Having read some of these updates, I'm terrified to go up to 5mg! And glad that my doctor kept me on 2.5mg. But, I'm hungry a lot, especially at night.
Maybe when they give me the 5mg I'll do 45 clicks for 3.75mg dose.

alwaysscared · 07/10/2024 14:51

Also, it won't let me tag babycakes, but I hope you are doing ok and they are looking after you well. You are ill, no need to be embarrassed! Flowers

HippoPortlyMouse · 07/10/2024 14:58

@KittyGetSmall it's Juniper I think. The manufacturers recommendation is 30 days though, which is what everyone else goes with. I imagine there is a fair bit of leeway in there, and it's personal choice to whether people choose to use a pen beyond that.

@alwaysscared it's okay to feel hungry! I do as well. It should be a manageable hunger though. I'm definitely at my hungriest today, having had my jab earlier and waiting for the suppression to kick in. I had a massive salad for lunch! 🥗

AutumnStars · 07/10/2024 16:18

Thanks @Seldomseenkid, I think I will try 1.25mg on the next one and see how that goes. I had to take today off work and can't afford to be doing that again. I've also ordered some peppermint capsules. Starting to feel a little better so fingers crossed it's onwards and upwards from here!

85reasons · 07/10/2024 17:44

I've had today off work too with horrible nausea, having gone up from 2.5mg > 3.75mg and then 4.15mg over past couple of weeks. Starting to feel a bit better but will definitely decrease dose next week.

mimosa1 · 07/10/2024 20:33

Oh hell, I've fallen into a large burger, fries and sweets today at dinner. It's highlighted for me that food is a reward and treat and that's not something MJ can fix. I'm alone in a hotel room travelling for work - am lonely and bored, and this was the result. The "I deserve it" mentality because I'm travelling.

It's only one meal and not the end of the world, but I'm frustrated with myself because it's not a happy celebration if ysmwim. I'd much rather have eaten this with friends over a laugh and a meal than as a consolation prize for having a not so nice evening.

Marathon not a sprint Confused

EBoo80 · 07/10/2024 21:55

I know that feeling @mimosa1.
Was just one meal though, and hopefully a useful reminder of a habit to watch out for next time.

SpiderMother · 07/10/2024 22:25

@mimosa1 I so get that feeling. I felt like that at the weekend. I was not hungry so managed to resist but knowing that urge to reward with food / eat because I’m bored is lurking in wait scares me.

Elephantino · 07/10/2024 22:58

@alwaysscared don't worry about it, I weigh daily and have noticed I'm going up and down ...as long as my average weight is down each week I'm going to focus on that.

I had a gain of 2lbs on weigh day (Fri) that was gone by the Sat (and back again today!)

I took 3.75 from my 5 pen on Friday, good suppression, will see how it goes.

My early period finally stopped after 10 days. I have the lurgy too so have been feeling sorry for myself the last week.

I've decided to buy one more 5 pen, if I don't get much weightloss by end of 3rd pen I'm deciding it's not for me.

I was 9lbs lost now only 5.7lbs since 1st Sept.

Thank you. I still have diarrhea (that's 5 days of hell now!), was in hospital last night and back tomorrow for a scan as they have found inflammatory markers in my bowel. Xx

HOL2024 · 07/10/2024 23:50

I’ve been yoyo-ing last weekend with a dominos and a not so good Saturday, so I went up two days in a row but with being good I’ve already reversed this (by morning) so I think a lot of it is learning moderation and not feeling too guilty

sylv165 · 08/10/2024 06:28

@mimosa1 it is really hard when travelling. I go away with work a lot (currently boarding yet another early morning flight!) and do find it difficult to resist the room service menu! Last week I managed to stick to salads, but am going out with colleagues tonight so will definitely be a challenge.

Had to weigh in a day early as I’ll still be away tomorrow. Another 1lb down, so 8lbs in 3 weeks. Delight with that, especially as my period is due and I usually weigh a little heavier at that time of the month.

KittyGetSmall · 08/10/2024 07:49

Amazing!!!! Well done you! I can't wait to see that 10 on the scales, currently 11st0 so it's close. 5mg pen finally arriving today

What is your goal weight?
Mine was very originally 11st but I started at 18stone about 3 years ago so it's been a long journey but now I'm thinking 9st9 but will have to see how I look

violetsunrise · 08/10/2024 09:08

Wish I hadn’t bothered taking the bonus 2.5 dose and gone ahead with the 5. Suppression had worn right off by day 5, and day 6 I ate way over my calories. As a result I put on 1lb (which I know was water weight) but so disappointed at myself. Took the 5mg a day early and today is the start of day 3 and the scales are showing 3lbs off. Will see what the end of the week weigh-in brings.

I shouldn’t be disappointed, 15lbs in 5 weeks is great. I think I’d be happy with another 10lbs off. I’d still be just in the overweight range but realistically going by my build etc I don’t think I’d suit being any lighter. But who knows, I might get there and change my mind.

KittyGetSmall · 08/10/2024 09:14

I don't know whether to take the bonus dose either or just go to 5mg. Or maybe just start my 5mg pen and take 3.75?

15lbs in 5 weeks is amazing! Don't beat yourself up over 1lb

violetsunrise · 08/10/2024 09:22

I should also add I’d just come off a 12.5 shift on day 6 which was mostly on my feet and rushing round (Care sector) and I always struggle to drink enough on these days. Sometimes I just want a nice strong coffee on my break instead of water.

Hildabaggins · 08/10/2024 09:27

It’s hard to know what is best! My side effects seem to have gone away completely and I’m concerned the suppression is wearing off. I’ve got another 2.5mg pen ready to go. I was really swithering about whether to get a 2.5mg or a 5mg one. I hope the 2.5mg one is ok. I guess I can always do a double dose or 1.5 doses if I feel I need to up it.

I have a friend who always comments on my weight loss. Every time I lose 2kg, she will say ‘oh you’ve lost weight’. I often wonder what she’s thinking when i then put the 2kg back on?? Anyway, I’ve not seen her for a few weeks and I saw her on Friday. She didn’t comment on my weightloss!! 😂😂😂 I’ve lost 4.5kg since I saw her last!!

Well done!

I'm looking forward to seeing 13 stone on the scales so still a ways to go till the heady heights of the 10s 😂

EBoo80 · 08/10/2024 09:47

For me it will be seeing 12s on the scales for first time since I stopped breastfeeding (kiddo just had 10th bday). BMI calculator says I should be aiming for the 11s but that feels like someone else’s weight not mine!

You'll get there! I was 18st at my heaviest

drowningbutwaving · 08/10/2024 10:28

I'm on my second week of 5mg, last jab was Friday. I've been fortunate and not really had many side effects since starting.

I was out for a meal on Saturday night. Was quietly smug and proud of myself that I was careful with what I ate and thought I'd been sensible. Until I woke up through the night with stomach pains, acid reflux and the most disgusting burps I've ever experienced! Envy

Since then I've been feeling awful, in bed for 2 days, unable to eat and barely drinking. Feeling slightly better today although still very delicate. I am no longer smug.

Considering dropping back to 2.5mg this week.

On the plus side, I lost 1kg between Friday and Monday Grin

85reasons · 08/10/2024 10:48

My nausea is still bad here - I'm definitely dosing less next week!

Sampler · 08/10/2024 11:00

5th week here and just over 5kg lost. 13cm off waist and I can see fat loss. I am conscious of not losing weight too quickly and I’m being all sensible with food and I’m exercising. I’m worried about looking like a melted marshmallow if I lose weight too quickly.

I am still doing 2.5mg but got a 5mg pen and did 30 clicks and may take it every 4/5 days if I feel I need it. I don’t think I want (nor need) the same level of suppression I got in the first 2 weeks. My digestive system seems to have calmed down, no bad side effects and I feel quite ‘normal’. I don’t have any mad cravings and I can’t eat large portions so that’s fine for me. For me, the smaller doses seem to be working fine and reading this thread I’m reluctant to move up to 5mg in one go just yet.
I think a lot depends upon your routine though, I can control what I’m eating and where 90% of the time due to my lifestyle and I realise if I was having to eat out a lot or work full time it would be very different and more difficult.

Chins up !
