Weight loss for those with only a stone or two to lose?

Hey all, I'm seriously considering Mounjaro after battling my weight all my life. I've never been really overweight, just in the overweight, slightly obese category. (Currently 31 BMI).

I'm hoping for some experiences from people with less to lose? What sort of losses did you see? Assume it's slower with less to lose?

I've recently learned the term 'food noise' and that so perfectly explains my brain every day!!

I did underwear I was allowed to cut of the head do didn't care.
Also if someone gets Rocks off on my huge gut then they need help so go for it.

That’s really interesting, as Med Express said it was compulsory to show my face as they had to match it to my ID. Which makes sense. However they said fully clothed was fine as long as tight-fitting. I actually did bikini in the end.

So my PT today tried to convince me that I 'just need to get back into a routine, consistency is key' spiel for about 2mins before realising I'd already made up my mind and giving up 😆

My other half is concerned about possible effects on hormones/HRT because I've had lots of issues with this and is also asking what happens when I come off it and will I gain again etc etc. I guess this is the part no one knows yet though 🤔

I had gradually been gaining weight for the past two or three years despite going to the gym more and being permanently on a diet. I hit a BMI of 30 around the time Mounjaro was released and thought that I might as well give it a go.
That was middle of April. I have now lost 18 pounds and have another 7 to go to reach a healthy BMI. The weight is coming off very very slowly (it's about a pound a week on average although it was more in the first couple of weeks and now I'm in a long stall) but it is actually coming off. And I'm not so hungry that I want to cry which is how I usually feel when I am on a diet and I have tried them all over the years.
I have only been on 5mg for the past couple of weeks as when I initially went up to it after the first few weeks I had severe D&V so dropped back down to 2.5mg and then built up very gradually.

In terms of hormones, I've been on HRT for 16 months and going on MJ has had about as dramatic a difference to my sense of well being, sleep and get up and go as HRT did. It's amazing. Many of us have noticed that our cycles get longer although mine has now reduced back to normal again.
Talking about hormones makes me think I should flag that it does make some forms of contraception less effective so watch out for that if relevant!

God losing weight is so boring isn’t it? Deciding to take action then realising it will be weeks and weeks to see results. No wonder people go crazy for quick fixes.

I also think you can get into a mentality of “I’ll do that/buy this/go there when I’m thinner,” rather than doing nice things while you’re waiting.

I’m only on day 3, am just eating sensibly as not feeling much appetite suppression, test will be this weekend with no wine! Husband has agreed to stay off bottle too though until we go on holiday on the 5th.

Will not weigh myself until week 1 is up.

I'm really glad I started this thread, some really helpful responses. Thanks everyone ☺️ would love to keep hearing how it's going for everyone!

What about if you go out drinking? Does it impact that? I don't drink generally, but do if I go out for an occasion.

I'm now trying to work out the best time to start. I'm thinking maybe September when the kids go back to school..

Drinking I've only had a glass wine or a gin and tonic.

Mostly as I don't want to waste calories but also as I dont know how I'll be.

One drink has been ok tho.

Hi! I started at BMI 33 and now am just under 30. MJ is game changing, the lack of food noise it gives you is amazing.

re: drinking, a lot of people just don’t fancy a drink on MJ, similar to food! I’ve had an occasional glass of wine and it’s been fine, but I wouldn’t recommend drinking a lot as apparently the hangovers are a lot worse.

good luck with your journey, excited for you!

Chicksville007 · 26/07/2024 16:50

Well I’ve been refused MJ by Med Express and also tried Voy who have said no. Although Voy have recommended appetite suppressants. Feel let down as I got a little excited and reading all your stories quite positive. Maybe it’s because I have a thyroid problem. I don’t know 🤷‍♀️

I have ordered some, do they work??

CremeDeSudo · 26/07/2024 21:19

Oh no! Don't they tell you why?

What are the appetite suppressants?

@Chicksville007 have you checked your bmi? If your under 30 then they’ll all turn down your request

Chicksville007 · 27/07/2024 09:12

My BMI is 32, I just thought/think it is because of my thyroid

CremeDeSudo · 27/07/2024 13:08

That must be really disappointing 😞

I've decided I'm going to get back to it on Monday, tracking, eating right, gym 3-4 times a week, at least 8k steps a day. I'll start MJ in Sept as I have 2x social events end of August I'd like to binge drink on!!

That way I can placate the PT and other half that it doesn't work for me!
