I will be a day behind you @eeeeeeeee

Tho obv I had my little 10 encounter 😉

cosylife · 02/10/2024 14:30

I’m in fay 4 post jab and the suppression is HIGH! On my 3rd week of 5mg, have another 5 mg in the fridge. Also planning on doing my bonus dose this time round, so I’ll have a total of 10 weeks on 5mg.

Just finishing up my period so hoping for a bit of a wooosh on the scales on Saturday, I was sooo good with my willpower when the PMS was screaming at me to drink wine and eat crisps!

Glittermoonlight · 02/10/2024 14:38

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2024 14:08

Yet @Glittermoonlight you have ordered a 7.5 so almost catching up with me

Also if people are using the bonus dose as a week extra that 5w so not a month a pen

Yes that’s very true, I already know I need to move up, I didn’t take my bonus 2.5 because the suppression has really worn off so was keen to just go straight up after the 4 doses, and feel the same with the 5mg. I’m hoping 7.5 will be the magic dose for me! But I have 2 more doses of the 5mg. I am sticking to strict calorie counting, high protein, low carb diet, & drinking tons of water, but it’s definitely taking quite a bit of will power!!
Congratulations on feeling more suppression today!

poppym12 · 02/10/2024 14:43

I've done 3x5mg too so I'll do the fourth on Sunday and take the bonus dose with me on holiday the week after. I've got 7.5mg already in the fridge and even though I'm quite suppressed and feeling full quickly on 5mg, my weight loss has slowed down.

I think I'll see how I feel on the day of the first 7.5 as to whether I just use 5 or not.

MelainesLaugh · 02/10/2024 14:50

I’m staying on 5mg for a second month. My suppression is unreal. Today all I’ve had is a protein shake and it’s now 2:50pm and I’m only just feeling hungry. Yesterday I struggled with toast for breakfast, I had a subway at lunchtime because I was working late and that was it for the rest of the day.

My DH is now on it too as I’ve mentioned a couple of times and we’ve both agreed this stuff is magic.

owlyboo · 02/10/2024 14:51

I'm only late jabber, didn't start until 20th August. I had my third 5mg dose yesterday, and I'm planning to do my 4th next Tuesday, the do the bonus dose the next (as long as I'm still having the same suppression etc. ) then up to 7.5mg

Im doing the same as @eeeeeeeee and following the recommended tritiation period (apart from a few bonus doses here and there!!) therefore I think this time I will order the pack with the next three pens in. If I feel I need to stay on a different dose for a month I can always order it but at least they'll all be there and waiting in the fridge (and paid for before Christmas!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2024 14:51

@Glittermoonlight hopefully 7/5 will be your magic number. That or 10 like me

Sounds a plan

I've found a study for GLP-1 affecting anxiety and depression. It's way out my level of understanding but if anyone is interested enough to read it and report the conclusions that would be great. If I've taken something from it it looks like it lowers depression and heightens anxiety.

I haven't read the report but it has completely reduced my anxiety! Took a couple of weeks and then bamn I suddenly noticed that anxious feeling I always carry wasn't there and my head was suddenly quiet. I notice on jab day the anxiety/noise slightly then it goes again when the jab kicks in

MissFancyDay · 02/10/2024 15:25

I'm currently on 5mg and have ordered another 5mg pen I will also do the bonus doses so 10 weeks on 5mg at least.

I have another 5 stone to lose so I'm very mindful of taking it slowly so that I have somewhere to go if the effects lessen.

I wouldn't say the suppression is mega but I'm finding it no problem sticking to 1200 calories and losing about 2lbs a week, so that suits me at the moment.

Also no side effects apart from constipation and tiredness

MJ321 · 02/10/2024 16:04

Pinkjenny · 02/10/2024 13:27

What's the general consensus about moving up? Is everyone staying on 5mg? I want to see what I lose this week and probably next before I decide given I will definitely be taking the bonus dose this time around.

I did 5 weeks at 2.5mg and now on my 4th jab of 3.75mg. Even though I have the 5mg pen I’m putting off taking the full amount until I need it as I’m currently loosing at a good pace and can still eat, just smaller portions.

Pinkjenny · 02/10/2024 16:13

I'm going to wait and see what my loss is like when I weigh this weekend and make a decision. Judging from my clothes alone I would say it's definitely slowed down. But I keep remembering that podcast that said that 1-2lb a week is sufficient to stay on the current dose.

I'm finding I get a day feeling really low (similar to how I feel with PMT), usually a day or two after jabbing. That would be today... so combined with a horrible cold, sleep deprivation, a broken washing machine and the rumblings of actual PMT, I'm very, very bad company today. But I haven't eaten any cakes! Not a single one.

@Pinkjenny I think I'll stick with 5 unless anything changes. I started late August so I've only just done my 6th jab so have a couple of weeks to go before deciding.

I started towards the end of August, so I'm on my second 5mg dose. 2.5 & the bonus was a good loss for me: 17 lbs, and I lost 2 lbs last week on my first 5mg jab. I will see how this week and next go before deciding if I order another 5mg or up to 7.5mg. The suppression is harder, but I've been less active, so my losses have slowed.

Like us all, I want this to happen overnight and suddenly be a slinky minx 😁, but if I keep on losing, then it's a plus and it is the food habits I have to change - though I did stop at one Jaffa cake on Monday and normally I'd have inhaled the whole sleeve 😜

FlappingMadly · 02/10/2024 17:07

I’ve ordered another 5mg pen as I’m doing ok on 4mg. I hope that will give me the flexibility to increase if I need to.

eeeeeeeee · 02/10/2024 17:22

@Blondeshavemorefun yes! Love that!

@owlyboo that sounds like a good plan! I’m trying to do similar and have an extra pen on hand in the fridge, especially as the next few months will be tight in the run up to Christmas!

I ran this through Chatgpt:

Summary of the Study

The study investigates the effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) activation on anxiety and depression-like behaviors in rats. It finds that acute GLP-1R activation induces anxiety-like behavior via increased serotonin turnover in the amygdala, while chronic activation reduces depression-like behavior. The study suggests that GLP-1R may have a dual role in mood regulation, with potential clinical implications for treating obesity and mood disorders.

Limitations

1.	Animal Model: Results may not fully translate to humans due to differences in physiology.
2.	Short Duration: The acute and chronic effects were observed over limited time frames; long-term effects remain unknown.
3.	Specificity: Other neurochemical pathways that may influence outcomes were not extensively analyzed.
4.	Population Variability: The study primarily used specific rat strains, which might not reflect broader human responses.

Implications for Humans

For humans taking GLP-1R agonists like EX4, the study indicates a potential initial increase in anxiety, similar to SSRIs, which may diminish with continued use. The long-term benefits may include improved mood and reduced depressive symptoms, particularly for obese individuals with comorbid depression. However, monitoring for anxiety during initial treatment phases is essential.

eeeeeeeee · 02/10/2024 18:14

@NippyCrab the above message is from AI, however this message is my thoughts - which are to take the results with a pinch of salt. We don’t know how many rats were used or sample sizes for example to know more behind any numbers reported in trends. It seems like a fairly brutal animal test, that humans using weight loss injections wouldn’t be subjected to, so it’s hard to extrapolate results. The rats are essentially being injected in their brain and subjected to high stress tests which isn’t accurate to how we would use medication in real life.

Beyond that, this isn’t actually a test using Mounjaro (tirzepatide). The products in the GLP-1 class of medication work in different ways, eg Mounjaro (tirzepatide) also activates GIP receptors - we don’t know if that would impact any results.

Ultimately if you have any concerns, have a consultation with your pharmacist/GP and talk them through

lookathatbookcase · 02/10/2024 18:22

On timings and amounts: Started at the beginning of August, and I'm heading into my 3rd pen tomorrow. I've had 1 month on 2.5mg and 1 on 3.75mg, and I think I'm continuing with 3.75mg for now. The suppression is strong enough without being unpleasant, I'm losing pretty steadily at about 2-3lb per week which feels good. SW 15' 8, CW 13' 12.

NippyCrab · 02/10/2024 18:35

That’s my concern too about moving up too fast ! At the start felt like loads of levels to go through and now we are almost half way!
