Anyone in Ireland using these?

I'm around 15 stones and 5ft 2 and so my BMI is over 35. I went to see my GP a few weeks ago for help with losing weight but she was saying that low calorie diets are unhealthy and to focus on healthy eating and exercise. (!)

I'm in my 50's and was a healthy weight until I hit peri-menopause and then walloped it on. I'm on vagifem for dryness but otherwise nothing else.

I'm reading all these threads about weight loss injections to curb your appetite although my main problem is snacking.

Can we get these injections in Ireland, and if so, how??

Yes my Aunt was prescribed Wegovy a couple of months ago. She's 51, bmi over 30 and has a couple of other health conditions.

I'm on Ozempic two years.

Thank you for replying.

Do you ask via your GP or is there an alternative as my GP seems to think my unhealthy BMI isn't anything to worry about. 😩

Hi, yes you can but far less options. @Casacalida1 you can get wegovy here?

I asked my GP for weight loss injections and she said the only options available here are ozempic or saxenda.

However, not only was my GP happy to prescribe one of those she also managed to get it approved to be covered under the Drugs Payment Scheme. I am 17 stone and 5 5. (so BMI under 40) I had to take a lot of blood tests to get approved for this and it took a few weeks.

I started this thread for ideas https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/craicnet/5044697-weight-loss-drugs-ireland and someone there suggested Beyondbmi as an option for getting injections.

Also, when googling I did find one of those websites where you send your medical information and they would prescribe saxenda. It involved getting a paper signed by your pharmacist or something and I decided I was more comfortable going to my GP!
