@KittyGetSmall I'm a serial weigher but only record once a week. I avoided the scales for months/years and this is how I put all of this weight on. I'm trying to heal my relationship with the scales and understand that gaining and losing the same lb throughout the week is a natural fluctuation. If it looks like it's gone up but I'm doing all the right things then I just up my water intake and trust it will settle with time.

I liken it to looking at my bank balance daily to manage my spending; I'm giving time to check in with myself each morning and remind myself why I'm making all of these changes.

However, I will be very hypocritical this weekend when my new scales arrive and I fuss over the new reading matching the old one!

theluckiest · 23/09/2024 12:55

So I'm now worried about my parcel going awry!!

Anyone got any idea how long it took from placing the order to parcel arriving from MedExpress?

I ordered yesterday and asked them to deliver to my work address. However, there's no one here after 6pm.

Royal Mail are still 'expecting it' and haven't started tracking yet so I'm hoping it'll be tomorrow morning. 😬

Have I cocked it up already?!!

Bellyblueboy · 23/09/2024 13:12

I ordered at 7pm on Thursday night and it has just arrived!

I will never again order at the end of the week as the weekend means it is in the post for nearly three days.

I'm still really struggling with constipation. Have tried lactulose, dulcoease, dulcolax and senokot. I'm also taking 6 tablets of psyllium husk a day.
I had to use a suppository the other day, which was great at fixing the problem for that day, then I go back to constipated!
Anyone have any suggestions of something else to try.
I have a telephone appointment with the nurse tomorrow, so will talk to her about it too

Itisallgoingtobeok · 23/09/2024 13:57

I've had a couple of little wins today. I've lost 12lbs so far and despite my still hefty weight, someone has noticed and congratulated me! Secondly, a watch that had a non adjustable strap and didn't fit now does fit. It's got a lot of sentimental value so I'm really pleased about that.

Has anyone else had any non-weight related wins?

Taking Epsom salts always works (within a couple of hours) but it's slightly drastic and you need to stay home till it's finished working its magic!

www.healthline.com/health/digestive-health/epsom-salt-for-constipation#use

You can buy food grade Epsom salts on Amazon for about £7

20bloodypounds · 23/09/2024 17:16

well done @violetsunrise @Peachesandfizz @HippoPortlyMouse @simb and all others who are having good and steady losses. This stuff is quite amazing.

I found myself hungry yesterday for the first time in 3.5 weeks. My dgc were staying over so I'd eaten breakfast with them and then felt quite 'nibbley' all day. I had some yogurt with nut granola and mixed grains but my head was looking for some crisps.

Today I was back to skipping breakfast with no problem. Lovely cheese, ham and veg frittata (with a couple of slices left for the rest of the week) and tonight is sausages and veg.

Is anyone else with Numan? I'm finding problems with their app and I'm not getting much joy with resolving it.

Thelastdietever · 23/09/2024 17:30

KittyGetSmall · 23/09/2024 11:15

Anyone else a serial weigher and trying not to be?

I always weigher daily and it's no good for my head.

I'm trying to do things differently with mj and weigher in once a week is one of those things.

I find it really hard to not get on the scales though!

I’m the same I got the OH hide them that didn’t work as just told him to get them (yep he’s a good boy 😜) the first 2 weeks it worked third week left them out 2 days after 2nd weigh in gained the 5 lb I lost really weird when came the week 3 thank goodness lost 5 plus 1 more

How much are you actually eating and drinking and do you feel constipated or are you just not pooing as frequently?

If you are low carb and eating less then you may not need to poo every day, even if that's what you were used to.

As per NHS:
Check if it's constipation
It's likely to be constipation if:
• you have not had a poo at least 3 times during the last week or you're pooing less often than usual
• the poo is unusually large or small and is dry, hard or lumpy
• you are straining or in pain when you have a poo
• you feel like you haven't fully emptied your bowels

alwaysscared · 23/09/2024 18:02

@InfoSecInTheCity yes definitely feel it's in there, it just won't come out. I am going a good three days between poos and have had to use laxatives to get them out. It's very frustrating and painful

SwiftiesVSLestat · 23/09/2024 19:23

i am doing injection number 4 tomorrow. I am going to try and get half the bonus dose out to give me a 3.75. I haven’t had any bad side effects so far. Really worried if I go up to 5 I will get some bad ones, so trying half way.

I have been quite surprised today. I felt actually really hungry mid afternoon. Then I realised I have not felt hungry like that in ages. I would always feel hungry, all the time, I have been feeling like I can’t eat much, but it’s like I had forgot what it felt like to be properly hungry and it only hit me then that I haven’t felt like that at all since starting.

and the best thing was I was an hour away from finishing work so cracked on and the hunger wasn’t all I could think about. I came home and had dinner and I feel full again.

Tomorrow is going to be a challenge as we are having a working lunch which will be a buffet, with lots of cake and I always find the day of my injection the hardest to keep away from rubbish food. But I suppose it’s a chance to exercise some of my own control.

I wouldn't.. do 4. Then on the 5th week you do the bonus which will be more than a 2.5 shot.. if you haven't wasted much with the priming then your 5th shot could give you 3.75mg..

I personally don't use syringes so my 5th dose was 2.5mg.. but I could of got a tiny bit more, but I just used the hard twist method..

Justasmallgless · 23/09/2024 19:36

Well done losers - some great results on here.
I too have having poo issues and tummy is quite sore now.
Not lost any weight in 3 days and hoping if I can have a good clear out then might get a whoosh on the scales too!

I had a pair of Wallis jeans I loved but they were too small for me by the end of 2021. I’ve lost about half a stone this year very slowly … and they’d just about got to the point I could zip them up but not wear them … but 6lb down this week and I wore them on Saturday all day. Made up!

sylv165 · 23/09/2024 19:48

Has anyone tried moving their injection day forward by a day? I took my first last Tuesday, but ideally I would have Friday as jab day to try and minimise the impact of side effects on work. I was thinking of having a jab every 6 days so my day gradually moves back to Friday before I increase my dose to 5mg

I'm doing the opposite, but for the same reason! (I added an extra day on last week, and will do the same this week too, as long as I don't feel too nibbly.)

I should have been more patient and just started on a Friday in the first place!

jollyfedup · 23/09/2024 20:12

Final jab of the first pen done! This week I lost 2lbs which was another smaller loss but still in the right direction.
Thank you everyone who replied about the smart scales, it helps to hear from other people and there's no one I can really talk to in real life! My partner is supportive bless him but has never had weight issues or food issues.
Total loss is 13lbs in 3 weeks which is fab! I feel so much better in myself: more energy and a lot less back pain. I ache but that's because I've actually done a workout rather than the usual aches and pains of life.
I'm nervous to start the 5mg dose next week but equally am excited. I really want to lose this weight and feel motivated. I've decided to reward myself at different increments. First one being a stone loss which is only a pound away- thinking some new leggings or trainers as I am going to join the gym. Is anyone else doing rewards?

OldKnees · 23/09/2024 20:50

Anyone else feeling awful? After a misguided Chinese takeaway on Friday (jab day), I had D&V all weekend plus the sulphur burps from Hades itself.

Thought I was feeling nearly normal again today, eating small, bland meals (Greek yoghurt and granola for breakfast, crackers with apple and a bit of cheese for lunch), but supper seems to have been a meal too far (small baked potato, broccoli and tuna) and I’m back to rumbling, burping and feeling as if I might throw up at any second.

Anyone else been through this? I’ve mostly been fine up until this weekend (week 3) and now the gastric apocalypse!

I’m sure my jeans feel looser today!

I have had an email saying I should order my next pen. I can’t decide whether to order the 5mg pen or stick to the 2.5mg.

WonkyD · 24/09/2024 06:35

Is anyone carrying on with SW/WW whilst using MJ?

I am thinking of sticking with it as we still need to eat properly and it will give me home to help with maintenance.

Sampler · 24/09/2024 06:38

@OldKnees I found peppermint tea from Holland & Barrett, just their own brand, worked well. I had read about it here and thought I’d give it a try and I was quite surprised how well it worked re the awful sulphur burps. I had 2 cups and life returned to normal.
I did find it worked well in conjunction with live full fat greek yogurt with a little bit of honey added.

Planning on recruiting Dp to do the hard twist lol

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/09/2024 07:11

Should be having a call with the diabetes nurse today and getting my prescription for the 2nd pen. Think I'm going to go with 5mg if she agrees, I've had no side effects on 2.5mg, appetite suppression has been good, and weight loss is steady but not massive. Would be interested to see how I fare on a higher therapeutic dose rather than just the loading dose.

I did notice that my sneaky daily weigh in has me at a BMI of 30.7 which is a decrease from 33 a month ago and very nearly out of the obese range.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 24/09/2024 07:17

@Hildabaggins - well done on the loss and the jeans! It's nice to see the number on the scale go down, but I think these "real world" wins are even better.

I'm about to start month 2 and have stuck at 2.5mg. I have some suppression but not total now, and I'm learning to react to my hunger in a better way. I think staying at the lower dose will help me bed in good habits.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 24/09/2024 07:19

@onlyhereforthechaletschool congratulations on the jeans! It's a great feeling isn't it? A tangible success!
