Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

@izzy2076
Yes re the insomnia, hence my musings at 4am! Tried magnesium but apparently took the wrong one (who even knew there were 6 types?) and got terrible squits. Must look at it again.

CiderJabs · 15/08/2024 14:08

@KrankyKumquat it's the magnesium glycenate that helps you sleep. It's been a life saver for me.

RagzRebooted · 15/08/2024 14:21

Second week back down at 7.5mg and I think I might have to go down to 5mg next week. I'm so nauseous (cyclizine is doing nothing), fatigued, standing for too long/doing anything physical makes me feel faint/dizzy. I have had what I thought was COVID, which I'm still getting over so it may be that not helping. But we're in the process of moving and I have so much to do but really struggling. Feeling very fed up, we've got less than 2 weeks and have no idea how everything is going to get done and feeling like I can't complain about feeling crap because I'm doing this to myself.

Moanranger · 15/08/2024 14:23

So I posted awhile ago about my steady but slow loss, which this week veered into a stall. So for this week, I have been strict with my eating - I have an almost ritualistic approach, small meals, certain foods, high protein, stop at dinner - and I have also been weighing every morning, which I do not enjoy!
But - I am now at my lowest weight, with 8.5lbs to Goal 1.
There is not much room for error. I lose what I do on 1100-1200 kcal/da. My first PT absolutely insisted that I should eat 1800 kcal/da, but I never lost on that. Whether it is insulin resistance, age, etc, who knows? I think a lot of these computations are flat wrong, and I now know what works for me.
I have an immediate problem in that I am going away for 1 week on an A.I. holiday. It’s a workshop type thing. I normally avoid A.I. I am v tempted to bring scales. I ordered the Renpho travel scales, but I think they are back-ordered so won’t arrive until Sept. Daily weighing is keeping me on the straight and narrow.
I will let you know how it works out.
ATM, I actually feel like I could eat this way for life. I don’t miss over-eating and my food choices are not too restricted.

AgathaMystery · 15/08/2024 14:55

I’ve got a tiny set of scales with me on holiday. New lowest weight seen yesterday morning - not lowest weigh HRT ever I don’t think. But lowest in a decade I reckon.

edited to add, I’m officially at my half way mark. I’ve lost 50% of the weight I need to loose to be a healthy weight, but I feel fantastic. Truly.

How much have you lost @AgathaMystery and how long did it take you ?

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 15/08/2024 18:38

@izzy2076 I've never had a clue what gen I am but I'm 40. I do remember the fat shaming in magazines - always thought that was ridiculous as they were never 'fat'.

@AgathaMystery I can't read the article as it's behind a paywall, but it sounds quite depressing - I don't intend to carry on taking MJ, so I don't know what I'll do if I can't keep the weight off.

Had a large breakfast today (free, via work - I wouldn't usually have breakfast at all 😄) and KFC for lunch. Yet I'm absolutely starving and it's only 6:30 😒. I don't usually eat until after 9pm so it's going to be an uncomfortable 3hrs until food time :(

imnottoofussed · 15/08/2024 19:22

Hi everyone just spotted this thread. Started 5th April lost 32.7lb or 14.8kg so far, 19 week weigh in is tomorrow so hopefully a little bit more then 🤞🏻

NextPrimeMinister · 15/08/2024 19:23

Well done @AgathaMystery. Great milestone!

@Moanranger I am the same, minimal calories, reduced eating window etc. At least I now know what I have to do to maintain (no going back to 'normal'). But can I do it without my liquid willpower?

KrankyKumquat · 15/08/2024 20:26

So tonight I thought I'd mix it up a bit with my diet and have some microwave cauliflower rice for the first time, with a dollop of home made chicken curry. This is gonna be great, I thought, i love cauliflower and it's a healthy alternative to rice with virtually no calories, everyone's raving about it. Two minutes later...OMG...the smell...the taste...the whole house needs airing...the kids are crying (not really, I haven't got any)....even the dog wouldn't finish it. Does anybody actually like this or did I choose a bad version?

Wonkypictureframe · 15/08/2024 20:49

I love cauliflower rice but it is quite whiffy!

Hello, everyone! And thanks for the invitation, @ObsidianTree . So lovely to see so many success stories.

As of this morning my BMI is 24.8 for the first time since I was a teenager. It’s taken me six months to lose just under 3 stone. And I’m now in my late 40s. I’m in size 14 jeans (nature has given me a round stomach and hips and a flat chest) and I’d love to lose another stone to get to BMI 23. This is partly as a cushion for weight regain, which I fear is very likely. I share the anxiety on here.

I’m so torn. I’m not eating very differently to how I normally did but with less booze, fewer ‘treat’ moments and smaller portions. It’s been painless and part of me thinks I could just stay on it forever but I am usually a big foodie and I do miss enjoying really lovely one-off treat meals. I wish I could have just the odd weekend off. I do think I can sustain the portion size (which is truly tiny - I’m another one whose body just hates them and my calorie intake is stupid) and the lack of alcohol so try to kid myself it’s worth trying to come off and allowing for some minor regain. I’ve kept off substantial weight loss in the past until a major life change but the last time that change was peri and that hasn’t actually gone anywhere!

I’m on 10mg and have two 7.5mg in the fridge and will see how the first month titrating down goes. I had appetite suppression from day one and only went up to 10mg to see if weight loss accelerated as that’s the lowest dose that’s meant to tackle insulin resistance.

Overall I feel amazing. So much more confident that I think I’ve ever felt. A combination of the fuck-it ness of middle age and not constantly hating the way I look is just brilliant. I don’t want to lose it straight away.

There you go - not as much as some and certainly I am not a fast looser!

I have a NSV victory to share. I'm going on holiday this evening and yesterday DH and I were packing and weighing our suitcases. Our biggest and heaviest check in luggage is 18kg - which is how much weight I've lost since starting mounjaro. It seems huge and heavy!

KeepingUndercover · 16/08/2024 07:59

@Wonkypictureframe congrats on getting to BMI under 25, that's brilliant and great that it's given you such a confidence boost. I am with you on the wishing I could have an occasional lovely treat meal.

@keepingitoff personally I would probably go up in your situation. If it's a real struggle to stay on plan then it seems like a waste of money bothering with the injections at all. One 7.5mg pen might be all you need.

@JanetSnakeholeMacklin that's a brilliant way of realising how much you've lost. Enjoy your holiday!

MelissaLouRocks · 16/08/2024 08:37

Thanks so much for this thread and the invite @ObsidianTree, I was really struggling to keep up with the other one, and didn't seem to recognise names any more!

I've no idea of my weight at the mo and sadly have to temporarily stop MJ. I was taken in for emergency surgery to try to remove any small remaining pieces of mesh, as I was very poorly and heading for sepsis.

All seems to have gone OK, but they'll be keeping me in until they're sure it's had the desired effect. Thankfully been moved out of intensive care last night to step down (bit like HDU), so I have some reception now. I really don't know what I'll do re food though, I usually bring in protein shakes etc and use the kitchen, but different ward so I can't do that. I don't exaggerate when I say the food's horrific in here, I'd literally rather never eat again than subject myself to that. 🤢

Hoping everyone's doing well, congrats to those who've lost or hit targets and good luck to everyone.

Let's hope this works and I won't be in here too long. 🤞

Stickthatupyourdojo · 16/08/2024 08:37

@JanetSnakeholeMacklin love that the suitcase represents how much you've lost. Have a brilliant time.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/08/2024 08:47

@AgathaMystery but it is still a loss so well done. Over 2 stone

Wonkypictureframe · 16/08/2024 10:14

@MelissaLouRocks that sounds very traumatic. Get well very soon.

Can they give you their own shakes? Or can anyone bring things in for you?

@JanetSnakeholeMacklin that is a brilliant way to see your loss!

Thank you. My daughter would usually visit regularly, but she's in another ward at the moment for her diabetes! I may call my carer and see if she can come over, though normally wouldn't drive this far.

They offered me shakes, but they're dreadful too with so much sugar. I tried one and threw up, I really can't do sweet things anymore it seems! I'm still on a drip and not hungry, so it's not desperate.

Stickthatupyourdojo · 16/08/2024 10:54

Oh no @MelissaLouRocks sorry to hear you've been so unwell, I hope you feel much better soon. Is there any way of doing one of those Tesco "whoosh" orders or similar to be delivered to the hospital? I'm semi rural but if you're in a town or city one of those apps that you could maybe get little basket shops delivered same day? Appreciate that's probably a costly option.

Oooh that's a great idea, thank you! I'm rural when at home so didn't think of it, but hospital in a city centre so great shout. 👍

Stickthatupyourdojo · 16/08/2024 11:24

Fingers crossed for some good food 🤞🏼

izzy2076 · 16/08/2024 11:29

@MelissaLouRocks can you get your carer to bring you a couple of bottles of huel? They are unsweetened and are good for getting in your protein and vitamins without gagging?

Thanks for the suggestion, but they have sweeteners and I can't do them. I usually use Purition as nothing artificial, but they don't do ready made so a little stuck there. I may get her to bring my collagen in though, there's a Costa down the hall and I can chuck that in my latte, get some protein from the milk too!
