Sorry to hear you're feeling frustrated/ disappointed @itwasnevermine - you've had some great advice though and I'm sure you will see a loss next time, just be kind to yourself!

I'm feeling absolutely hideous, could do with some advice - what do people do about injecting when ill? I should have done mine yesterday, I normally do it about an hour before bed. However I felt so hideous with this stinking cold, and DH was away so I was solo parenting. Therefore as soon as DD went to bed I literally just crawled into bed myself, didn't even think about doing my jabs. I still feel awful today - I want to do my jab again this evening but I feel a bit apprehensive in as much as is it a good idea to do it when I'm feeling so poorly? But then don't think it's a good idea to leave it any longer either. Urgh, my head is banging and I can't think straight.

I did mine while feeling horrendous and don't regret it, but now I can't tell if I'm not hungry because of the jab or the cold!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2024 11:57

I would jab but maybe count clicks if feel bad on usual dose

Or do you usually feel fine after jabbing bjr feel awful due to cold

But as I don't seem to feel bad even when I double dose I'm not sure how you feel

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2024 11:59

You may have covid

I hear it is doing the rounds again

I still haven't had it but have my 6th covid Jan fri plus flu jab

So will be having 3 pricks

Lucky me

lookathatbookcase · 01/10/2024 12:05

@AuntieDote I did mine when also feeling rough as last weekend - possible heavy cold / Covid? All that happened was that the usual day-after side effects were a little more punchy than usual (or it may just have been the illness anyway).

AuntieDote · 01/10/2024 12:15

Thanks guys, I'll go ahead this evening.

Ironically, the MJ side effects have really lessened this last week. Still bleeding (could be a HRT thing), but the stomach side effects were so much milder and I could have almost said I was actually feeling good, then bang get hit with this - my husband is getting seriously short on sympathy because it does seem like there's always something bloody wrong with me at the moment!

Could be covid thats a good point.

itwasnevermine · 01/10/2024 12:17

I'm pretty sure I've had Covid, bloody wrecked me this week. Bring on the weekend

AuntieDote · 01/10/2024 12:25

I just dug a test out of the back of the cupboard - was positive before I so much as put the little vial back down - so yep, that's the issue!

Urgh.

20bloodypounds · 01/10/2024 12:46

@itwasnevermine as others have said, lots of posdible reasons why you've not seen a loss - lack of water, inflammation, your body recognising it is ill and holding on to energy sources.. Plus if you look at long term weight loss graphs on any weight loss approach there are daily and weekly fluctuations up and down. It is only in the longer term that you can see the overall downward trend.

Plus, one of the things I like about this medicated approach is how difficult it is to 'just give up'. Firstly you can't undo whatever weekly injection you've already taken so you're committed until those effects run out.

Secondly, unless you're on your final dose from a pen you've paid a small fortune, so you might as well get your money's worth and finish what you have.

And thirdly (ime) on this medicated approach you can't easily say fuck it and stuff your face (like you might on any other diet). You could order a huge Chinese but find you couldn't eat as much, or try to stuff your face with chocolate or wine only to discover that you had to stop. Or risk being sick with all of it.

Originally I hated the idea of a once weekly injection, now I think it is part of what helps us stick to this through the ups and downs.

Not often I'm right

Hope you feel better soon

Thankfully not Covid!

Being ill has definitely played a role in my gain though I'd imagine

I made myself have a shake for breakfast but suppression is good. I’m going to stay on 5 for the next jab and am jumping through hoops with Voy to take advantage of their sale. Anyone spotted other good deals?

Voy have a sale? I can't see this? Do you have a link please?

NippyCrab · 01/10/2024 14:47

@Blondeshavemorefun you have a way with words 😂
@itwasnevermine I bet when you are feeling better those wee ounces will be gone, i put on a pound this week but I've also got a virus and constipation with not drinking enough and having toast.
@poppym12 you've done amazing with a move, it's one of the top 5 stressful things to do in life. I have ME too and I often do a Boom n Bust then I'm done in. Rest and take time to recover!. X
Urgh @AuntieDote it's doing the rounds in our area too, hugs, defo still Jab if you feel you can.
@AnnieMcFanny what a lovely positive post, it's such a boost when you feel everything is just right in life ❤️
@20bloodypounds that's exactly it! If I've had another bit of food ready to eat my brain says, nah i don't really want that thanks. The maintenance will be the hardest for me, I'm definitely a fuck it eater 😆

owlyboo · 01/10/2024 14:55

Hope everyone that's feeling rubbish starts to feel better soon.

Met up with a friend today I hadn't seen for months and she straight away remarked on how great I was looking/how it looked like I'd lost a shit ton of weight which was nice!

She asked me how I'd been doing it and I was honest, said walking loads and that I'd lost 9lbs previously but had started MJ end of August which has helped me reach nearly a two stone loss altogether.

She was super supportive told me she'd been thinking of it and asked me loads of questions.

It was nice to have this group as an example of everyone's experiences to give her a honest opinion as I've been lucky so far with my experience on MJ.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2024 14:57

@NippyCrab titty kisses or the fact I will be having 3 pricks Friday

Shame not 4 😂😂

Princessandthepie · 01/10/2024 15:09

Erm.... OK! This thread has gone a big weird, titty kisses 🤣🤣🤣

I've not checked in as much, lots going on at the moment, but I hope you're all doing OK.

@itwasnevermine I know weight gains are frustrating but it's part of the journey and it's going to happen. I've had 2 weight gains since starting but overall, I definitely going in the right direction so try not to let it bother you! ❤️

Timetochange24 · 01/10/2024 16:22

I know lots of you have reasons not to but I'm finding it really helpful to weigh daily and track the mini fluctuations. I know there will be some gains as well as losses but it's also helping me to think about the effect that different foods/quantities have on my body. After hospital day Sunday I was literally empty then I can see the difference that a proper day of food makes. The overall trend is down, and I find plotting all the data makes it easier for me to see that. I know that's not for everyone, but something to think about if you're finding that a weekly check on a gain day is disheartening.

MissFancyDay · 01/10/2024 16:24

@itwasnevermine @Princessandthepie

I know that it is not how many of you keep tabs on your losses, but I weigh every day to observe how my body reacts and I have gained every week since this process started.

The pattern is I tend to lose for about 4 days in a row, go up a bit, stay the same and then lose to lower than I was before. It's quite consistent at the moment and doesn't seem to relate much to anything (maybe constipation)

I fully expect to plateau at some point, I'm about a stone off where I was at the hight of covid, so I might hover around there for a time, we will see.

I also (pretty much) daily weigh, it helps me to. If I've gone up I think 'have I had enough water...when was the last time I actually 💩(tmi but constipation is my main side effect!!) have I eaten to much salt, etc. The small gains genuinely don't bother me, they just help me to keep things right on track (hopefully) for weigh day on Saturday.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2024 16:30

I think it's only me who only weighs weekly

I know weight goes up and down and depending what one has eaten or has done a big poo - remember my 7lber

Tho not sure that's a thing to boast about 😂

weaseleyes · 01/10/2024 16:33

I will never forget your 7lber

I am another daily weigher, I find it really helpful to see the fluctuations. I don't get too disheartened by a gain because I have got to know the patterns and what leads to temporary gains. It also means there's less pressure on weigh day.

Princessandthepie · 01/10/2024 17:03

I was weighing every day but now I weigh every other or every 3 days.
For me, experience has taught me weight goes up and down, you will have a plateau and I've accepted that.

Gains are plateaus are going to happen so there's not point in me getting upset, giving up etc like I have done in the past.

MJ is not a cure, it's a tool so I have to accept that things will happen that I don't like but I have to step back and look at the bigger picture, my weight is going down, I'm getting healthier, I'm making far better food choices, I'm still not drinking alcohol, my body is slowly and surely changing.

So when things don't go our way, consistency is the key that will help, keep going, keep making better food choices, keep believing that you can do this.

MabelSpan · 01/10/2024 17:25

I sometimes get on the scales daily, just to watch the fluctations, which I find quite fascinating! I have gone up by 5.6lbs before in one day, then it might drop by a lb, go back up, its crazy how our bodies just do their own thing, regardless of what we think they should!
I would say to anyone who finds seeing the scales going up and down randomly, distressing, dont do it, put them away. Dont stress yourself, cortisol only adds to perceived weight gain.
Stick to once a week or month, same day, same time, same place, same clothes...or not!😊
