I tell you what is good though, usually in this situation I’d say fuck it and start planning pizza and 3 bottles of wine in the pub. MJ is stopping me doing that!

🎉🎉🎉

Bookings open one week before the class at 7am and you have to book on the app. I have not managed yet to get a place (I'm on a waiting list but no-one cancels!)

What a total pain. It must be really annoying. I ended up switching to a private gym from my LA one, not because I couldn't get a place but just because the timing of the classes was so inconvenient that it wasn't worth the trouble.

@CosyNan Brilliant. Really good news.

@Callmejudith Definitely go by your clothes and try not to be too discouraged. Totally understandable though as we all want to see lower numbers. Keep going though you are doing amazing. The time is passing anyway so keep at it.

I didn't do my second 7.5mg yesterday as going away until Monday. I will do it then. I feel like I have just recovered. Like I have had an illness for a week and I am just recovering. My first proper meal was last night. My stomach still has the off wave of nausea.

I may take 5 on Monday but will see after this weekend's damage. I don't go until tomorrow morning.

Ineffable23 · 09/08/2024 13:26

Just weighed formally for this week and am now down 19lb in 8 weeks.

I weigh daily, give or take, mainly because I find the weight fluctuations really interesting. If I have a weekend where I have a few glasses of wine etc I can gain 4 or more pounds over a single day, and then it just vanishes again over the next 3-4 days. It definitely helps take the emotion out of it for me because going up isn't a catastrophe, it's just a fluctuation.

SW (pre-MJ): 13 st 13lb
SW (for MJ): 12 st 10lb
CW: 11st 3lb

I've just hit BMI 27, am 1lb off having lost 20% of my body weight and am now less than a stone from a healthy weight. I'm really quite chuffed at that, so it's been a good week.

I think the not knowing your starting weight thing is a really hard one. I have done this before, started dieting a few weeks before I weighed myself and then not knowing how much I have actually lost really bugs me. Plus the horror when you do get on the scales and your current weight is more than you thought you'd start at. No answers really, just sympathy because I really know the feeling.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 09/08/2024 13:53

@Ineffable23 AMAZING! You must be feeling incredible 😁

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 09/08/2024 13:57

Checking in. Second week on 7.5. Already feel more suppression compared to last week which is good. Bike ride this morning for the first time in years. Arse hurts bad but felt good to be active!

SW 17st 7.4
CW 15st 7

2 stone officially gone! That's half of my 8 year old!

Callmejudith · 09/08/2024 14:58

@Ineffable23 that's brilliant well done. Thank you too for your kind words, you're totally right.

@Sewfrickinamazeballs you're smashing this

@coffeeandteav I feel like you're really suffering on MJ! How was 5 for you previously?

I think the key thing about MJ is you only have to decide to keep at it once a week rather than every single day. So as you say, you've had a bad day but you've got the tools to help you make good choices and to keep going in the right direction.

I also spent a while putting a graph together of my weight gain and weight loss. I don't know about other people but it took me about 4 years to put on 2.5 stone (i.e. where I am back to now vs my starting weight), in fits and starts and with some phases of losing 10lb or so and then getting distracted by work stress and giving up. That means that on average I was overeating by 650 calories a week in that period - less than 100 calories a day. That's super marginal. I know I want to lose weight quickly because once I've started I'm so excited for my progress etc, but I am really trying to remind myself that I put the weight on over 4 years and I have lost it over 15 months. If I step back it would seem reasonable to me that it should take half the time or even the same time it took to put it on to get rid of it. So anything that accelerates that is a bonus really.

It doesn't always help me feel logical when it is frustrating but sometimes when I have the capacity to step back it can help to think of it as that two way journey and that getting back faster than I got here is bonus really.

Callmejudith · 09/08/2024 17:06

@Ineffable23 yes absolutely - even if I wanted to self sabotage I know I'd feel horrendous!

Felt a bit weak at the gym this morning - my food has definitely been off this week being on a catered course but I can bring it back under control this weekend

Interesting 24hrs as I ended up eating my highest calorie total last night as I was just hungry for carbs logged 2000c. Slept really well, woke up with energy and did a weighted hitt session after walking the dog this morning and had lost another lb after stalling for a few days. My body has done this several times now guess it likes a re-feed then exercise before dropping some more fat.

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 09/08/2024 19:10

Thanks everyone! (I use the app and can't thank using this yet, grrrrrr)

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 09/08/2024 20:57

Anyone else get super tired the day after the jab? I slept until 9 today (usually wake around 6), barely keep my eyes open and felt very floppy today. Goes after a day but it's a pretty predictable side effect for me.

HamAlive · 09/08/2024 21:22

Hi all, joining you all and I'm at the start of Week 2. I took my second injection yesterday but I'm worried it isn't working this week as I am hungry today, whereas last week I was not remotely interested in food.

Today I have eaten well, plenty of protein, went for a walk at lunch, so I am still actively trying. But last week I was so happy as not being able to overeat is exactly what I need. I know how to eat well but I will eat even if I'm not hungry. I lost 4 stone years ago and kept it off for years until covid hit, and have steadily put it all back on and more.

Mine is a bit random but definitely just having more super exhausted days while on this. That plus a tendency to constipation (which tbh is a welcome change from the IBS-D I normally have) is about the most I seem to have in side effects.

Did anyone else find themselves absolutely freezing for their first couple of weeks and still periodically from time to time? That's my other main one - I have been sitting under a blanket working this week still which is ridiculous. It was a bit cooler than it has been but the house was still 22 degrees which is normally very comfortable.

5mg was ok after 3 weeks I was back to bad habits so moved up to 5.

I have lost 33lbs just wish there was less nausea.

ExpatAl · 09/08/2024 23:52

Oh wow wow wow!
Huge congratulations to all of you! It’s so exciting to read such great results. Really inspiring.
I’m starting next week. Can’t wait!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 10/08/2024 08:02

@coffeeandteav good to hear that the 5 is ok now but yuck to the nausea😩
@Ineffable23 I was a bit cold on the 2.5 on occasions but not too bad now I’m on 5 although I am def running cooler than usual!
@HamAlive welcome! I would say that 2.5 was very much a 'discovery' time for me. Seeing what happened and how my body responded to different things. Hunger is not a bad thing - just eat sensibly. I am now 4 weeks into 5mg and still have occasional hunger - it's learning to deal with it without a mad binge that's important.

Went out for a Thai meal last night. Are pretty much what I normally would and had half a bottle of wine. Won't be doing that again! 🤦‍♀️ Feel so nauseous this morning and have a headache and just generally feel very sorry for myself. 😩

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 10/08/2024 08:02

Oh and welcome @ExpatAl good luck on your journey!

daffodilandtulip · 10/08/2024 08:24

Well it worked it's magic overnight and that last 1lb fell off in time to start 7.5mg 🙌🏼

SW 15th June 13st 7lb, BMI 36.9
CW 12st, BMI 32.8

Total loss 21lbs ... WHICH IS EXACTLY HALF MY GOAL!! That’s a 4lb loss this week and a total of 11.1% of my body weight. In 8 weeks. Madness.

Like other pp said, I'd be like ok you've done well now, that's enough, let's go eat the crap again, but I'm so motivated to continue and actually reach a healthy weight (still obese 😂).

coffeeandteav · 10/08/2024 09:04

Weigh day

Week 1 -8 15.8
Week 2-3
Week 3 -2
Week 4-4
Week 5-5 14.0
Week 6 -2 13.12
Week 7 +1 13.13

week 8 -6 13.7

Week 9 -2 13.5

Week 10-2 13.3

2 stone 5 down.

Jabbing late this week as going away. So I will probably gain this week.

Also my BMi has just gone under 30. Whooo!

I actually weighed more than 15.8 also when i ordered the jab. I took two weeks to start. Think it was 15.10 when I first sent photos.

Thank you. I do struggle with overeating but I am making much better choices, so hopefully that with the MJ will help me long term! Great that it's helping you, hope you're feeling better soon.

@daffodilandtulip @coffeeandteav great weigh ins!

I Weighed again this morning and the scales were down. I’ve decided my start weight was 93kg and my goal is 75kg. 10 days until my holiday.

Not long to go. Have you decided what you will do about your dose?
