I'm still a long way off thinking about maintenance, but as I imagine getting to goal weight and then trying to stay there (or within an acceptable range) my preference would be to do MJ 1 week every month. So 3 weeks when I try to maintain with good habits and willpower, then 1 week when my appetite is deliberately suppressed.

I wonder if this kind of approach will ever be possible...

Manypaws · 05/10/2024 21:56

I think it's slowly dawning on me that it's not some miracle cure and that the work still needs to be put in

Pinkjenny · 05/10/2024 22:22

I'm confused now. So everyone taking the bonus dose is taking a risk? I could be wrong here, maths is not my strength 😂

Wingingit11 · 05/10/2024 22:25

@Pinkjenny its within 30 days (1;8;15;22;29 ish)

Yep I agree with this! I'm able to resist much easier but I also need to work at it myself

GoodLuckBabe · 05/10/2024 23:23

I have always jabbed in the stomach, but suppression is not always great. If you do the leg, do you do underneath, or inner thigh, or on top? It’s just that on top (and I am probably deluding myself here) there doesn’t feel like much flesh above the muscle. I would be worried about going through the fat layer?

eeeeeeeee · 05/10/2024 23:49

@GoodLuckBabe I think people use the inner thigh. I may switch sites to thighs once I lose more stomach fat, as my thighs will likely be more fatty!

I have been thinking lots about maintenance too! Not sure using it for 1 week would be cost effective as the UK 4-dose pens are only good for 30 days once used. In the USA, they probably can follow your approach though, as Mounjaro is sold as a single-dose pen.

I am leaning towards tapering back down through the doses once I hit my target. I’m currently titrating up each month and have 15kg to lose. I predict I’ll hit my goal in January on 15mg. From there, I might drop down the doses back to 2.5mg. So I’d spend a few more months on maintenance, gradually reducing the medication in my system and then go it alone.

@eeeeeeeee and @GoodLuckBabe Aim for the outer side of your upper thigh. Avoid injecting into the inner thigh- the inner thigh has a dense network of blood vessels.
There’s a diagram of where to inject inside every box of MJ along with the patient leaflet info.

I’m a happy bunny. At the end of my second pen I’ve lost a total of 5.9kgs.

I’ll start my third one today and it will be a 5mg again. It’s working really well for me.

Ithinkimrincewind · 06/10/2024 07:52

Well done to everyone. I was having a down day or 2 when I was feeling I wanted all the sweets etc, for the 1st time since I'd started. I haven't told anyone except my daughter about taking mj so I'm afraid you all got my worries, sorry.
A positive though today. I only lost .2 of a kg this week but I've just put on costco leggings in medium! It isnt pretty but they fit!

Fuffedoff · 05/10/2024 18:28

Hey,

Thought I'd join you all on here.. I started back on 23rd August and have been tootling along since. I've lost 10.7kg/23lb so far.

I'm currently on 5mg and have two doses left. I thought I'd order the next pen up (7.5mg). However now I'm wondering whether I should have stuck to 5.

I'll still use the 7.5mg but reduce the clicks instead.

Would you then throw the pen after 30 days- or has anyone else used the pen after that time period? And if so have you noticed any difference?

Thanks

Keep the 7.5 for next time and order a 5mg pen to use now if you don't want to go up. That's better than wasting some. You will probably be ready to move up after two 5mg pens

WitchDancer · 06/10/2024 08:46

Morning all. It's lovely to see so many come out of lurking and tell us how they're getting on!

I'm thankfully feeling less nauseous but unfortunately am in a fibromyalgia flare so am feeling really grim. I'm 1 stone 2lb down though, which is ok. It's not as much as a lot on here but it's still a loss.

Onward and downward!

poppym12 · 06/10/2024 09:04

I've been hovering around the same weight for a week or so, weighed myself this morning (not expecting much) and I've dropped 1.6kg. How does that happen all of a sudden? Horrible feeling it will go back up tomorrow or my scales are malfunctioning but for today, I'm comfortably below my first goal by over 2lb.

Perfectly normal to not lose for a while then drop a couple of pounds.
It's all part of the journey as you body sometimes needs time to adjust to a lower weight before it allows itself to lose more.

weaseleyes · 06/10/2024 10:42

Well done @poppym12! I think we’d all like our bodies to follow a nice downwards linear trajectory, but considering how incredibly complex bodies are it’s not surprising they don’t. I think all the talk of aim for 1-2lbs a week etc tricks us into thinking that’s a reliable pattern, when actually it’s an average over time. The advice should be: see a loss, get over-excited, see a much smaller loss, feel pissed off, have fuck all happen for ages, go up 2lbs for no good reason, lose some randomly, abandon all rationality, look back on your progress in two months and feel quietly pleased.

Princessandthepie · 06/10/2024 10:51

I weighed this morning again and I'm down again so 13.11 now and a total of 25lbs off in 2 months!

I'm sharing my MFP weigh chart to show you all that there have been flat lines of no lose for periods of time in those 2 months. I've made my life much easier on this weight loss journey by just accepting that I will have times where I won't lose or I might even gain along the way.

Just keep going, make nutritious choices around food, and more importantly, don't beat yourself up. Overall, you're all doing great!

2 NSVs today. Firstly I had to buy all new knickers because I was hoiking mine up every 5 minutes! Then I ordered a pair of non stretch leopard print jeans as a goal. They only went up to an 18. The last time I bought jeans, in August, I bought a 24. Anyway tried them on this morning to see how far I have to go and they only blooming zipped up!!! I can't breathe in them but who needs oxygen anyway??

itwasnevermine · 06/10/2024 12:36

I've worn holes in my pants from where I keep pulling them up 🤣

NippyCrab · 06/10/2024 13:02

@WitchDancer hugs for your Fibro flare 💐 i wasn't sure if I had a virus or flare with added extras, GP said virus. Hopefully it won't drag on for you, x

Wingingit11 · 06/10/2024 13:14

We're off to the pub to watch the football. Two drink maximum for me. It's just so nice to not feel traumatised every time I get dressed.
