Hello. Started Mounjaro today. I'm 41, currently a size 20 and weigh 103 kg.
Cannot despite this diet successfully so hoping this will help.

Took my first injection today and just hoping it works!

I know to drink lots of water and keep meals small. Any other tips?

Thank you Flowers

Hi there, I'm just starting too and a similar weight, I don't have many tips sorry but place marking to listen in, hope that is OK.

Cerialkiller · 25/07/2024 19:07

Take the opportunity to clean up your diet asap, mj doesn't work immediately for most people, and even when it does it tends to wear off in the latter half of the week especially in the early weeks.

Avoid spicy food, fatty fried food (especially deep-fried) and alcohol and introduce in small amounts if wanted.

I personally did a mid dose between months as I was worried about side effects. So I did a 3.75 dose between months 1 and 2 and a 6.25 dose between months 2-3 but I recognise that this isn't technically following the instructions, I saw too many people having a hard time so it was worth it for me.

Keep your pen cold until you use it, then it can come out of the fridge. Prime the needle every time. This accounts for any faulty needle and avoids the risk of wasting a dose with a broken needle that hasn't been checked.

I started on Monday and 5 pounds down already ( I am type 2 diabetic too).
My daughter started 13 weeks ago and lost two stone.. so I'm getting my tips from her.
Plenty of protein.
Plenty of water .
Peppermint oil capsules for burps/ wind.
Ginger capsules if you feel sick and collagen for skin.
Touch wood I've had no side effects at all.. but l realise 2.5mg is the loading dose to get your body use to it.
Stop eating once you feel full.
But always eat something for energy even if you don't feel like it.
I took a full length photo of myself in my favourite dress.
Every month when l do my next dose up.. I'll take another photo in same dress.
Good luck.
P.S l started at 20 stone .. 5ft 7.
Serverly disabled... but l do go swimming at least once a week.

No symptoms do far and not felt hungry! Had a small and healthy 3 meals today with loads of water throughout the day.

Yuck. I've got such an upset stomach today. Maybe I over ate yesterday. We had one of those all day, in the garden parties with husbands friends yesterday

OliviaFlaversham · 28/07/2024 07:15

I am in a very similar boat…just haven’t plucked up the courage to do it!

How do you know where to buy it from and if it is reputable? This is my biggest hurdle in my head atm. Is being overweight enough reason for them to prescribe it or do you need another factor?

Ill be following your progress and hope to be adding my experiences too!

SilenceInside · 28/07/2024 07:43

@OliviaFlaversham there are big name companies that are offering it, such as Boots and ASDA online, if you are worried about using a lesser known company.

Rich foods spicy foods and alcohol are notorious for upsetting your stomach whilst on MJ. I've been on it for 4 months now so my advice would be to make fluids and protein a priority. Drink water and aim for at least 100g of protein a day. Track your calories. A lot of us use the nutracheck app. Expect to get some side effects such as tiredness, feeling cold, sulphur burps and possibly a bit of loose stools or constipation some days. Don't be in a rush to jump up to a higher dose this is a strong medication, if the lower doses work for you and it suppress your appetite and you loose weight then stay on that dose until it doesn't. I'm on week 17 and still only on 3.75mg. I've lost 38 pounds in weight. You will still feel hungry on MJ and that's normal.

Online companies that I have used are Medexpress and Pharmulous. Both have been good.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/07/2024 09:38

@OliviaFlaversham you need a bmi of 30 or over or 27 with some weight related health issues.

Have a look at the 'main thread' - Continuing Mounjaro 17 at the moment and there is a pinned post with names of some suppliers. Google mounjaro pharmacy and start reading. Apparently, the pharmacies need to have a listed registration number in the footer of their website. You could then look up that number if you wanted to check on the pharmacy details. I am currently with Voy which is very a very popular subscription service but am going to move to the Care Pharmacy for my next pen and hopefully stay with them. I have read A LOT of info on pharmacies😂

Awww you poor thing. I have no nights out coming up and avoided even a glass of wine all weekend! I think I had the fear. Happy so much to.
Hope you feel better today

@OliviaFlaversham I was so worried about this. I've bought mine from Superdrug which I think are more expensive than the codes lots of people are sharing but I wanted to buy from a UK regulated site. I presumed I could then purchase from a different supplier at a later date once I did research. However I now think that may be challenging/impossible as I don't think you can start a new company with a higher dose

Still no food noise. This is so strange for me. Been keeping to really plan foods in hope of keeping symptoms at bay.

YouveGotAFastCar · 28/07/2024 11:40

I started last week; second injection tomorrow for me. I’ve been surprised by the lack of side effects. A reduction in food noise for me and a big reduction in appetite so I’ve definitely eaten less, although I gained 5kg the day after the jab and it’s been so slow coming back off. No idea what’s gone on, but I think I’ll finish tomorrow 1kg up 😐

Cantfindanavailablename · 28/07/2024 11:44

I've still got an upset stomach. I start work at 3 so am praying it settles before then.

Not gonna lie, I actually paid to see a private GP in person to get the go ahead from him. I wanted reassurance that it would be ok. I'm going to attempt to buy online from now on

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/07/2024 12:11

@WeightLossGoal2024 You can move pharmacies for a higher pen. You just need to show proof of current prescription either via a pic of your box with the label showing your name etc or with a copy of the prescription from your current supplier.

Cesarina · 28/07/2024 12:29

Sorry to butt into this thread, but I'd never heard of Mounjaro until I saw it discussed on Mumsnet.
I thought initially that posters were talking about Mount Kilimanjaro and misspelling it!🙈
Now I can't get the bloody mountain out of my head every time I see Mounjaro mentioned 🙄
Does anyone else have this issue?
And btw.........I don't mean to belittle this product, and sincerely hope that all Mumsnetters who are trying it have the success that they hope for.

justrecognisedmyneighbouronhere · 28/07/2024 12:47

I want to start this. Is about £120 for four weeks the right amount to pay?
