I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

It’s my first week weigh in day for me and a loss of 4lbs. I’m trying to decide if I’m happy with that or not. If I’d done something like weight watchers I’d expect to lose 5-7lbs in my first week BUT the key thing is I haven’t really felt like I’ve been dieting and that’s the difference. I probably have eaten more than I think I have as well so will make an effort to track my calories and macros this week.

Whats the general consensus on tracking- do people do it or not? I’m in two minds as think I ought to but I also want to get out of the diet headspace which I associate with it.

I’ll do my 2nd jab later this afternoon/evening.

I’ve been tracking but I only started on Thursday. I’d love to get to a point where I don’t track what I eat. If I don’t track, I pile on the weight.

I am going to do my next injection tomorrow. I weighed myself this morning, I’ve lost 1.4kg (3lb) so far. Like a previous poster said, I’m not sure how I feel about this, as with other diets, I would lose up to 7lb in the first week. But I am not ravenous like I normally am and I don’t feel like I’ve struggled so I must focus on that.

Thanks for the advice @SpottyBumPony @morbidcuriosity and @Justasmallgless

I was at work so had no chocolate to eat and knew if I stopped at the garage on the way home I'd buy too many and gorge on them.

Pathetic I know! I had 3 Mars bars Sunday night.

Anyway went straight to the gym and did a class. Then went to supermarket and bought some chocolate cookies.

However now I'm home I don't fancy one at all.

Not sure where the random craving came from. Maybe was a bit dehydrated?

Anyway weight-in tomorrow morning after my first week, so fingers crossed a good loss will be the kick up the ass I need!

Could be hormones? Sometimes I find the week before my period I crave chocolate.

What's the best way to get things moving bowel wise? I haven't been for 4 days and it's stuck (sorry tmi)
I will start taking pysillium husk but I need something to kick start it. Lactulose is not working

I sometimes take a supplement called glucammanon which is the fibre in those 'zero' or konjac noodles, it might help and also it is good for diets

I'm same as you and not tracking calories, as all that does is make me obsess about food. I'm just focusing on changing unhealthy habits and reducing portion size and carbs. I've sometimes wondered if this is the best approach and if I'm making the most of MJ. It's only my first week though, and after 4 days lost 2.5lbs, so expect it will be around 3-4lbs after the full week. I would much rather slow and steady...1-2lbs a week would be ideal as I think all the research points to this being more sustainable long term. If i get to the point where i'm not losing anything i may change my approach. Good luck!

SunshineAutumn · 18/09/2024 10:14

Hmmmm @Orangesandlemons77 strange you should say that! I don't get periods anymore but have been feeling a wee bit hormonal! But yeah it was exactly that pre-period yearning for chocolate! Weird!

20bloodypounds · 18/09/2024 10:15

3rd injection this morning. I'm on holiday so can't weigh and will just have to trust the process.

That said, I'm hopeful that my boobs are smaller. That would be good, my related family and inlaws are all lean and flat chested and I inherited the short apple shape with big boobs. When I walk into any family gathering I feel that all that anyone notices is my chest!

I am also imagining that there is a slight hollow beneath my belly button, like the big fat apple has a dimple where the core is 🤣

SunshineAutumn · 18/09/2024 10:21

Week 1 - Weigh-In

SW - 12 stone 4
CW - 11 stone 13

5lbs (2.2kg) in my first week!

I really thought it wouldn't work for me. Still not convinced it is working! Even though I'm the slimmest I've been in 4 years!

I've had no side effects at all. Don't feel I'm eating any differently! But obviously I am!!

My meal portions and choices were never the problem it was gorging on chocolate that was my downfall.

I've only got just over a couple of stone to lose so don't imagine I'll continue at 5lbs a week.

Great start though and so glad I started the journey,

I track sometimes - but mainly to ensure I’m getting enough protein and fibre. A totally different focus from tracking to lose weight!

Darkflames · 18/09/2024 11:00

Had my first injection on Saturday. I am a few lbs down this morning but my last weigh in was late afternoon.

I haven’t been tracking my food as it makes me quite obsessive.
Usually to lose weight I go low carb and intermittent fast - it used to work so well but last time the weight just wasn’t shifting. Even without doing those things I’m losing this time.

Sampler · 18/09/2024 11:04

I’m writing down (on my phone notes) what I’m eating with a rough idea of calories but mainly to ensure I’m eating enough protein as a pp said and so as not to lose track of eating enough food groups etc.

Orangesandlemons77 · 18/09/2024 11:08

I probably shouldn't mention this in case they take it away, but did you know if you say you are leaving e.g. Voy, they give you a £50 off your next order? Still seems a bit more expensive than the others though, so I'm not sure. It's the hassle of submitting photos etc again.

That's interesting isn't it. Wonder why it is different.

20bloodypounds · 18/09/2024 11:22

If I'm the same as previous weeks I'll find it difficult to eat very much for the rest of the day so I decided to have breakfast in a lovely cafe. Spinach, mushroom and cheese omelette. I ate less than half then just picked out all the spinach to eat. Seems like my body is giving me healthy messages.

Hello all! My first MJ pen has just been delivered. I'm planning on taking my first dose tomorrow morning.
I'm 5ft 2 and currently weighs 12st 7, having managed to lose a stone over the last 6 months, but now seriously stalled and I don't see how I can reach a healthy weight without this helping hand.
I haven't told anyone besides my husband and he has been super supportive.

Beynac · 18/09/2024 11:58

@20bloodypounds that's amazing. Day 3 week 2 and I'm not getting that much suppression but am at the point of not quite managing to finish my meals and not craving snacks.
I wanted to ask if anyone else has had a weird side effect of your skin on the side of the injection site feeling really sensitive (kind of like sunburn)? I injected in my abdomen but my hip hurts and the skin on my abdomen and thigh on that side is really sensitive. I have got a small bruise at the injection site this time (didn't last week and didn't have the weird sensitive skin either). I've also got a bruise on my thigh which is really sore but I bruise easily and I'm not sure if that is related or not.

raspberrymeringue · 18/09/2024 12:20

Hi all.

Week 2
Day 6

The suppression is immense, more so than same day last week, where I could feel it wearing off. I could literally not eat at all since the day after jab 2, but am forcing myself otherwise I feel very lightheaded and spacey. Drinking plenty, and now added a multivitamin. Going to order Electrolytes, do people find that they help, and how? Touch of nausea for the first time. Definitely feel any food I do eat needs to be high nutritional value, as not eating for pleasure. It feels very weird.

Has anyone else had a out of the blue, panic attack on MJ? I woke up in the middle of the night heart racing, felt in a total state of panic and so ill, seriously contemplated asking DH to call an ambulance or take me to A&E. Eventually it eased a bit and I did some deep breathing exercises. I haven't had this since I was pregnant with my youngest over 20 years ago (very traumatic pregnancy). So I wondering about the cause. Anyone?

I have heard other people saying they became anxious when taking it.

But Having low potassium and electrolytes can also make cause symptoms that are like similar to an anxiety attack.

So might not be the injection itself, but a side effect of needing electrolytes etc

Allmyfavouritepeople · 18/09/2024 13:01

Week 1
Day 6

Weighed myself and appeared to have lost 6lbs. (Massive caveat that I weighed myself on different scales in a different house last week but I've lost a couple of lbs at least as I weighed myself on Sunday with these scales)

Last year I managed to lose 6lbs in 4 unhappy months calorie counting and feeling hungry all the time. The only other time Ive had such a big first week loss is doing keto. On Weight Watchers etc I've never had that big first week drop.

I'm really focused on getting used to small portion sizes and I really enjoy that I'm leaning towards healthy choices rather than sugar.

The start of week 2 for me and I jabbed myself last night. Feel okay so far- woke up a little nauseous, but that seems to have passed for now. Couldn't manage breakfast at all but have just managed to have a chicken sandwich for lunch and have eaten it all.
I weighed myself this morning and I am 4.1 kg down(9lbs) in a week! I still have a long way to go and I know most of this will be water weight but will be happy if I can continue in the right direction at 1-2 lbs a week after this. I am eating normal foods at mealtime ( just smaller portions) and it has completely removed my urge to snack. Just no desire at all, even though crisps, biscuits and fizzy drinks are in the house- they hold no appeal. I hope it stays this way, but suspect suppression will start to wane at some point.
Has anyone noticed an improvement in menopause symptoms since starting MJ? I am 51 , still peri-menpausal but was struggling with various symptoms, particularly hot flashes. I haven't had one since starting MJ and my mood seems calmer without the food noise in my head constantly.

It is so good to read so many great results from weigh ins - they're so inspiring! @Ilovegoodison 9lbs is amazing!

I'm on week 1, day 3, and while I'm definitely eating less, I'm also feeling hungry. Well, I'm feeling empty, but not overly hungry, if that makes sense?

I have a conundrum and could do with some advice... I'm away from Thursday to Tuesday at a work event abroad, and Jab 2 is due Sunday. Do I take it with me, or hold fire until I get back on Tuesday and take it then? However, I'm then away again Thurs-Sat with friends, which is based on food and drink. Any side effects from jab 1 are barely noticeable, which is good.

So, would it make more sense to:

  1. Take jab 2 with me for this Sunday, then do jab 3 next Sun as planned
  2. Delay jab 2 while away and take it on Tuesday and hope I don't have side effects for Thursday-Sat?
  3. Delay jab 2 until next Sunday when all trips are over and done with.
raspberrymeringue · 18/09/2024 13:45

SwiftiesVSLestat. Thank you for your advice..
It is a problem not knowing whether the symptoms are caused by the actual medication or the restricted diet. I'm not generally a majorly anxious person, so this episode was quite a shock. The day before I had to finish work early as I felt so rubbish, and this morning I felt so fatigued. Having just googled what symptoms a lack of electrolytes causes, it seems I could well be suffering from this. Sat here with a banana and a glass of milk hoping that will help. Electrolytes ordered.

sylv165 · 18/09/2024 13:46

Day 1 for me after taking my 1st jab before bed. No noticeable side effects so far, but also not sure it has had a noticeable impact on my appetite. I have eaten well today but feel like it is more down to the motivation that comes with spending lots of money on a weight loss solution, rather than actual appetite suppression.

SW: 12st 2lbs
GW: 9st or thereabouts

Orangesandlemons77 · 18/09/2024 14:24

Where do you get the electrolytes please?

raspberrymeringue · 18/09/2024 14:34

@Orangesandlemons77 I searched online for well known brands and then ordered from Amazon, because of quick delivery. I ordered High5 Zero which Boots also sell, your local pharmacy might sell Electrolytes.
