Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

If anyone has a discount code I’d be very grateful x

There is a specific thread for discount codes, they aren't allowed elsewhere to prevent threads filling with spam

How do you get your referral code from Voy? Does anyone know?

Menopausalsourpuss · 07/08/2024 22:40

I have just been accepted for Zava, my delivery is due on Saturday to Tuesday. I have 2-3 stone to lose, never been overweight before but menopause has really affected me. It is vanity but also health for me as have heriditary diabetes in the family. My questions are:
How do you decide what exercise to do? Was aiming to stay running again but if eating c. 800 or 1000 calories is that a good idea?
Have worries around injecting and getting it wrong too. Grateful to hear stories on here!

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 07/08/2024 22:46

I've just done my first mj injection. I've got 3.5 st to lose.always carried extra weight but literally spent 5 years losing a few pounds by sticking to whatever (ww, sw, cals) and then binge eating back on. Hoping this will break the cycle.

I had to ask the same question. It's really complicated in the app - you need to click on the person on the top right of your screen, and then on order history, and then the three lines on the top left. Then you get an option to refer a friend, and that gives you the link.

Apparently it's easier on the website... 🤷‍♀️

End of day 5 for me

not really feeling anything massively different - had lunch out and ate a bit less than normal but not massively so and really did want to eat.

not had any side effects which is great but don’t feel like appetite is being suppressed….yet!
So hoping that kicks in soon!

Have been upping my walking and steps as well as swimming so wonder if it’s the extra exercise making me still hungry?

Mounjarome · 08/08/2024 06:40

I wouldn’t mind so much not being hungry but it’s the nausea and not actually being able to force anything down that I can’t cope with! If I can’t even eat a small portion I’m struggling to eat even more than 600 cals a day. Just woke with awful nausea worried I’ll be sick at work but I have a meeting I’m leading on first thing so I need to get it together!
day 5 now so hopefully this will start wearing off soon as I’m feeling so miserable. This was an expensive mistake for me! I so wish I was one of the many who don’t get side effects but this has not agreed with me at all 😞

So sorry to hear, hope you feel better asap!
sure I read someone drinking lots of peppermint tea was helpful with the MJ nausea

Day 6
Appetite suppression has pretty much gone although still a bit better than normal. I've not snacked or drank alcohol all week but last night got the evening munchies. Ended up scoffing a few handfuls of myhusbands salty popcorn. It could have been worse.
No other symptoms really. In my first week I've noticed that I struggle to eat first three days then the next few days I can eat the calories I should be eating for weight loss. Therefore, not going to stress next week if can't eat much first couple of days as know the last few days will be reasonably hungry.
Hows everyone doing? I am pleased with my first week.
I'm not going to weigh myself for the first month as don't want to obsess (which I do). Also terrified that I actually weigh even more that I said (I gave the weight from a couple of months ago as was on holiday when ordered and didn't have scales) which is highly likely.

But...already feel jiggly fat on my stomach, my bra feels less tight and a couple of my outfits feel a little looser.

I'm really looking forward to a lower bust size, chairs not creaking when I sit on them, feeling healthier, being able to wear what a want and being able to pick an item knowing it will fit. Also, people treat you differently when you are fat - I want people to be nicer.

trulybee · 08/08/2024 09:11

@Mounjarome So sorry you're feeling unwell. Let's hope it just initial side effects and that you will feel better as your body adusts. Fingers and toes crossed for you xx

My first pen is due to arrive today but I don't think I can do it.

I lost a LOT of hair during peri and menopause and I've only recently got used to it. I don't think I can risk losing more hair 3 months down the line and possibly throughout the mounjaro journey. It really had an impact on me.

What was your protein intake like when you lost a lot of hair originally? From what I have understood this is really key.

Less than it should be. I've been vegetarian for 30 odd years and always eaten quite a balanced diet, being mindful of having a source of protein at most meals. But with the information about now, it seems it probably wasn't high enough.

It's female pattern baldness so probably hormonal.

trulybee · 08/08/2024 09:30

@poppym12 I had hair loss after having an undiagnosed thyroid condition. I got medicated and ensured plenty of protein and also take Biotin daily and have not had any problems since. I'm really confident that if I continue to do this I won't have any worrying hairloss. I believe the hairloss comes not from Mounjaro in itself but by people eating well below their recommended calories for weightloss and not supplementing to ensure enough vitamins/minerals.

Princessandthepie · 08/08/2024 09:32

@Mounjarome ginger tea or even travel sickness pills may help with your nausea! Hope you feel better soon

Princessandthepie · 08/08/2024 09:47

Day 6,

5lbs down!

The bloating I feel after eating is crazy, and Im so burpy.

I've made an effort to eat breakfast this morning so I've had protein yoghurt with pumpkin seeds and chia seeds. Hoping this will improve my energy levels as getting out of bed these past few days has been an effort.

Overall, I don't think this 1st week has been so bad but next week, I'd like to have a better meal plan and be more organised food wise so that I have high protein food ready. I'd also like to incorporate some more exercise in to my routine.

I used to exercise 5 days a week and I do miss it, so I want to bring that back!! Does anyone know if there's an injection for motivation? 🤣

UniqueLemonOrca · 08/08/2024 10:10

I've just received my pen and was nervously wondering if I'd done the right thing. But I'm really encouraged by the posts on here so I'm taking the plunge today, literally, and will join this thread.

After all my pontificating yesterday about abstaining from alcohol, last night OH opened a bottle and I nigh on fell in to it. It was lovely- I was hoping I’d hate it and feel an aversion. I didn’t. At all. And zero ill effects to deter me next time either. Maybe after another jab or two it will happen…

Isn't the point of MJ that it doesn't deter you from these sorts of things, so you create a sustainable lifestyle afterwards?

If you enjoy a glass of wine you should be able to enjoy it without feeling guilty

trulybee · 08/08/2024 11:13

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease I think it's because quite a few of us would like to reign in our drinking- me included. Grin I would like to get to the stage where I am not drinking at home unless on rare occasions and when going out. That for me is what I want drinking to look like, not drinking a bottle or two at weekends. It's different for everyone. I'm doing a dry August and haven't fancied a drink yet- which is good.

Addictedtobeauty · 08/08/2024 11:13

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease you are right, of course, but I was hoping, for various reasons,, to not fancy it the same way I don’t fancy a takeaway. To be fair, if OH hadn’t opened it, I wouldn’t have had any. And if I wasn’t on holiday from work, it wouldn’t have happened. I ate no crap with it when normally I’d munch my way through a family size bag of crisps. These are definite wins. Cheers for the perspective.

JoyousSwan · 08/08/2024 11:14

Hiya everyone! I started with my first pen on Tuesday. Felt dreadful yesterday but TOTM also started so that also could have been a factor - had a really bad headache and felt exhausted all day. Had an early night and woke up feeling better today. Looking forward to reading about everyone's journey.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 08/08/2024 11:18

Fair enough! I'm not much of a drinker anyway so I hadn't bothered to look into the alcohol side of things!
