This is my accountability thread and reminder I need to inject on a Wednesday night.

First jab completed tonight with help from DP. Forgot to pinch skin and pulled it out at weird angle scratching myself, other than that all good.

Starting weight 202lb on my period so bit bloated - let's see how I go. Will most likely weigh daily as I do anyway but only note it down when it's a loss.
Hoping for a good night's sleep with no side effects.

Zarzee · 18/09/2024 22:21

I started yesterday morning good luck 👍🏼

MadamTeapot · 18/09/2024 22:23

Good luck. I started on Saturday and am about 210lbs. Make sure you drink even if you don’t eat as not hungry. I’ve found myself taking a glass up to my room for the evening, which I never do!

SilenceInside · 18/09/2024 22:34

Hope it goes well for you. Are you taking Mounjaro or Wegovy?

Doggymummar · 19/09/2024 07:12

Thanks for the comments everyone, and best of luck on your journeys too.

I hadn't expected any comments, was just gonna be my diary so that's a nice bonus. I'll give you a bit of background as I have a thread on here going back about 18 months where I was taking Rybelsus which is the tablet form of Ozempic.

I started in March 2023 at BMI 42 weighing 250lbs size 20 and feeling pretty rough.

I lost a steady stone a month for the first 4 months but had a really tough time eating enough and had terrible hair loss and vomiting. In August 2023 I went to Edinburgh and I through up everything I ate for a week so I stopped taking it. My partner didn't know I was taking it and though I must be seriously ill with the sudden weight loss and what not.

I started taking the tablets again May this year, having gained ten lb in 9 months hoping to lose the last 4 or 5 stone, I told my partner this time in case I was bad again. But this time it just didn't work. In three months I lost the ten lbs but nothing else and it is too expensive to just maintain. I spoke to the supplier I use, Chequp, and the nutritionist suggested swapping to Mounjaro. I have taken a week off in between and started yesterday. Apparently the 2.5mg is the same strength as the strongest dose of Rybelsus so I am a bit worried about side effects at the higher dose. So that's the history and why I am not expecting to lose weight rapidly as I am already used to suppression.

Day one slept well, woke up needing to poop at 6.30 let's see what the day brings. Good luck everyone

Good luck OP. Ordered my pen last night after weeks of dithering!

Doggymummar · 19/09/2024 07:38

Fab news. It's great to take control

Went to Sainsbury's walked out without buying anything ! Didn't fancy anything at all.

Went to Waitrose and bought wine and weekend snacks for other half. My treat was Merchant Gourmet lentils and quinoa.

Not eaten today, not hungry. Promised we would fave fish and chips so I will have to steal some from IH plate as I won't eat a portion. Thus is where the money saving comes in. No side effects.

Good luck. There is so much useful information and support on MJ.

DrinkReprehensibly · 19/09/2024 18:06

Well done Op! I am going to take my first dose ever of Mounjaro this evening. Fingers crossed no side effects like you.

Just took my first dose. Took me a few minutes to work up the courage which was crazy as in the end it didn't hurt at all! Don't think I'll have any issues with courage now I know what it feels like. Had support from my DH who has to inject himself regularly for Crohn's disease. His injection pens are the sort that click and sound like a stapler... They look like they would be more painful. I'm drinking lots of water as I've read it helps to keep hydrated.

Doggymummar · 19/09/2024 22:33

I was terrified yesterday but I didn't even feel it. I have awful farts right now, but that could be anything!

How are you feeling @Doggymummar? I didn’t eat at alll on Wednesday then yesterday I had a tuna jacket potato and salad at lunchtime and then when I went to bed at 11pm I realised I hadn’t eaten anything else. Absolutely no urge to, didn’t even go in to the kitchen or think once about food. I’m drinking plenty - even took a thermos of tea with me to the beach with the kids after school…cool Mum alert 😂.

Today I’m going to make up a big batch of some hearty soup and blitz, I might fancy some of that more than food.

Doggymummar · 20/09/2024 09:33

Nice one @MadamTeapot so for today's check-in

Yesterday I ate rubbish all day, three packets of crisps, almond croissant and chips shop fish and chips. Plus two vodka Seltzer's 1700 calories. I was quite easily able to eat, I think this dose is too low for me having been on 14mg Ry for over a year, I will have to employ will power!

Pooped this morning and no side effects so far. Need to step up to the next dose quickly, my prescription is drawn up on the last day of the month so when the 5mg arrives I might double up and take 7.5 mg for the last two weeks, and then be ready for 7mg in November.

I knew it would be a pain switching from one to the other it's just something I need to get through to get to the end goal.

You’ll get there, you know why it’s happening and that helps.

Doggymummar · 21/09/2024 06:18

Saturday

Bad sleep last night, under three hours according to Sleepio so today is gonna be hard.

No suppression yesterday. Starving, 1800 calories, woke up ravenous.

No toilet as yet. Gonna be a tough month waiting for 5mg. Food shopping arriving tomorrow with lots of high protein options so hopefully some healthier choices will keep calories 👎

I took my first dose yesterday evening and did not sleep well last night.

Have a light headache and nausea but period just started so could be that, not the mj.

Doggymummar · 21/09/2024 10:37

It's hard to tell sometimes if it's a side effect or just normal life. I hope it's bearable for you.

Update - afternoon poop and had healthy options for lunch. Made chicken Tikka for dinner to have with quinoa which I am looking forward to. No snacks yet, but very hungry 😞

I didn't think anything much was going on but just realised it's 2.30 and I've not eaten yet.

Doggymummar · 21/09/2024 14:47

Make sure you drink plenty and eat enough protein. I had massive hair loss and now have a weave to cover the bald patches.

Edited

I've been through all that. I've had a gastric sleeve and have autoimmune issues. I'm used to hairloss. Doesn't bother me at all
