You do whatever is helpful for you @Pinkjenny! I often fall victim to unfavourable comparisons - it's easy for me to start feeling that absolutely everyone is doing better than me because they are thinner, taller, losing weight faster, fatter but more attractive, fatter but more popular, any old size but with a better mental attitude - you name it, I can compare myself badly to it! One thing I find helpful on here is that there's such a big range of people in different circumstances that it makes me appreciate it's different, not better/worse. But I think we all have to guard against making ourselves feel potentially worse, whatever it takes :)

Thank you. Every week I input my weight to see whether I've moved from Obese into Overweight 🤣

Nope!

weaseleyes · 28/09/2024 12:14

Ha! I do that too @Pinkjenny! I think I have about another stone to go before that miraculous milestone, though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2024 12:19

Well done @owlyboo and @Glittermoonlight

@Pinkjenny a loss is a loss tho doesn't matter if isn't as much as others - or more

We all seem to react differently to mj

@weaseleyes indeed there have been a few of us plateaux and it is so hard when others lose 3/4/5lb week after week

Does make you think is mj doing anything

As I def don't have the suppressant many seem to have

Even when I did 10 yesterday - I've had breakfast and will have a chicken salad for lunch about 1

I'm Hungary now

weaseleyes · 28/09/2024 12:27

Do you feel hungry as in lunch would be nice or hungry as in desperate? I tend to feel a bit hungry for meals most of the time, though sometimes I don't, but it hasn't got that edge of anxiety about it that it used to have. I also don't feel like snacking idly (in general), which has been a real change for me. I haven't been eating my meal whilst worrying about finishing it and wondering what to eat next, even though I seldom used to let myself eat more. It's almost like food used to be the one solution I could think of to any problem that assailed me (bored, lonely, fed up, stressed at work, not enough money - anything) - even though it didn't work - and now it seems a bit irrelevant, though I do still like food.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2024 13:09

@weaseleyes lunch would be nice.

And it was nice. Had a chicken salad. And now full and content

No need to snack or have pudding after

Tho tbh I rarely have pudding. I'm a savoury person and would prefer starters to pudding

How is everyone finding 5mg?

I'm on week three after starting Mounjaro at the beginning of August. I can't quite believe how strong the effects are for me. Two coffees today, day 6 of week 3, and I'm not hungry at all.

weaseleyes · 28/09/2024 13:17

@Blondeshavemorefun that sounds like what I mean if I talk about appetite being suppressed. Do you think the difference for you might be that you had less extreme cravings or food noise before, so the contrast is less marked? When I've been in a good eating regime and not very overweight, feeling hungry is normal and manageable. But when I've been eating stuff I know I don't feel good on or have been more overweight, my hunger and thoughts about food have felt so intense, even though I've not acted on them. So MJ for me tipped me straight into that good head/body space.

I’ve only just had my 2nd 5mg yesterday, but this week I found by day 4 I was getting hungry a lot more & having to use will power not to reach for snacks, made sure I had some fruit if I wanted something.
You sound like you have great suppression- so sounds like you’re one of the lucky ones where a lower dose works. Are you going to stay on 5mg? I think I might be one of those people who needs a much higher dose unfortunately. The only week I felt tons of suppression was week one of the 2.5mg, & that felt insane!
Interesting how we’re all different!

itwasnevermine · 28/09/2024 13:32

@Glittermoonlight yes my second 5mg pen is in the fridge ready to be used in a couple of weeks! I'm amazed at how well it's worked

Princessandthepie · 28/09/2024 13:45

I've found I've been a bit more hungry this past week, but I think that's because I'm due on.

I did my 4th 5mg on Wednesday and I'm so tired and really have a miserable headache not helped by the kids bickering and then it causing an argument between DH and I.

DH and I were meant to be going out tonight but I can't be bothered with him or the kids at the moment, im so sick and tired of tge bickering, I just want to go to bed and be left alone.

lookathatbookcase · 28/09/2024 13:45

@itwasnevermine I've been 5 weeks on 3.75 mg and am probably staying here for the next while - the suppression is still strong enough. Have wondered about going back to 2.5 mg to see if that would hold too - I have a day of feeling like ass directly after the jab which I didn't have on the lower dose. But let's see if that evens out in the coming weeks.

I have wondered about going back down to 2.5 as I have felt rough! But 2.5 didn't work for me nearly as well as the 5. I've still not eaten today because I just don't want anything! It's insane

Pinkjenny · 28/09/2024 13:58

For me, it's the obsessing about food that has stopped. Not panicking about eating enough and being hungry, not constantly thinking about what to eat next. My sugar cravings have completely disappeared, I've had no chocolate or sweets in five weeks.

I'm also able to stop when I've had enough, which has been great. But the suppression I felt in the first week isn't really there. I've reacted similarly to 5mg as I did 2.5, not really noticed a lot of difference.

FlappingMadly · 28/09/2024 14:31

@Pinkjenny whatever works for you. I hear you! As Weasel said what keeps you well is most important. Although we shouldn’t it is very hard not to compare.

Hi I really don't know @weaseleyes

I don't think I ever had the omg I need a biscuit cake tea after having lunch urges

I had chocolate last night and not really a lover of it. Prefer crisps so def no suppression

As @Glittermoonlight said some of us seem to need higher doses

I had my first dose of 5mg last night and HUGE suppression. I've not been to the loo for 3 days, so I had to force myself to eat 100mg of prunes and drink a protein shake earlier to get at least something inside me. I think I will schedule to eat something at set times or I could easily go all day and eat nothing and that can't be good!

itwasnevermine · 28/09/2024 16:33

@Mum0ntherun I honestly have 0 appetite and I'm on day 6!! It's crazy

I am due my 3rd 5mg on Monday. I am experiencing mild to a bit annoying nausea, which I didnt have before 5mg and still the odd dry mouth and burping moments. Supression is still good on the whole, food noise still gone.
I have got a second 5mg in the fridge, I really dont want to increase until the nausea has completely gone or because I have to because the food noise is back. I would be very happy to stay on 5mg if I can.
I am eating two meals a day as I always have, whether I am hungry or not, counting cals and macros. I have also discovered that eating gets rid of or lessens the nausea.

Willowy1982 · 28/09/2024 17:00

I had my first 5mg on Wednesday. I had huge suppression on Thursday and struggled to eat, Friday was slightly better but still just about managed 3 small meals, today is more normal, had a smoothie for breakfast, egg mayo sandwich for lunch and got a dinner planned of pork shoulder with rice and lovely veggies and I'm feeling hungry so I will manage it. I've had no unpleasant side effects either.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2024 17:03

I want suppression

Stamps feet !!!!

Willowy1982 · 28/09/2024 17:16

I'm feeling so grateful that I've been OK so far and had good suppression. I see so many of you with unpleasant side effects and no suppression and really feel for everyone. 🙏

lookathatbookcase · 28/09/2024 17:23

To also try and explain what I mean by terms:

Suppression is like having something between me and my appetite, and my capacity to eat everything. It's very physical. So - I can be hungry (which is good!) but eat a smaller portion and feel sated. Or - I can be hungry but not have the massive panic I need to eat now now now. I think actually with exception of the day after the jab, I always feel hunger at an appropriate time, I just relate to it differently now.

Food noise is thinking about food all the time, particular in relation to any emotional trigger (boredom, sadness). I mistake it for hunger, but it's not. For example - in the past week I've had a bunch of not-great things going on; pre-MJ I would have eaten eg. a pack of biscuits, several packs of crisps, chocolate bars, all mindlessly; also far bigger portions of food than I actually needed to numb myself. Now - I don't.

eeeeeeeee · 28/09/2024 17:29

5mg has been chill - no side effects. I stalled in progress this month so will step up to 7.5mg.

My weight hovered around the same 1-2kg all month, yet I have developed stretch marks on my stomach! I don’t feel my stomach has lost weight enough to warrant this, but I wish I took measurements of myself beforehand to compare properly.

Anyone else noticing stretch marks? I’m not too fussed as they do tend to fade well for me, though I’m going to look into some lotions & potions to help!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2024 17:41

I measured. No stretch marks as of yet

Wingingit11 · 28/09/2024 17:45

I wierdly don’t seem to get red/purple stretch marks they just go silver spiders 😅
