Today I took the first dose of my 5mg jab.

9/8 SW 17st 4
5/9 CW 16st 3

Pretty delighted but it doesn't feel real. I haven't really gone without anything, just hugely decreased portions. Still had takeaways but gone for kebabs with veg/salad.

But the constipation! I'm lucky if I pass 3 raisins a week 😵‍💫😬

FlappingMadly · 05/09/2024 10:19

@WitchyBits that’s fantastic!
I’ll have my 3rd 2.5 tomorrow and have only lost 2kg, but on the other hand no constipation.

lookathatbookcase · 05/09/2024 10:26

First truly terrible side effect of MJ....

....have just realised that the very nice expensive coat I bought last year is now feeling very loose!

I took an aloe Vera colon cleanse tablet last night and it sorted me out!

Take 2 - 4 senna tablets at night.

I've ordered a 5mg next, though I intend to try 3.75 and see if I can get away with that for a bit. I switched from zava to medexpress as the voucher made it so much cheaper and they seem to be cheapest long term. Switching hasn't been too bad so far - I registered on Monday and it was apparently dispensed today, so I'm hoping they dispatch it ok. I had to upload proof of prescription because I wasn't starting at 2.5. My photo of the prescription label was apparently too blurry, so I uploaded my invoice. They were pretty quick about everything.

I was going to wait a week to order as next week I plan to use my bonus dose and I didn't want anything arriving before my daughter goes back to uni this weekend as I haven't mentioned it yet. Felt too anxious to wait, though, as I know some have had delays. However, I think if I carefully stash it behind a cauliflower in the fridge she'll never find it!

MargoLivebetter · 05/09/2024 10:48

Lol @weaseleyes mine lurks under some courgettes! It remains completely unnoticed.

MissFancyDay · 05/09/2024 10:58

Mine is in a Jus-rol pastry box in the salad drawer (tip from the main thread)

I'm planning on telling Dh this week though, it's starting to make me feel uncomfortable keeping it quiet. He's beginning to notice that I'm leaving food on my plate, which has NEVER happened before in all the 30 years he has known me.

I don't want him to think I'm ill, I just wanted a bit of time to assess it myself to see how it works. I'm happy and fully intend to be in it for the long haul.

Fivefoottwoooo · 05/09/2024 11:25

I'll be due my second dose of 2.5mg on Friday evening but I've noticed today my appetite retuning which scares me a bit. I guess it's only one dose I've had but want sure if this was normal Confused

FlappingMadly · 05/09/2024 11:29

It’s strange that at the end of week I feel symptoms more strongly. I feel very queasy. Could I be synthesising the drug differently?

I don't think so.
I've always found that side effects and suppression vary widely at all times.

FlappingMadly · 05/09/2024 11:35

Yes I’m sure you’re right @TheShellBeach

GoodLuckBabe · 05/09/2024 11:39

I took my first 5mg jab on Sunday morning after 5x 2.5mg. The nausea has been strong! Quite severe for the first 48 hours but manageable since and definitely waning now on Thursday. Not sure whether to try a 3.75mg next as would quite like to have a bit less nausea. Though maybe as it won’t be my first 5mg dose it won’t be as bad?

GoodLuckBabe · 05/09/2024 11:40

Could also try some cyclizine I guess, too.

MabelSpan · 05/09/2024 11:44

@GoodLuckBabe Sorry you have had a bad time with nausea on your first 5mg. Did you have any side effects on 2.5mg?

AnnieMcFanny · 05/09/2024 12:09

Ye Gods. So I went to do the 4th dose of my 2.5 and my pen was broken. The plunger wouldn’t plunge and I’ve no idea why. I was at a loss what to do so I went and bought an insulin pen even though I am not comfortable with injections at all but I knew I had to get this 4th dose into me. Somehow, without any trying at all I was able to withdraw up to 100 on the syringe which I’m assuming meant a dose of .6 plus .4 =1.0.

This really confuses me because I thought I had to break my pen to get the extra dose but I know I never did that deliberately and I’m assuming that someone I accidentally damaged the pen on my last does.

Anyway, by now I was shaking but I decided - in for a penny in for a pound and I primed the syringe before injecting the 90 that was left which I think is .9 and one and a half doses of 2.5. It was painless. I didn’t even find it creepy but an hour later I’m still a bit shaky because I found the courage to do it. It really was a big deal for me.

Im. looking forward to seeing how I get on this week as im not really ready to go up to 5 yet. But maybe I just did 😂

Pinkjenny · 05/09/2024 12:16

I'm absolutely dreading 5mg now! In more positive news, I've just done a workout on my Peloton for the first time in about six months!

eeeeeeeee · 05/09/2024 12:18

I love that we’re all going through the ups and downs of this together. It’s really nice to have a group of people who understand you.

So far 5mg has been surprisingly unremarkable. I definitely have appetite suppression - I just had a costa, but could only manage a third of the drink.

If I’m being honest, my appetite suppression over the last week has been really strong and I’m worried about whether I have taken in enough nutrients. I went to the high street this morning (has all the usual cafes, some nice restaurants alongside all the major grocery retailers) and there wasn’t a single item of food that interested me.

lookathatbookcase · 05/09/2024 12:43

Very happy to be here too. I haven't told anyone in my life that I'm doing this, apart from some friends based in a different country so very far away. Will be ascribing any weight loss to being more measured about my eating, and doing more exercise (which is technically true, but...)

On making up nutrients - a bit grim but I've found having a bottle of Huel or Huel Black in the fridge is good for those days; no matter how little appetite I have, I can generally drink a bottle of the vanilla flavour with lots of ice.

lmmj15 · 05/09/2024 13:17

Hi everyone 👋🏼

Just a quick question…how much exercise are you typically doing per week?

Thanks ☺️

Thanks, i did feel a bit queasy on 2.5mg, mainly in the morning. And a bit of constipation.
I don’t feel I should complain too much as haven’t actually been sick or had tummy problems, so if I’d gone and bought some anti-sickness pills it would have been fine. I have just eaten a whole sandwich and crisps though, so I think the suppression is lessening along with the nausea! Probably not a bad think as my calories were less than 1000 on Sunday/Monday which isn’t really in my game plan. Trying to eat relatively healthily/normally but smaller portions.

Azuresky68 · 05/09/2024 13:31

On holiday abroad for 2 weeks in a self catering apartment. Took my second 2.5 dose the day after we arrived. Not been hungry at all really. I have been trying to track my eating and drinking with My Fitness Pal and noticed that yoghurt I had for breakfast with one weetabix and 2 hard Boiled eggs for lunch is way too carby and not enough protein. I usually hit a decent protein rate at home. Not getting weighed until I get back from holiday. Enjoying laid back life in warm weather..the strange bit is being on holiday without the focus and enjoyment of food and alcohol 🍸Any advice on my anxiety about this working would be welcome!

@eeeeeeeeee I completely understand this. If I am not careful I think that my eating could become quite disordered and unhealthy.

Funnily enough I also went to a Costa earlier this week and had a tuna and cheese panini. It tasted rubbish (let's face it, it wasn't a good choice) and I felt really sick after. So for me there's a real need to ensure that the food that I am eating is as nutritious as possible.

MidLifeResurgence74 · 05/09/2024 13:54

I’ve definitely learned over the past four weeks that I must eat - suppression being so strong that it’s been hard to choose anything - protein-rich and little and often. Don’t eat too late - anything past 6pm lies very heavily in my stomach even if it’s small. This means that socialising is going to be extremely difficult.

Sorry did you inject 1.9ml in total? If so that's a massive increase compared to your scheduled dose.

0.6ml is one dose.

I think you should check what the patient information leaflet says about over dosing and consider getting some medical advice.

Please don't take more than your scheduled dose as you could make yourself ill.

Most people using their left over wait until week 5 when they are scheduled to move up a dose and take an amount between their old dose and the new dose.

Please be careful
