started me on medication 😬

That depends on a few factors. My cardiologist said mine has to be under 125/75. We actually aim to keep it at 120/70.

FarriersGirl · 15/10/2024 07:39

@SnacklessWonder @Time4changeagain This trial for weight loss in the unemployed is also being supported by Eley Lilli who make MJ so can probably supply all the pens needed without affecting supplies for other purposes. Dr Hilary needs to catch up with the real world!

Time4changeagain · 15/10/2024 07:44

@SnacklessWonder
Totally agree… He has such dated views about everything, I get so annoyed when they have him on. Exactly, if you don’t use it as an aid and change absolutely nothing of course you will regain, surely that is common sense.

SnacklessWonder · 15/10/2024 07:50

They've already said there are NO supply issues with any of these medications anyhow. The reason they struggle in the NHS is because of funding, not supply. If the NHS wanted to stump up the cash they could have as much as they wanted. It's just fake news when they say that people using them privately take them away from others because it's simply not true.

In other news. Day 11 of my weight being the same - what is going on? I'm due to start next pen next week and I ordered 5mg because a) it was working really well and b) I don't want to go higher as 12lbs away from goal but I'm stuck!

@Slimstar13 As always you have said what I was trying to say but much more eloquently! I agree with every word you've said there.

It was @LaurieFairyCake I was discussing BMI with as I was also shocked by 6stone and think it is unreasonably low although I think she said she is much shorter than either of us

Snozzlemaid · 15/10/2024 12:28

Weight loss injections being discussed on Jeremy Vine now.

I'm going to have to turn it off - so much rubbish being discussed as you'd expect.

I came here to ask if anyone was listening.

I've got a full house on my bullshit bingo card!

All the clichés.

Even from the supposed expert. Depriving diabetics, shortages, untested, just stop eating cake, they just want to eat rubbish without consequences blah blah blah.

The BBC should be ashamed.

Azuresky68 · 15/10/2024 12:35

@Time4changeagain and everyone else commenting on this news about using WL injections to get back to work. Such an ill-informed idea and so judgemental. Unfortunately, many people believe everything Dr. Hilary says. I haven't seen this on TV, but I was so frustrated after hearing a feature on R2 Jeremy Vine about this, too. At least he had a couple of very articulate people on the programme who had experience of MJ. It's still on the radio now. Just felt I had to jump on here to vent my frustration as I know people on here understand what I am talking about. It's been presented as a magic solution and stereotyping people who struggle with their weight by the media...so divisive 😱

Snozzlemaid · 15/10/2024 12:55

It's disgusting the language used to describe people who may benefit from weight loss injections on these articles in the media.
Makes my blood boil.

SnacklessWonder · 15/10/2024 13:38

Dr Sarah Javis was on the news just now talking about it, she was far more balanced about it.

NippyCrab · 15/10/2024 13:43

@Slimstar13 wise words ❤️

Re the R2 Jeremy Vine topic, if I was more energised I would have called in! I'm sorry but what a load of tosh! These jags should be made available across the country, from the NHS. This trial is utter nonsense, my brain isn't working well enough to put together a better worded post on here, Dr Hilary is a fudwit too!

NippyCrab · 15/10/2024 13:44

A lot of people don't know how to talk about obesity without the moralising finger wagging.

'eat less, move more. it's very simple'
'oh it's terrible to be fat, you should take more pride in yourself and lose some weight'
'no don't lose weight like that! that's the easy way out'.

MounjaroMunchie · 15/10/2024 15:11

I've just used the BMI calculator and got very similar results to @LaurieFairyCake - I'm 4ft 10". I have a BMI of 32 (obese) with my current weight of 10st 13lb. I can't even begin to imagine what I'd look like if I lost another 5 stone.
