As long as you put scales in same place and wear same clothes /similar in style /weight and weigh at same time / then you will be ok

I like @Choux have scales on bathroom floor as they say not carpet and always make sure scales are on tile line

Doesn't everyone weigh themselves naked???

I weigh myself a lot and have found that my lowest weight of the day is late morning before I start eating - am not a weekday breakfast eater, I just drink coffee.

I weigh myself naked first thing (post wee) and then shower and dress and weigh myself again. That way I know the weight of my clothes, watch etc. Then on the days I work from home I try to delay breakfast and drink and wee a lot. By around 11 I can be over a pound lighter than my first weigh in of the day. Doing this sounds obsessive but it actually helps me to know that any gain of a pound or two is due to salt and carb water retention and will soon disappear so I stress less about gains.

Today I'm trying to flush myself out to get under 11 stone so will weigh every time I wee. I ate some carbs yesterday so am not sure it will happen. Earlier I was 11st 0.6lbs.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/09/2024 11:12

I weigh after a wee in the morning in my nightie /pjs and wearing a watch

Never weighed naked

If I was going to sw/doctor I would be wearing clothes so I just make sure wear similar each Fri am

Definitely weigh naked too @Choux ! I didn't know that people did anything else up until now, unless you were at the GP surgery and they forced you to get on their scales. Even then I'm scrabbling to take off my shoes, jumper etc! 😂

At home, it is always, the same scales, same place, roughly the same time of day and in the nude.

MabelSpan · 02/09/2024 11:27

Another naked weigher here! I weigh about the same time each morning but not immediately after my morning wee. I usually wait for half an hour or so. At the moment I weigh twice a week which is bugging me, I have always weighed myself on a Monday but started mj on a Wednesday, so now I have two offical weigh days. As time goes on I may wind my mj back to a Monday as this is driving me nuts!

@MargoLivebetter I havent had hypnosis for weight loss, but I had it for smoking and I never smoked again, that was about thirty years ago. If I could find hypnotist that I thought was a good fit for me I would consider giving it a try.

weaseleyes · 02/09/2024 11:31

Dear god, the scales are depressing enough without struggling to read the weight over my unconstrained naked stomach! I go for weighing first thing after my morning wee, at which point I'm usually wearing pants, a t-shirt and my watch. That way I'm consistent. It's always a bit annoying if my official weigh-in weight is more than one I get the day before or after, but I just see it as the luck of the draw and it evens itself out eventually.

Splcam · 02/09/2024 12:20

Started on 2.5mg yesterday. Have a mountain of fat to climb.

Starting weight (as of last Tuesday when I was finalising the order with the prescriber) is 115kg.

I need to lose about half of my body weight to get anywhere near the (upper end) of my BMI.

If I can get near 80kg (so 35kg loss) as a starting point I will be ecstatic.

Always been overweight and found it hard to lose and easy to gain weight. Like many women though, this went into overdrive since my mid 40s when I became perimenopausal. And stressy job so too many liquid calories on top of that.

Bit nervous with injecting but am so fat I barely felt the needle go in. Also worried about side effects but not too many so far. Avoiding wine, eating less to help it along. I exercise 4 or 5 times a week anyway so also maintaining that.

Crossing fingers this works because every time I look in a full length mirror I feel absolutely disgusted at how big I am.

trulybee · 02/09/2024 12:42

I moved up to 5mg on Thursday evening. Saturday night got out of the bath and was so cold my teeth were chattering. Then around 3am woke up with my pyjamas wet with sweat. Had the same again last night. I looked online and there are quite a few people that have commented on extremes of temperature. Apparently it can be from low blood sugar which manifests itself as sweating at around 3am in the morning. I only ate around 1000 calories Saturday and Sunday which at 5ft 10 is probably far too low. I don't aim for this but usually make up for it later in the week as find 1400 is right for me.
I've just bought some glucose tablets and going to have one before bed. Never experienced that in my life! I

TheShellBeach · 02/09/2024 12:51

Good luck @Splcam!
This stuff really works.

Week 2 complete and first day of week 3 now. It is working well for me so far. I've lost 9lbs in total, 7 in week one and 2lb in week two. If I can lose 1-2lb per week from now on, I will be very happy.

I am calorie counting and protein gram counting. I'm working on the basis that whilst Mounjaro helps with weight loss, it doesn't actually cause the weight loss. I have to do that for myself and if I want to keep it off, then I need to know roughly where the intake levels are going to be for me to do that. I have so little appetite with these jabs, that this is proving easy at the moment.

I'm thinking of remaining on the 2.5 dose, as the suppression has been so intense for me. However, I know that there are still two weeks to go on this dose, so that may yet change.

I still cannot get over the absence of food noise. This is what it must be like all the time for naturally slim people. I'm wondering if I come off and struggle with all the food chatter again, if I could get hypnosis for it. Has anyone ever tried that?

Your appetite can change over the next 2 weeks - I felt the same as you with a suppressed appetite on 2.5mg for the first 2 weeks, but really struggled on week 3 as my appetite was back in full force. I don’t want that to happen again.

I’m on week 4 now and I’m already anticipating how my appetite will be back with a vengeance over the next few days so ordered 5mg for my 2nd pen.

personally I just want to get this course of treatment over and done with so will titrate up as recommended. I’m not sure why people stay on lower doses for longer. I remember watching some random on TikTok advocating that approach but didn’t think it was that widespread.

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 13:08

While on Mounjaro you can't totally ignore BMI as that is what is used by suppliers to assess if you can still buy pens. So to avoid being cut off before you are ready you have to work out what your supplier is going to do when you declare yourself at 25 BMI and assess if you want to go with that or switch suppliers.

My supplier doesn’t ask for my BMI. They ask for my height and weight and work it out for themselves.

weaseleyes · 02/09/2024 13:09

I don't know that higher doses automatically speed up weight loss, @eeeeeeeee. It's more that some people need the higher doses to achieve weight loss and others have the same result on lower doses so there's not much value in increasing

cosylife · 02/09/2024 13:10

Ooo found the new(ish) thread!

Had my 3rd dose of 2.5mg on sat night. In the middle of a heavy period on Sat so chuffed to have lost another 1lbs - 13lbs in total!

So far side effects are metallic taste in my mouth (which goes away if I guzzle water) and constipation. Stocked up on more fybogel and senakot tablets this morning to help out.

Csncelled my Voy subscription and ordered my 5mf pen through Med express. Not sent my proof of prescription over yet as I can’t find where to do this but had an email to say they’re running at a 2-4 day delay.

doodles55 · 02/09/2024 13:12

Well , I had 3rd jab yesterday, and seriously, not a single change.

appetite suppression - No
side effects-No
Not a single thing, and yes I’m injecting correctly
I’ve contacted boy regarding the above, and needless to say no response
very fast re sharps bin , but no support re my situation , hey Ho ??!

TheShellBeach · 02/09/2024 13:16

My appetite has been up and down all the time, no matter what dose of MJ I'm on.

I think that's normal. The side-effects have been minimal, but I deal with them immediately, before they get out of hand.

I am now on 10mg. I think I'll very likely stay on it. I've lost 32lb in 11 weeks, since starting on MJ.

And my total loss since January, with my own efforts (which stalled, as usual) and MJ, has been 4st 8lb.

I am looking forward to a slim me at last. The quantity of clothes which have ended up in the charity shop is phenomenal.

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 13:18

weaseleyes · 02/09/2024 09:48

I'd be more likely to consider it if I were 20 years younger, but now I tend to think the more medical interventions I can avoid the better! I was reluctant to take MJ because it felt like an unnecessary intervention to solve a problem I should be able to tackle myself. But then I looked hard at the fact that I had clearly failed to tackle it myself, and if it kept me fitter and away from needing treatment for all sorts of horrible conditions for as long as possible, then that was a good deal.

I understand everything you’ve said and my thoughts are also like yours. Even my children have asked me - more surgery mum? They’d much rather I didn’t.

I had huge surgery for cancer 4 years ago where I was effectively filleted like a fish and everything I could live without was removed. My children have said it’s enough to last anyone for a lifetime and I do agree with them but I’m not ruling tummy surgery based on that previous surgery. I’ve also recently had a new knee also. But I'm
not ruling out my tummy op to take care of what’s going to be a lot of loose skin from weight loss and my previous surgery.

I was referring to the manufacturer recommended treatment plan ie to titrate and the 4-week dosing schedule.

Plus, there was a study that showed participants lost more weight on higher doses too https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2206038

It’s through medical research that the titrate dosing schedule was recommended

weaseleyes · 02/09/2024 13:22

That's understandable, @AnnieMcFanny, and I'm sorry to hear you've had to go through such rotten surgery already. I guess you can just see how you feel when you're at your target weight. Any loose skin might feel an irrelevance or it might be that it's spoiling your sense of being slim again and it feels worth tackling.

That's true.
Some people stay on 2.5mg because it works so well on them. We're all different.

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 13:23

Doesn't everyone weigh themselves naked???

I do. In front of a huge full length mirror. I’m hard core🤣

What if there’s an issue when I get to a BMI of 25? I’ll cross that bridge if/when I come to it. It’s a long time away and I’m not worried about it.

cosylife · 02/09/2024 13:27

I’m seriously considering a breast uplift. Breastfed two children and they feel saggier and ‘empty’ lately. I’m wondering whether the weight has all been taken from my boobs! It’s a big op though isn’t it so something I’ll need to seriously consider.

For those not experiencing any food suppression, I’ve read that 2.5mg only works for a small % of people and isn’t actually intended for weight loss or suppression, just to get your body used to it until you double up to 5mg.

Id feel really frustrated if I didn’t feel any different though so understand why you feel that way.

My goal weight is 11 stone 12lbs. I just can’t imagine being any smaller and still enjoying the odd wine or portion of fries 😂

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 13:28

these are fabulous and I like wearing them
even now. They made all the difference to an outfit I wore to one of my children’s wedding. If I don’t have the surgery I will be in these everyday and I’m ok with that as well.

My 5mg has arrived and cold packs melted and I contacted med express and this is their reply

I've tried calling them but no answer and been 39mins so far ffs

Other companies seem to replace but new express is saying it's fine

It's a lot of money to lose if 5 does work properly

My food noise hasn't completely stopped. I'm hungry when it comes to meal times, but I can only eat a third to a half of what I'm used to.

Choux · 02/09/2024 13:53

@eeeeeeeee it's easy to say now you will keep titrating upwards but few people have side effects at 2.5mg. When you hit 5mg, 7.5mg etc you might find you aren't able to go any higher but that shouldn't matter as the max dose you can tolerate should be giving you weight loss of 1-2lbs a week with no or manageable side effects. Plus lower dose pens are cheaper. If you lose weight too fast you increase the risk of muscle loss, hair loss, saggy skin etc.

Speaking of saggy skin I have lost 34lbs in 6 months so not a super fast loss at all. Today I did a yoga class in shorts and one pose involved my leg being at 45 degrees to the floor and my head near the floor looking at my inner thigh. Dear god the saggy wrinkly skin I saw down there with my leg at that angle!!!

Standing upright there is no wrinkling at all. I'm 54 so elasticity is probably much less than if I was younger but am hoping it improves over time rather than starts being noticeable when I am standing up as I lose more weight.

eeeeeeeee · 02/09/2024 14:01

@Choux I am worried about loose skin in general actually, is there a way we can prevent this from happening? I think I’d rather have the loose skin than excess weight though, if I had to choose. I reckon I’ll get stretch marks for sure.

@cosylife I’m considering a breast uplift too. When I was slim, they were small but a normal shape. Since gaining weight, they’re still small but sagging and asymmetrical now. It’s like they are weighed down. I’m hoping they look better with weight loss but if not, I am researching surgery. I can deal with them being small but not the current shape!
