The insulin syringes are so much easier and pain free. You inject at a 45 degree angle rather than straight in with the pen. I was terrified, but honestly it was easier than the pen needles.

AnnieMcFanny · 01/09/2024 18:48

I think for me with my horror of injections that even if the pen was/is more painful that an insulin syringe I’d still do the pen. The sight of the insulin syringe just well and truly gives me the heebie jeebies.

TrappedPotato · 01/09/2024 16:35

How do you inject with the insulin-type syringes? The needle is longer - does it still go all the way in like with the pen?

You insert it at an oblique angle.

Hello, hope there’s room for one more? I have been reading the threads daily for tips and information. I started MJ on 8/8 and have lost 3.8kg so far, now in my third week. I am 49 so expecting it to be a slow journey, but the lack for food noise for the first time I can remember has been magical by itself. I am experiencing good suppression so far and fairly minimal side effects.

I work in a school and am currently meal prepping for the coming week. Will be interesting to see how it goes once I’m doing a longer day. Also one of my pinch points has always been coming home from work and being hungry so hoping that will have diminished.

I'm a little confused. I took my bonus dose today. My supplier sends 5 needles so I used that. The pen wound on the first 20 clicks without me having to break the mechanism?? I injected that then broke the mechanism to get the rest out.
I am confused as to h ow I managed to get a third of a dose ( 20 clicks) without forcing it ?

Belle96 · 01/09/2024 21:44

I've seen all the posts on the bonus doses, I've actually been sent more than 4 needles with my pen, can I just inject as normal using one of these with the left over?

BigBagOfElbows · 01/09/2024 21:47

Hi everyone. I'm amazed how well 2.5mg is working for most of us. I've just had a week away and weighed when I got home on Saturday. I'm happy to report that nothing happened. No loss, but I didn't gain...unheard of!
We were staying in a caravan and I had to put the heating on for a couple of evenings. I'm usually a hot sweaty mess and it's only just occurred to me this may have been the Mounjaro.

i’ve been reading with interest and have decided to start … but have a busy few weeks coming up including a week away and my 60th birthday … how long does it take from registering to getting your first pen? I’ve been given a referral code for Numan .. has anyone used them?

JoyousSwan · 01/09/2024 22:36

I've done the bonus dose in my first pen today. I used an insulin needle and it wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be. This first month has flown by!

There's more than 0.6ml left over though.

I am with Numan
They are expensive so you have to ask them for a discount but they are very quick and no faff with photos or id

Yes but you need to twist hard to break the mechanism

So a bit of a strange one....maybe. I'm on injection number 2 of 2.5mg. I've found food noise has completely stopped or significantly reduced....but also....ALL noise! I'm a creative person and frequently have inspiration throughout the day to write etc but since starting the injections...nothing!!! I also have no depression, anxiety, over thinking etc. Now as someone who has suffered with depression, anxiety and probably undiagnosed ADHD my whole life, this is a welcome break...but also very quiet in there! 🙈 Anyone else?

I wanted to respond to this and say absolutely yes, I wrote virtually this same post when I noticed it on day 2-3. I’ve had a tough summer and anxiety was high, high enough that I was considering going to the GP to see about meds because I was just spiralling over anything.

MJ arrived and now I honestly never want to be off of it, it’s made that muc if a difference to my anxiety levels.

eeeeeeeee · 02/09/2024 00:16

Hi everyone, I just wanted to update on my progress:

On 31 July I weighed 74.4kg - this is the heaviest I have ever weighed. I took scales/body photos to get the prescription.

On 6 August I took my 1st dose, and today I weigh 68.0kg!

So it’s been a month since that horrendous photo, and 3 weeks of MJ. Averages out to around 2kg loss per week, though I actually reached 68kg last week. My weight fluctuated and evened out to a maintenance this week.

Maybe once I weigh again next jab day (Thursday) I might see another loss but happy with the results so far. I don’t look much different but I can start to see my figure coming back again.

eeeeeeeee · 02/09/2024 00:17

Also forgot to add that my goal weight is 50-55kg. I will hit healthy BMI at 55kg but I’d look better at 50kg (I’m short!)

Mum0ntherun · 02/09/2024 03:05

Hi All

just entering week 2 and doing well so far. Thanks for all the help and advice on here as well as the inspiration. I have a quick Q - the Bonus dose - I understand there is excess left in the pen at the end but is that the equivalent of 3.75 so a bridge to the next step up of 5mg and is that a fifth weeks worth? Txs

5kg below a healthy BMI is an enormous amount.
It's only 7 and a half stone.

In fact 55kg itself is only 8 and a half. How tall are you?

A lot of people on here have a goal weight of 68kg.

I understand your concern. I was a bit surprised as well but 50kgs is in the BMI green zone for people of between 5ft and 5ft 6 inches tall.

55kgs is in the green zone for people between 5ft and 5ft 9in.

I have a training day today for a new job I start in 2 weeks. I'm feeling so shit from mj so this will be a good test for if I'm actually going to manage working while taking mj.

I'll be gutted if I have to stop taking it as I'm losing around 0.2lb every day but I feel absolutely dreadful.

weaseleyes · 02/09/2024 07:17

Hope it’s not too bad @Rorpethy. It may be just me, but I was very anxious about the potential side effects of MJ and how it might affect me at work. But when at work it’s not been as bad as I thought - to some extent it distracted me from being preoccupied with how I was feeling, which I was probably overthinking a little.

Pinkjenny · 02/09/2024 07:33

I have to be honest, I've felt a little more rough since jab 2. I had a roast dinner last night and although I ate a third of what I normally would, it made me feel terrible. I just also feel a bit achy, somehow.

Fingers crossed it passes today. Hope everyone has a good day.

FlappingMadly · 02/09/2024 07:38

Good luck @Rorpethy
