I think it's the getting back on track that's critical rather than the holiday indulgence, which is something I have to learn. I've got a long history of disciplined dieting throughout the year, then going on holiday/Christmas etc, relaxing my restrictions and just not being able to get back into my stride. Then once the pounds start piling on, I just think fuck it and carry on eating my misery and sense of failure again. And these days, I don't need to eat very much of them to gain.

Aside from having a rather all or nothing temperament, which is a generally unhelpful trait and one I'm trying to moderate, I do feel like I'm very sensitive these days to the types of food I need to avoid in order to diet, like refined carbs, and I start to feel really altered after a while of eating them. I quite quickly get cravings, feel tired all the time, feel I can't be bothered to cook and only want instant things - i.e. junk. I think I really need to work at being able to treat some of these things as occasional. I'm hoping MJ gives me the ability to keep going past the point I usually get side-tracked.

That's brilliant. You are doing really well.

I was just musing, hope I didn't offend you

Goodness, not in the least!
I was just sharing how I had very few side effects. I wasn't at all offended.

I wonder if (maybe because I'm a nurse) it's because I treat the first signs of nausea, or diarrhoea, immediately.
I see a lot of posts from people who say they've had diarrhoea all night, or for six hours during the day. I take loperamide 4mg as soon as I get bad diarrhoea. And I take dimenhydrinate 100mg as soon as I feel sick.

I've got omeprazole for reflux (and Gaviscon) and if I'm constipated, I take 2 - 4 senna.

What I mean is, I treat the side effects straightaway. So they go away. I don't get many, that's true, but no way am I going to sit about feeling nauseated for hours, when I can easily treat it.

This! I'm exactly like this.

I have a feeling that most of us on here are like this.

I've spent years losing and gaining the same three stone. From 20st down to 17st and back up again.

It's disheartening.

But I'm 15st 9lb now. And I'm feeling so much better, so much more positive.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 31/08/2024 12:26

I just had lunch (really it was brunch!) and can't believe the difference. Used to have 2 slices of sourdough, an entire avocado, eight rashers of streaky bacon, two eggs.

One slice of sourdough, half an avocado, 4 bits of bacon and yes, two eggs, but I wanted some extra protein. It's insane how much I used to eat

TheShellBeach · 31/08/2024 12:29

Yes. And I always had room for more.

Yes!!! I'd have the massive bacon egg toast thing and then immediately want something else!

I find it's my hands and feet which are most affected.
It's an odd side-effect. It must be because the metabolism slows down on GLP-1s.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 31/08/2024 14:27

@TheShellBeach mine is all over :( it feels like I have a lawyer of ice under my skin, it's so strange'

ChunkyMunky · 31/08/2024 15:17

Following my youngest around soft-play today and kept having to stop to pull my jeans up, so I’m going to take that as a little win.

Tummy feels a bit off today; feels like constipation, but isn’t quite. 1st day of period though so probably that more than MJ.

Glittermoonlight · 31/08/2024 15:42

Jab 2 done, 2nd week.

first weigh in day

SW 13st11
CW 13st4

7lbs lost!! So happy! Although I think most of that is water, on a positive side my previous puffy ankles are back to normal🎉-suffer from high BP, so that’s amazing, & I think that’s what I’m most pleased about.
Plus now I feel my MJ journey has truly begun😊. Only side effects so far is some nausea & a few headaches, plus weird dreams. Nothing too awful.

I am very cold too. I love not being hot normally but this isn't very nice

TheShellBeach · 31/08/2024 15:46

Well done @Glittermoonlight!

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 31/08/2024 15:58

@Motnight I feel like it's the middle of winter!

FearMe · 31/08/2024 16:02

Could I join?
I'm on saxenda for the moment, started 8 Aug. There doesn't seem to be a Saxenda group.
I'm 4.3kg down so far. I'm amazed. Had some side effects like acid and constipation for a couple of weeks but they just vanished last week.
Looking forward to seeing if this rate of loss continues, from reading other posts there have been some fabulous results!

missperseverance · 31/08/2024 16:33

Please can I join? Did 3rd jab of 2.5 this week. My suppression is good but the nausea has been quite bad days 2&3 after jab. My weight loss has been good. 9lbs so far. I've ordered the 5mg. I was really unsure whether to go for it or stay on the 2.5 but in the end went with the 5mg. I'm worried about the side effects. For those of you who have gone from 2.5 to 5 how has it been? I'm hoping it won't be too horrendous. I know some people are doing a 3.75 dose but it seems a bit complicated to me? How do you know how many clicks to do? Do you use the same needle? I'm worried about messing it up!

Get some insulin syringes. It's much easier and safer than guessing.

I had no problems going from 2.5mg to the 5mg.
It worked even better and I didn't have bad side effects.

Edited

I took my bonus dose today and extracted 0.71ml, so just under 3mg - a good bridge to doing 3.75 next week.
I’m also feeling cold today and like @NeedSomeAnswersPlease it’s all over. This happened on jab day last week too but only lasted the day. It confuses me because I thought MJ sped up the metabolism, not slowed it down. Need to read up a bit more, clearly!
SW: 209 lb
CW: 196.6 lb
GW: 140 lb
Loss of 2 lb this week.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 31/08/2024 16:57

@Addictedtobeauty I think someone on here said it was because of how it affects the hypothalamus?

Velondra · 31/08/2024 17:13

Hi everyone, hoping to join you as have started this week.
Feeling OK so far, definitely noticing a difference in my appetite as I just can't face my normal portion sizes at all.
I do feel like by belly is empty all the time but not hungry if that make sense, like there's a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach.

SW 330
CW327
GW 160 I think

I have lost weight before and got down to 210lbs ish but it all puled back on when I stopped running and exercising like mad.
I'm 37 nearly 38 and I can't carry on like this, I just want to feel normal.

TheShellBeach · 31/08/2024 17:16

Hi @Velondra and good luck!

Addictedtobeauty · 31/08/2024 17:27

Welcome @Velondra - I too have spent many months exercising like a lunatic then getting heavier once stopping despite eating reasonably well. For me, weight started piling on at about your age. Looking back, it was a mixture of stress and peri- nothing seemed to work on shifting it though and it always got worse after my major efforts. I’m so thankful to have discovered this medication. It’s given me hope!

AnnieMcFanny · 31/08/2024 17:31

I had my 3rd 2.5mg dose on Thursday evening and have had an upset tummy today. We always have lots of different things and I opted for a portion of corned beef pie and beans then 2 tablespoons of bread and butter pudding, 2 spoons of apple crumble and ice cream. It’s not what I’d normally eat at all and the other main dishes were Italian themed and what I’d normally have. I’m now wondering if it’s the mounjaro that’s caused the tummy upset today or if it’s what I ate - was it just too rich? I hadn’t had corned beef pie for years and when we were sorting out the meal in the family WhatsApp group I took the something random part of the meal to make.
