This is encouraging.

Because my husband just ate a pizza and I very much wanted it.

Took my jab yesterday morning so not sure if I count today as day 2 or 1.

I’d count today as day 2. Yeah there were things I fancied on Sunday (had a day down the beach) but I used will power for that. Today I had a really busy day and usually (due to a blood sugar dive) get hangry and grab anything I can to stop me being hungry. This usually means crisps and carbs but I waited until I could get to Tescos and got myself the healthiest meal deal I could. I feel the changes in habits already.

I’ll be completely honest that I was apprehensive and almost scared to hear that people on MJ would have these complete overhauls in habits. Then I remembered a book I read called ‘Atomic Habits’. It says that our brains are wired to make us feel fear when we experience or plan for change because the brain thinks, ‘we’re alive so far on your current habit so just keep it up, this new change in habit could be dangerous’.

Our brains are wired to think, ‘keep doing what you’re doing’. Once I remember that, it helps me push through the fear but also if I crave/fancy anything.

We’re both really early in our journey too - I’ve been watching TikToks on MJ and sooo many people don’t see the affects until 5mg and have minimal side effects too.

Wingingit11 · 20/08/2024 19:10

@Blondeshavemorefun I felt hit by a bus the day after first jab like that but been completely fine after then!

Has anyone used chemist 4 u? They show price of 130 online. If u have do u get all the needles etc. I know that may sound strange but on the page it has a list of items u need so wasn't sure if they were extra to buy

Yes I ordered from there and arrived quickly and with everything needed (needles/wipes)

Just did my first dose. Was going to wait until tomorrow as it was my childs birthday today but didn't really eat badly so went for it when we got home.

Fingers crossed I wake up a new woman 😂😂

BrightGreenCrow · 20/08/2024 20:00

Just had notification my first pen is arriving tomorrow! Excited and nervous to be joining you all!
Anyone else starting tomorrow too?
😊

I keep seeing people having protein shakes on the food thread on mj

Is it a shake like slim fast but obv high protein and replaces a meal

Any one on here use them

Is is powder and use water /milk and shake /mix

lookathatbookcase · 20/08/2024 20:11

@Blondeshavemorefun There are lots of different types. Some you can make from scratch, some are pre-made (eg. UFIt, Pro Milk), some you make up from powder and mix with water or milk. You can use them how you want, either as a snack or to replace a meal. Lots of people prefer clear whey (generally powder + water) as it tastes more like squash rather than a thick milkshale and is easier to drink.

The main aim though is to use them to keep your protein levels up - very important on a rapid weight loss diet to prevent muscle wastage.

Coming up to six months, this is my second month on 15mg. I’ve occasionally had side effects, the main one for me is fatigue and nausea if I eat too much in on go. Started at 12.5st now at 8.5st, target is 8st (I’m short) very happy with it. Will stay on it forever if I have to as it’s totally worth it for me

Will you try seeing how you get on without it at your target weight and then go back on if you feel you need to? I must admit I'm already anxious about how I'll manage coming off it when I've only been on it 5 days!

AnnieMcFanny · 20/08/2024 20:17

I had my first dose last Thursday and it started working within a couple of hours. It’s been great. No side effects. It’s been very doable but these last few hours have been difficult - I’m hungry. It’s a genuine hunger. I’m not just in the mood of something. I’m hungry and I’m very close to going along to the little upstairs pantry I have and having a weetabix before trying to get to sleep. It’s very late where I am.

Thanks, I basically rarely eat or think about eating so I don’t feel like a deserve much credit. I think something to remember for people earlier in the journey is- it feels incredibly gradual while it’s happening, it often feels like it’s not really working, but it’s likely to be the most stable consistent weight loss of your life. The other thing to remember is, weight loss is hard on the body even if you don’t lift a finger, your body “likes” it in the long term but hates it in the short term.

And for anyone who is interested I haven’t changed my level of activity at all, that’s the next project- getting strong- hopefully. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend my approach, but it’s worked for me not to have to over think food for the first time in my life, I have time to focus on other things now.

No I don’t think I’ll do that. One thing this experience has taught me, after a life time of diets, is that it’s not me, it’s not my attitude to food, it’s not my self discipline, or choosing the wrong foods, or not eating mindfully enough. It’s not emotional eating, it’s not boredom eating. It was all because I was hungry when my body didn’t need me to be, I’m not hungry now because I’m on MJ, and it’s great so I’m going to stay on it as long as it’s healthy and safe to do so. I’ll be blunt I think people planning to do this short term are going to change their mind once the come to the finish line. Then I might change my mind in another few years- who knows

Potterson13 · 20/08/2024 20:40

Phew found you all. Can't believe we're on our 2nd thread. Lovely to see everyone's journeys and welcome to the new starters!

Day 3 of week 3 for me. I'm feeling much better this week than last. Had a very heavy period last week which knocked me for six on top of somehow injuring my back which didn't help matters. I haven't been to the gym because of my back but going for a PT session tomorrow to hopefully ease myself back in.

I'm still really feeling the food suppression, more so this week I think. In the first two weeks I was feeling "different" when I was getting ready for food. Not so much hungry but just knew my body needed some sort of sustenance. This week I've had absolutely nothing and no desire to eat anything at all which I'm actually struggling with a bit. I really don't want to be way under my calories for a few reasons, mainly long term sustainability and the fear of losing muscle/making myself ill. This week I'm finding it tough and have been under eating a lot. Strange because I'm lucky and have no side effects. No nausea, bad stomach etc. I'm going to try and make the conscious effort tomorrow to make better choices.

I have to agree with you about people changing their mind about doing this short term. I’m spending quite a bit of time throughout the day wondering if it will ever be something people could be on very long term.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/08/2024 21:37

Thanks @lookathatbookcase I kept reading about whey as well and wondered what it was

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/08/2024 22:23

Totally confused now over what size

1kg says 18 servings

Yet 500g says 20 servings

I have various ones in the fridge as a grab thing. I was really struggling to eat anything in my first week so it was one way I had of getting some protein. I just got them from Morrisons and got a few different brands to try out.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/08/2024 22:35

And sizing @WitchDancer ? I don't understand how the quantity varies with 500/1kg

One would assume it would be double

I like milkshakes so will order a strawberry one

AnnieMcFanny · 20/08/2024 22:37

Hi there, i had my first dose last Thursday evening and Im wondering when I have my next one. Is it Friday morning? Also, when do I have my first weigh in. Thank you.

They're different sizes and different brands have different protein content. I don't tend to look too closely and I'm not a calorie counter to be honest. It's really not my thing as I've got enough on my plate without tracking everything I want to eat!

Welcome!

There's no rules as to what you should do and when you should do it, other than the medication guideline. I think most people weighed on day 1 or just before, and then weigh daily or weekly depending on their preferences. I weigh weekly.

I did my first injection as soon as it arrived but changed to first thing for my second one as that worked better for me.

weaseleyes · 20/08/2024 23:39

I went with Thursday evening because I hoped I'd sleep through any adverse reaction! I think going to sleep afterwards did stop me stressing over whether I was feeling any different or not straight away. I've taken my weight from Friday morning.

I felt slightly peckish this afternoon and had my first snack all week - an apple and a tiny bit of cheese. I fretted about it afterwards, wondering if I was just going to be ravenous for the rest of the week, but then it occurred to me a few minutes ago that I hadn't had anything for dinner, so I can't be too be bad. Am looking forward to this feeling more routine - in a positive way.

FlappingMadly · 21/08/2024 00:26

Hello! First jab yesterday afternoon. I had a sleepless night and was very burpy this morning and again tonight. I feel nauseous on and off and a strange feeling - sort of hunger or excitement type sensation. It was a bit disappointing to be able to eat a bowl of muesli this morning - was hoping to not be able to finish it. As I’m travelling I won’t be able to weigh myself until Friday and am just praying for no gain as a loss is unlikely.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 21/08/2024 06:32

Feeling a night and day difference to last week. I'm waking up starving, I don't feel full and I have all the food noise. I'm gutted. I really thought this was going to work for me
