2nd weigh in today. Very pleased with 6lbs off :) I've been very lucky with no side effects except a bit of heartburn one night this week. Good luck to all the Friday weighers!

Feeling hopeless today.

A whole 0.2lbs lost this week. That's it. I'm so hungry my stomach hurts and I feel sick, but I'm sticking to my calories and max eating 1400 a day- that's a deficit of nearly 1200 a day given my weight. But I'm still not getting anywhere? Is it time to book a doctor's appointment and get bloods done to see if there's something else going on because I just don't understand this

How are you calculating that you should be in a 1,200 calorie a day deficit? What is your BMR and how active are you? Do you have a fitness watch measuring your activity?

I have scales which tell me my BMR and it's currently about 1,350 a day. I just used this page and it gave me a very similar calc.

www.diabetes.co.uk/bmr-calculator.html

What does this page say your BMR is?

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 30/08/2024 08:05

@Choux my BMR is apparently 2000 a day but when i was eating that (before mounjaro) I wasn't losing weight so I don't see how that can be true? It's all just starting to piss me off because surely as someone who's very overweight eating less is a good thing?

weaseleyes · 30/08/2024 08:14

Isn’t your BMR what you eat to maintain not lose weight? So you’d be in a 600 calorie deficit? I get it’s frustrating, but you’ve not been doing it for very long and have had some good losses. To have had a lesser loss one week and a day of feeling hungry doesn’t sound like it’s not working, just that it’s one of those tough days.

I have no idea because every calculator seems to say different things - at one time I was told I could eat 2600 a day and still lose weight! It's just frustrating that the maths and science says - eat X amount and you'll lose X amount then in reality it doesn't happen like that. I know it's not the end of the world and I'm trying not to catastrophise it it it's frustrating when it costs so much money

That happen to anyone ? What do I do

I've repeated step 13 but nothing

Have emailed med express with pics

@WitchDancer I ordered my 5mg pen from MedExpress, had to fill out the questionnaire again and then they put a hold on my order and emailed me saying I had lost too much weight and they wanted to review me. Arghhh. It's weight loss medication. They still haven't made my prescription and my jab is due on Monday. So irritated.

Oh no! I hope you get it sorted soon Flowers

Did you prime the pen before you injected? I'm afraid that's my only suggestion....

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 08:29

Yes. Always prime

I'm gonna have to try force. Usually it pushes in /releases easily

weaseleyes · 30/08/2024 08:31

You could extract the dose like people recommend for the bonus?

I think you lost 10 or 12 pounds last week. So maybe that’s it for a few weeks. The amount you’ve lost this week could be mother natures way of evening it all out.

Choux · 30/08/2024 08:37

@Blondeshavemorefun so the part you twist won't twist at all? Or you twisted a bit to prime but then couldn't push it in?

I recall someone having a needle that wasn't on straight so was not letting liquid flow through. Can you take the needle off and then put it back on again carefully to see if that solves the won't prime issue.

Choux · 30/08/2024 08:41

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease did you have a big loss previously like @AnnieMcFanny says?

It could be your menstrual cycle, constipation, a bit of water retention from salty food or a combo meaning you haven't lost weight this week. Very few of us lose every single week. It is not a linear journey.

First two weeks 14.4lbs went so it may be that I guess, it's just discouraging to see the scales not moving despite doing everything "right"

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 08:44

Tina how much have you lost. Seems weird they said no

@weaseleyes I don't have any syringes

@Choux it primed and went to 1 no problem

But when in my skin and pushing the dial didn't twist in and go to 0

MelainesLaugh · 30/08/2024 08:45

Took Jab 2 last night, admittedly a day late but that couldn’t be helped.

This morning I am starving. It’s all I can think about

poppym12 · 30/08/2024 08:52

My hunger is definitely creeping back up. First injection was 11 Aug so the fourth will be on Sunday evening.

I've lost about 11lb so far but some days it's taking a hell of a lot of willpower and resistance which I suppose is to be expected as the weeks go by until I'm on a bigger dose. It is reminding me how to eat properly though. The foods I am choosing are more nutritious and my portions are way smaller.

I never used to eat 3 meals a day as could never face breakfast but this last week I've been eating little and often rather than a big evening meal. This seems to keep the hunger more at bay.

I eat over 1000 cal per day even when I don't feel like eating but average around 1200 as I am fearful of loose skin and hair loss (post menopausal). I am unable to do much in the way of exercise due to disability so I can't rely on being active to help weight loss, it has to be about what I shove in my mouth.

I'm seeing this as a tool to help me regulate my eating patterns and nutrition rather than something that basically prevents me from eating.

Obviously I'd love to have massive losses but I'm happy with 11lb in 3 weeks and I keep reminding myself that it's not a quick fix. I'm determined to be healthier.

Sorry for the essay. Just a brain dump for me really.

AnnieMcFanny · 30/08/2024 08:58

I enjoyed what you call your essay and I agree that these early days are a good way to learn how to deal with hunger pangs and old habits. I feel very powerful when I tell myself that hunger is normal and we don’t have to feed it every time we experience it.

Thank you. Over 7lb was during the first week so I know that's not a genuine weight loss, it's lots of water because I have over 4 stones to lose.

Princessandthepie · 30/08/2024 09:09

I've finally broken the 1 stone barrier!!

SW 15 stones 8lbs
CW 14 stones 7lbs
15lbs off in total

🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease I think you need to just keep going, you can't expect to lose so much weight every week. You've already lost over 1 stone and your body needs to adjust before you lose more.

Its taken me 4 weeks to lose a stone and for 1 week I lost nothing, in fact I gained a pound.

Give yourself time, this isn't a race.

FlappingMadly · 30/08/2024 09:14

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease I can only echo what others have said. Your body needs nourishment. Be kind to yourself. Starvation will only hijack your weight loss. Up your calories and avoid simple carbs as much as possible. You are doing great.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2024 09:14

Well done @Princessandthepie

Right. Have managed dose. I really pushed knob down and is started to turn. Finally counted back to 0 and level has changed so have one dose left and obv the extra freebie

lookathatbookcase · 30/08/2024 09:15

@Princessandthepie congrats! I'm over my first stone boundary line which feels massive:

SW: 15' 8
CW: 14' 12

and this is after 4 weeks, so very happy with this. such a long way still to go, but feel like I'm getting into the rhythm of what I'm doing.

FlappingMadly · 30/08/2024 09:16

That’s fab @Princessandthepie & @lookathatbookcase !

TheShellBeach · 30/08/2024 09:26

I found that when the pen refused to give me a dose, I had to put a different needle on it.
Then it worked fine.

I was just about to get an insulin syringe out and draw it up, but that wasn't necessary in the end.
