Anyone else notice an improvement in their blood pressure?
I have had high (lower end, no meds) bp for at least 2yrs that I am aware since I became perimenopausal.
My GP has been asking for a weeks worth of readings for a while but I kept forgetting, then yesterday I took a reading and blow me down it, it was 120/80
I thought that was a fluke so repeated it and got 115/77!
Still not believing it I have just taken it again and will now do my 3x a day for a week for the GP and it was 123/80. 😀

I have been trying to reduce it through consuming walnuts, extra virgin olive oil and other things I cant remember atm, but as I am still heavier than I was last year I wasnt expecting this!

Also noticed that when bending down/forward the pulsing in my ears has gone!

I had read this might be another health benefit of mj, but I didnt think I would see such a rapid improvement, I am only on jab 3 at 2.5mg, this is fantastic! 😃

There is a whole article on the front page of The Times saying that weight loss drugs seem to be providing a whole list of benefits such as lowering blood pressure.

First weigh in.

SW 14st 9.5
CW 14st 3.5

I am absolutely over the moon. Ran upstairs to tell dh who doesn't actually know and thinks I've managed to lose 6lb in a week with smaller portions and more healthy choices Hmm

But that is exactly how you have lost it! MJ hasn'tT melted fat away .

Feeling very queasy this morning after my first 5mg jab yesterday. Hoping it wears off as the day goes on on the plus side I definitely couldn't eat anything 😆

I also had my first 5 mg jab yesterday. I am feeling ok but definitely not up to eating anything.

Timetochange24 · 31/08/2024 09:12

I've also put a typical day's food (pre-medication) into MFP and it's no wonder I've been piling on the weight. 950 calories a day in snacks 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don't know how I thought that could work...

Ooo I'm going to try that and see what I was eating before compared to now.

Second jab done. I wonder what number jab it'll be before I can just do it without having shaky hands from nervousness and convincing myself I'm going to have an allergic reaction/stroke after I've done it 😆

FlappingMadly · 31/08/2024 09:57

Hi all. Just done my first dose today. I don’t have a huge amount to lose but carry a lot round my stomach. I need to lose about 6kg to get back to my comfy weight but then more than that too. I exercise a lot and have spent years yo-yo dieting but I’ve found it so hard since getting older. I had lunch about 1:30 then injected at 4pm. I would normally be thinking about dinner by now but I don’t feel like eating at all - does it work that quickly?! Probably just my brain telling me otherwise.

also does anyone here vape or used to? How has mounjaro affected that? I’d like to cut down and then quit properly so if it helps with that also that would be an added bonus

I do. Sadly it hasn't helped me cut down! It did taste a bit sweet initially but I'm used to it now. I've seen other people say it's helped though. Fingers crossed for you!

MabelSpan · 31/08/2024 10:03

Thanks @FlappingMadly I am absolutely chuffed to bits. I hope everyone else with high BP gets the same result.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 31/08/2024 10:11

Hello! I've just been approved and hope to get my first one next week. Is there any advice you have for when to do first injection, anything to prepare for side effects? I've already implemented some lifestyle changes and am hoping the addition of the injection will help me create some good long lasting habits.

It's wonderful reading all your posts. For the first time in a very long time I feel as though I have a chance.

Fourfurrymonsters · 31/08/2024 10:22

Good morning - may I join you? Been losing and gaining the same stone for over 20 years now and dithering about Mounjaro for months with that uncomfortable feeling of somehow “cheating” but then thought fk it, if I had depression I’d seek treatment, so here I am. Had my first 2.5mg injection last night, woke a couple of times with quite nasty indigestion and slight nausea, but I do have gastric issues anyway so not a surprise tbh. Not hungry this morning whereas usually I’d be reaching for the sugary tea and buttered toast. Haven’t even told DH I’m taking this until I’m sure it’s going to work for me.

SW 14st 11lbs at 5ft 6in. Post menopausal, Hashimoto’s disease, joint issues and IBS. Just started HRT a few weeks ago and almost immediately gained 5lb 😬
GW 10st 7lbs.

I’ve had a very rough year so far and I’m terrible for comfort eating so I’m really hoping MJ will allow me a bit of head space to get that under control.

eeeeeeeee · 30/08/2024 23:07

Can anyone help explain the weird way I’m feeling? I’m not sure what to do.

I had my 4th jab yesterday.

Earlier today I ate but had an upset stomach/loose bowel (sorry tmi) which isn’t normal for me. Since then I’ve sipped water throughout day. I just feel bizarre. I have a dull/numb sensation in my tummy, as if I’m very hungry or very thirsty. I’m not sure if that’s what it is as I have no appetite or desire to eat, though I can’t stop thinking about eating because of how my stomach feels. It’s like I want to eat but can’t. It almost feels a bit like nausea

I was exactly the same on my 4th jab! It surprised me as I had been fine after the 2nd and 3rd. I am due to move up to 5mg next and am a bit anxious as I felt so awful on the 4th

DitzyDoes · 31/08/2024 10:28

Did anyone see the news today that these potentially slow down the aging process?

FlappingMadly · 31/08/2024 10:28

Ahh, it’s fab @MabelSpan
I’m chuffed for you!

HappilyRed · 31/08/2024 10:32

Hi all, took my first dose on Wednesday evening and think the initial side effects are easing. Felt so nauseous on Thursday and struggled to eat much of anything and slept on and off through the day (reminded me of early pregnancy tiredness), a little better yesterday and touch wood feeling much more normal today.

Have people found any initial side effects recurring after each jab or more so when they up a dose? Might need to change my jab day to a weekend if it’s a weekly thing!

lookathatbookcase · 31/08/2024 10:38

First 'upgrade' today, from 2.5 to 3.75 (felt like some kind of Jonny Lee Miller hacker, counting my twists to get the right amount). Somehow lost a bit more in the last few days so, after a month I'm at:

SW: 15 st 8 lb
CW: 14 st 8 lb

Also tried on a favourite skirt this morning which was too snug to fit before, and now it goes on easily :) Don't think I'm at the stage yet where you can tell I've lost weight - I was out swimming with friends last week and still felt very whale-like, but happy with these small victories.

weaseleyes · 31/08/2024 10:41

@HappilyRed I think people who've had side effects tend to get a bit of a resurgence with each jab, but it seems variable. I've had three so far, and have had side effects with each one, but much reduced. I don't work Fridays, so took mine Thursday evening so I wouldn't be too impacted.

AuntieDote · 31/08/2024 10:56

I’ve changed my mind on my next pen and should be getting the 5 on Monday.

Can anyone tell me how many clicks to get 3.75 out of a 2.5 pen as I may use my bonus dose to do this to step myself up more gradually? And then how many clicks to get the same from a 5 pen - in case I decide to do it the next time also.

Last full day of holiday today.

45 clicks I believe x

From the 2.5mg pen, 0.9ml is 3.75mg.

From the 5mg pen, 0.45ml is 3.75mg.

Use insulin syringes for accuracy.

I was just wondering (in my very non scientific mind) if it's something to do with how much fat there is where you inject 🤣

It makes no difference. Your body absorbs a subcutaneous injection in the same way, no matter how much fat there is in the patient's body.

Every jab I feel so tired , headache , nausea and wee 6 times a night ffs for 3/4 days then ok

@TheShellBeach I was just wondering, as people say different areas have different strengths of side effects

I don't honestly think that's true.

Diabetics inject several times a day, into various areas on their body, and they absorb insulin in the same way and at the same rate.

It's all just subcutaneous fat, at the end of the day.

Been absent due to holiday. Week 5 now. Had my first 5ml last night. To be honest I was desperate for it the last few days of the holiday

Was doing good from 16st 1lb to 15st 4lbs and weighed myself yesterday and was up to 15st 9. Could have cried. But it has shown me willpower does also need to be worked on.

Hadn't actually eaten anything too bad till day 3 out of 5. Then had pizza and extra beers. Oh well its about balance and not punishing myself.

So onwards and upwards. And well done to everyone.

I gained after being on holiday, but it soon came off again.

Tbh I was expecting it. I ate so many ice creams.

But I got back on track when we got home.

Not much in the way of side-effects. From reading everyone's comments it seems the more affected you are, the bigger the loss

Actually I've had very few side-effects, and I have lost 30lb in 9 weeks.

That's brilliant. You are doing really well.

I was just musing, hope I didn't offend you
