@EatingTillIDie far from an expert here - trying to retrain myself too! I’ve tried so many diets that I get muddled.
what’s working for me is:
Greek yoghurt and homemade granola with loads of nuts and seeds for breakfast. OR I skip breakfast sometimes and just have coffee.

if I’m not eating big meals and want to boost my calories I have things like peanut butter on apple slices or hummus and carrot sticks for snacks: both have fibre and protein and are easy to grab. If I am eating decent meals - and I’m still going for the side of veggies before anything else - I snack on snack a Jack rice cakes. They are basically empty calories but I like them and they feel substantial to me.
I’m orienting most of my lunches to eggs as I’m mostly veggie, have become a big fan of a wee omelette as it’s quick, even if not hungry I quite enjoy it, and it’s good for protein.

I really wanted to not skip meals when my kids would notice (ie dinner). So the extra few minutes to make a side of greens is a good solution for me.

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/10/2024 10:03

A good one for quick and easy veg sides is the steam bags of prepared veg, you'll can get them frozen or fresh in the veg section, they go straight into the microwave as they are for 3 minutes. So easy for a meal side or just a quick meal with a boiled egg or some chopped up deli meat.

StanleyCup · 12/10/2024 10:23

Well this week has not been a great week. Had a mad week at work so more carbs and snacking, so i havent lost anything stuck at 12:10. Some of this maybe water weight but anyway current losses.

SW- 13.10
Wk 1 - 13.3
Wk 2 - 13.1
Wk 3 - 12.13
Wk 4 - 12.10
Wk 5 - 12.10 (bonus dose)
UGW- 10

I managed to take the bonus dose last week, i think i may have got just over 2.5 mg out. I dont know if it was the increase in dose slightly, or the fact i wasn't eating healthily that i felt nauseous throughout. I felt when i had heavy carb heavy meals i felt sick straight after. Im sticking to 2.5mg from my 5mg pen this week hoping it’s enough to keep suppression and side effects down.

violetsunrise · 12/10/2024 10:40

@StanleyCup I wish I hadn’t bothered with the bonus 2.5 dose. Suppression wore off very quickly and I was a lot hungrier sooner than previous weeks and ended up with a gain of 1lb. It’s not that much in the grand scheme of things but I was kicking myself. First 5mg dose I took a day earlier than normal and it’s looking good for a decent loss (weigh day tomorrow so what I was doing weighing myself today I don’t know and have probably set myself up for more disappointment if the scales don’t stay the same as today or go down more 🙄😅).

@EBoo80 Sadly I need some empty calories and carbs in my life and while I’ve ditched the crisps no problem since day 1, I have been snacking on the jumbo Marmite rice cakes. Either plain or with some cream cheese on top (with maybe a little marmite mixed in).

theluckiest · 12/10/2024 12:11

Had an alright week - I'm now on the third week and after a spectacular first week of 5lbs off, it's slowed dramatically.
Still 8lb down now so I'll take that.

Got one more 2.5mg to go next week then I'm onto the bonus dose hopefully!

I've already got my next 5mg pen but I'm unsure what to do. The week I'm due to increase to 5mg, I'm going away for a romantic anniversary thing. I really don't want hideous gastric issues or to feel horrible so I was thinking about either sticking with 2.5mg that week or increasingly slightly to 3.75mg. What would you folks recommend?

SW: 15st 1
CW: 14st 7 (it hovered to 6 briefly but I'll be patient!)
GW: anything under 12 stone initially!

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/10/2024 12:15

Right not sure I have the right words to adequately describe this so gonna do the best I can and hope it makes sense and resonates with someone.

Has anyone else noticed their belly fat going all soft and marshmallowy, like it's deflated and more squidgy than usual?

I'm currently fascinated by my belly, keep smooshing it because it's all floomphy. Even my daughter when laying on me last night said how comfy my belly was like a bit squashy pillow (think she thought it was a complement but not sure it actually was).

I decided not to think too much about it and just follow the recommended schedule. I had no adverse reactions when starting the 5mg but also didn't have any gastric issues with the 2.5mg so have been lucky so far with a lack of side effects.

HOL2024 · 12/10/2024 13:03

Weigh in day today after taking the bonus dose of 3.33 last week.

week 1 -6.8lbs
week 2 -2.7lbs
week 3 -4.1lbs
week 4 -3.1lbs
week 5 -4.1lbs

Total loss -20.8lbs.

Just debating on sticking with 3.75 tonight out the 5pen rather than moving up to 5

Richtea67 · 12/10/2024 13:09

So just moved up to 5mg last night after failing miserably with getting the bonus dose out of my 2.5 pen..broke the bloody pen in half. I thought I needed to twist is past the 1!? Woke up this morning with a headache and hangover type feeling but seem to be better now. Good suppression...just had some veg soup and a yoghurt (felt too ill for breakfast). 9lb down in total in 4 weeks....seems small but I'm happy with that. SW was 14.7lbs and keen to get to 11stone something.

NugsNotDrugs · 12/10/2024 17:13

I’ve just taken my first 5mg dose and I feel a bit odd. I didn’t have any major side effects on the 2.5 so I’m hoping that it doesn’t get worse.
i was planning on having wine tonight but im not so sure now.

wohmum · 12/10/2024 18:06

2nd week of 5mg yesterday, 2.5 lb down.

had a late breakfast of porridge at about 10am and have been stuffed all day. Just starting to feel like I could eat something now.
I think I have 1 day each week when I can hardly eat anything , but the rest of the time I usually have 2-3 smallish healthy meals

. We’re at friends tomorrow for lunch so i
hope I can manage it - she’s a great cook.

SpiderMother · 12/10/2024 19:59

@wohmum I'm also 2nd week of 5mg. I did injection on Thursday night and totally struggled to eat anything yesterday, it was a bit scary actually, never felt like that before. I feel more normal today, well MJ normal in that I can take or leave food but don't feel unable to eat. I had soup and a protein bagel for lunch and about to have a small portion of meatballs and tomato sauce for dinner.

SpottyBumPony · 12/10/2024 20:13

I’ve had a funny day today. I’m trying to reduce my process foods , go veg forwards and recuse my meat intake.

This morning I kept getting really light headed so had some Greek yoghurt. I was still a bit dodgy at lunch time and had got to the point of not thinking properly so has a toasted cheese and hans sandwich on white bread.

By the afternoon I still felt like I needed carbs so ate some honeycomb (random but delicious). Dinner was 1/3 of a frozen pizza with kimchi and I’ve finished off with vanilla ice cream with olive oil.

I’ve no reason to have needed a rich day but I obviously did 🤷🏼‍♀️

MetabolismLost · 12/10/2024 22:00

I’m about to take my 2nd 5mg dose tomorrow morning. Up until this dose I’ve taken each one on day 6 and this week I finally don’t feel as if it is wearing off to the extent it has.
my other big win is that, according to my scales, my visceral fat has left the “exceeding range” and is now in “high”! I am now at level 14, down from level 17 when I began!

Seldomseenkid · 13/10/2024 08:01

Good morning! Weigh in number 5 and 1.5 pounds off. So just over a stone in 5 weeks, very happy and nudging closer to overweight not obese. I’m also half a pound off a new stone bracket which always gives me a little emotional boost, even though my main focus is sustained sensible weekly losses.

I’ve been on low doses since my rocky first week, so last week was 40 clicks of 2.5. This works well for me so I’ll continue this week.

I think I’ll now be moving towards the 1/1.5 a week loss as I’ve been adding in a few more calories each day. Just kefir, fruit and nuts to about 100 cals. My job is very busy over the next few months so I feel I need to ensure energy levels are up to the increased physical demands that my body will be under.

Yes!!!!!!! So so odd when I'm used to my belly being bloated and huge and all over if that makes sense? . It's now squidgy and low down?

Sampler · 13/10/2024 08:55

Weigh-in this morning and 3lbs down this week, so a total of 1 stone and 2lbs since starting after the first week of September. After the initial first week larger weight loss I’m now fairly steady at 2-3lbs a week. I’m eating fairly healthily and exercising and taking half doses of 5mg twice a week which suits me. I don’t want to go off food entirely as I need to exercise.
If I had adhered to a ‘normal’ diet based on self control I’d have fallen off the wagon by now. Last night I ate a small meal and had a solero for desert and was quite happy. It’s still really weird for me not to be grazing constantly.
The kitchen cupboards and fridge are gradually getting a makeover, there’s less and less bad (nutritionally futile) food around.
But it’s an ongoing process obvs.

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/10/2024 09:11

Thank goodness @Whereisthewine yes, low down, kind of feels like a partially deflated balloon.

I have to assume this is the effect of the fat cells being broken down and the poor poor abused stomach skin trying to decide what the hell its supposed to do now 😂 Think I need to invest in a body brush and some super strength moisturiser to start giving it a bit of TLC and apologising for my years of poor care.

Whereisthewine · 13/10/2024 09:17

@InfoSecInTheCity I'm the same it just looks a little bit sad and deflated lol! On the up side my jeans all fit perfectly now and some even too big!

Ah now here is one of the few downsides of living your life in jersey dresses. I could go down another 2 or 3 sizes before my clothes actually look too big to wear which means I'm going to have to wait ages till I can properly justify buying all new ones.

How do you do the half dose? And on which days?

mimosa1 · 13/10/2024 10:30

@SpottyBumPony i bet the portions were Still way smaller than usual. I could def have eaten a while frozen pizza pre MJ without any trouble!

I'm have a bit of a wobble, having put on a kilo this week. Combination of travel / birthdays etc. I'm still on 1.25mg as I seem to be very sensitive to side effects.

Still lost 4kg in 5 weeks so nothing really to complain about but most of it went in week 1.

violetsunrise · 13/10/2024 10:37

End of first week on 5mg (after taking the bonus 2.5 on week 5 and putting 1lb on) and I’ve lost 6lbs! That’s total of 21lbs in 6 weeks.

SW - 14st
CW - 12st 7

Sampler · 13/10/2024 11:16

@KittyGetSmall I do one dose (30 clicks) Sunday morning and another Wednesday evening. I watched a YouTube video and some info on Reddit and here.
Basically you prime the pen as normal except count the clicks, so instead of 60, stop at 30. It’s not entirely precise but suits me so far. I am trying not to go up as I’m getting decent suppression and because I go to the gym a lot I need to eat.

I use clean needles and keep everything sterile and pen in fridge btw.

Choux · 13/10/2024 11:21

@Sampler if you mark the pen with where 30 clicks gets to you won't need to count the clicks each time.
