I didn't feel much effect from the second injection of 2.5 and nothing from the third one. I took my 4th yesterday and appetite suppression is high. I'm also a bit constipated too so that probably doesn't make me want to eat. Lunch is fybogel and pomegranate seeds.

AuntieDote · 02/09/2024 14:42

I'm increasingly finding that appetite/ food noise suppression is not linear nor particularly related to when I last injected for me.

It's never been as strong as in the first week again definitely. Week 2 I initially panicked that it had gone away, but actually there was still a good level of suppression just not as intense. At various points over the last 2 weeks I've had quite strong suppression, a bit, and virtually none. I posted the other day that I'd changed my mind and decided to go up to 5mg as I felt as hungry and food obsessed as I did before I'd ever even heard of mounjaro, now today s (and I'm due to jab again tomorrow!) I basically forgot/ didn't think about eating till 1pm, forced a small lunch down and feel absolutely stuffed again.

For me, I wanted to stay on the lower doses for as long as they worked even a little bit, even if I had to use a fair bit of willpower too, because once I stop taking mj it'll be all willpower so I need to get use to it. However I have decided to go up now and definitely understand the logic in taking the drug as it's prescribed/ licenced/ recommended - the messing about with dosing schedules, using bonus doses etc makes me nervous! I'm still not sure whether I'll do anything with my 'bonus dose' or just go straight up to the next pen. I'm surprised how okay mumsnet is with discussing this actually - the reddit forums and fb groups I've found all automatically delete any discussion that could be seen to promote using the drug/ pens in any way other than how the manufacturer/ your prescriber recommends. On the other hand, I totally agree it's so expensive and you don't want to waste any - like I say I've not decided either way yet.

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 14:46

My 5mg has arrived and cold packs melted and I contacted med express and this is their reply

My pens are sent to me in the Middle East from London. My supplier uses DHL cold service and they’re in ice packs then wrapped up really snuggly in the kind of fabric you lag your loft with. I think there’s also bubble wrap for good measure. Of course the ice packs are defrosted when they get here but they’re still very cold but the liquid is crystal clear and hasn’t killed me yet 😜😂

I'm surprised how okay mumsnet is with discussing this actually.

I think you raise a very good point and it’s only this morning I abandoned a post because I couldn’t find a way to bring up the subject of what happens when you sense a poster shouldn’t have been prescribed a weight loss drug. Also what happens when people who really shouldn’t be on it hand out advice for eg. It just seems to me that the prescribing system can be beaten and perhaps it’s not thorough enough in the first place. Then there’s the fact that we could say whatever we want in those threads and there’s no one saying steady on, are you a qualified medic?

I know what you mean. I also asked on the last thread about what’s stopping people getting multiple pens from different suppliers - I know in theory it would be on your medical records but it doesn’t appear to be on mine. I agreed to Voy contacting my GP but when I saw her recently she had no idea and wasn’t on my records anywhere. And thinking about it logically, I’m not sure whether due to GDPR/ data security any of these prescribers would be able to see your medical records anyway. My sister was saying today that she wishes she could get it, but her bmi is in the healthy range (albeit right at the top end). She doesn’t want to lose weight but finds it a constant battle to maintain with the food noise/ cravings she has going on, and also thinks it could help here with cutting down alcohol intake. So there would be nothing to stop her going to a different supplier and using my details/ photos assuming I’d allow that or she’d want to (I wouldn’t/ she doesn’t but it’s just an example!) We’ve already seen on the threads people have ordered more than one pen in a month from different suppliers - albeit with the intention of saving one but there’s a huge potential for misuse.

I think all it would take would be one incident where someone is seriously harmed and they link that to misusing the drug somehow and suddenly the rules change and it’s much harder for anyone to get the drug. There’s already some question marks over whether the current model of online prescribing via questionnaire is going to be allowed to continue - see here for example

https://www.chemistanddruggist.co.uk/CD138159/Wegovy-online-prescription-warning---pharmacists-threatened-by-GPhC-action

I know I’m rambling really - and people will make the decisions that they feel are right for them, whether that includes bonus doses or microdosing or whatever suits them best. I’ve not ruled out using bonus doses myself yet. I do think it’s really important to remember that this is powerful medication which is only currently licensed for use in specific circumstances (hence Voy getting panicky about prescribing when there’s a history of binge eating for example) and on the given schedule though.

Wegovy online prescription warning - pharmacists threatened by GPhC action

The pharmacists’ union has alerted its members over prescribing Wegovy, warning them that they face possible regulatory action if they prescribe GLP-1RA weight loss drugs online using newly released guidance.

You were perfectly happy to tell me I shouldn't have been prescribed it 🤷🏼‍♀️

At the end of the day, everyone on here is presumably an adult. Adults have the right to make their own medical choices and if they end up making themselves sick, that's their own choice

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 16:24

You were perfectly happy to tell me I shouldn't have been prescribed it 🤷🏼‍♀️

not everything is about you.

But yes I did suggest you perhaps shouldn’t have been prescribed the drug and the very next day you posted in a panic about not losing weight that week and how you were going to go to the Drs. But what you omitted to say was that in the previous two weeks you’d lost 14 or so pounds.

All it did was reinforce my belief that the original company you tried to get the medication from was right not to go on prescribing it.

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 16:35

Sorry - just to add you then did beat the prescribing system because you were able to then get the drug somewhere else - after you’d probably learned how to answer their questions and not raise the red flags the previous company picked up on.

Edited

I never said I was going to the doctors. At the end of the day, if the prescribing pharmacy are fine with it then that's that. Nobody else can comment on it, if someone plays with fire and gets sick then that's on them, not the drug and not MN.

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 16:42

I’m pretty sure you did. I think it was when you mentioned the things you wanted checked out. But my apologies if I’m wrong. It could have been another poster suggesting what you should have checked before they knew about the 14 or so pounds lost in the previous two weeks.

Im not going to change my belief that you’re a poster to be concerned about and the first company were right not to go on prescribing the drug to you.

Thats fine but by the same token perhaps any advice you offer could be taken with a pinch of salt given how you’ve explained your outlook above.

Thank you for raising this, I am also surprised at how openly using the pens not in a way exactly as prescribed is discussed. It is interesting if, as you say, it is not allowed on Reddit and Facebook.

I do actually think that it is fine to discuss this because we are real people, we should be allowed to discuss what we are actually doing, and I love Mumsnet for allowing these types of discussions.

However I am beginning to wonder whether my views on using the bonus dose etc have been skewed by exclusively reading Mumsnet. I guess I should just read more widely and make an informed decision.

Frankly it's none of your business to be concerned about me - I don't think anyone reaches 26 stone without overeating! It doesn't mean I have an eating disorder.

Im not concerned about you in the real sense. My concern is more for the people you’ll meet along the way here and try to influence whilst not really being in the place to do so in a good way.

And if I recall - the initial company felt you had a binge eating disorder given how often you binged. Binging and overeating are two different things entirely.

The initial company took my comment about overeating and then pushed me to say I binge ate 3+ times a week. Which I do not.

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 17:01

I don’t like getting it wrong and upsetting people by making a mistake. So I checked and this is the post you made regarding going to the Drs

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 30/08/2024 07:14
Feeling hopeless today.

A whole 0.2lbs lost this week. That's it. I'm so hungry my stomach hurts and I feel sick, but I'm sticking to my calories and max eating 1400 a day- that's a deficit of nearly 1200 a day given my weight. But I'm still not getting anywhere? Is it time to book a doctor's appointment and get bloods done to see if there's something else going on because I just don't understand this

AnnieMcFanny · 02/09/2024 17:02

My point is that you then had people replying to you/advising you about your weight loss without telling them you had lost 14 pounds or so in the previous 2 weeks.

It was alarming and I do believe that you have a problem and the first company recognised that you did. But I’m saying no more. It’s up to MN how they deal with people who perhaps aren’t in the frame of mind to be advising or encouraging others who are using something like Munjaro.

I agree

Lying about weight

One stone or so to lose

That doesn't need mounjaro

Sadly porky people like us all on thread need it

Interested in any 5mg stories of how it’s bedding in?

trulybee · 02/09/2024 17:41

@Wingingit11
I injected the 5mg on Friday and regret it. I felt ok on 2.5mg by week four and am happy for it to be slow and steady and not completely suppress my appetite since injecting 5mg my sleep is terrible, no appetite and feel really sweaty at night. I feel it could be from low blood sugar. I've messaged medexpress about this and would be happy to use the clicks on my 5mg pen for 2.5mg if they recommend and then buy 2.5 moving forward/ My starting BMi was 30.5 and I am wondering if this is why my body doesn't like higher doses as not as much to lose (in comparison). Really disappointed as I was doing well BUT lots of people do just fine so don't let me out you off.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/09/2024 17:43

Yah. After a phone call and I said how hot my are has been over weekend 26* they have agreed to send me a new 5mg

Praise for med express

@trulybee thanks,.. sorry to hear 5 has been meh. My bonus dose was a bit over 3 and wiped me out for two days feeling hungover so unsure if go to 3.75 but then I wondered if the titration skews how mj is meant to work, though I know a lot of people are doing it !

trulybee · 02/09/2024 17:56

Yes, I mulled over for a while whether to up to 5mg. I think it might be something I can do one day but I think for me, my body wants me stay on 2.5mg for a while.i think the indicator to move up for me will be no side effects, no suppression, no weight loss. I'm a bit gutted as I was looking forward to some good losses on 5mg
