Oh my tummy hurts a bit today. I haven't had any side-effects till now.

I was the same a couple of days ago, no previous side effects - Pen 1 / 3rd injection + 6 days.

Tip - stay close to the loo just incase!

Callmejudith · 14/07/2024 17:36

Bbq with my oldest girlfriends today and I think I’ve found my MJ compatible drink - Pimms! Ask me again in the morning though 😄

AnnaBosque · 15/07/2024 01:49

Lost my appetite suppression, probably because I couldn’t get the full 5th dose out with that hard twist. Just waiting for my 5ml injection on Wednesday now.

Summerheels · 15/07/2024 05:59

Keep going @SwiftPeak im taking consolation that I’m still less hungry and have reduced food noise but I can feel less suppression. I’m going to try do more weights / body weight exercises and build muscle. I do not want to be stuck at 12st next week!I got 0.7ml of the bonus dose out which I took yesterday but interestingly had hardly any impacts like it usually does (so far).

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 15/07/2024 06:08

Had a weekend away so just catching up. Well done on all the losses everyone. Collectively, we must have lost a huge amount!

Camped at a local festival on the weekend. Drank a bit, not a lot. Did get stuck eating chips and 'burger van' type food as you weren't allowed to take your own stuff in. Suppression still good on 5mg so only had a couple of shandy's and small bits to eat, and did loads of dancing and walking. Hoping I didn't do too much to derail weight loss this week.

Fingers crossed for you @Sewfrickinamazeballs.

I've been on holiday for 2.5 weeks, including a hen do. Didn't restrict what I was eating or drinking but didn't want to eat what I usually do by some margin. Didn't go to the gym as I usually would but I have walked 175km in that time.

I have lost 3.5lb in that period - I was hoping it would be more tbh but I guess my lesson to take away is that care is required (and I shall hope that the Chinese takeaway I ate for dinner last night is also a temporary part of the cause). I also need to force myself to remember that this is a long term process and I have to balance living my life with losing weight and that without the medication I would be absolutely delighted with losing 3.5lb over 2.5 weeks. I have also only been dosing once every 8 days as I couldn't take a second pen with me, so not sure if that was part of it.

I also had a fairly heavy (19lb) rucksack which I was carrying for a good chunk of that. I was amazed actually - I have lost more than that over the the combination of MJ and my own efforts and I genuinely can't believe I used to carry that around all day every day. I could do with losing another 22lb again and I am thinking maybe I need to force myself to walk around with the weight I have lost in a rucksack periodically to remind myself why I am doing this.

Got the bonus dose out but it did require pliers and I lost a small amount accidentally doing a slight depression as I followed my usual route of putting the needle in before I did the twisting (and then putting the cover back on to play around with it). I think next time I would try without the needle in and put it in afterwards. Is that what other people are doing?

Summerheels · 15/07/2024 07:48

@Ineffable23 sounds like a fab couple of weeks away and your right we need to think long term and balance it with the enjoyment of life. I had a week away and lost nothing but didn’t gain either which on a normal holiday I would always come back 2-3lbs heavier. After 2d at home back to normal exercise & housework & gardening I’ve woken up 1lb down whoop! I’m away again next weekend with a couple of tricky meal out situations to navigate so hoping I can continue to make healthy choices.

SarahB88 · 15/07/2024 08:22

Really pleased with a loss of 1.5kg this week! I’ve just done my last 2.5mg dose so looking forward to seeing results on the 5mg! I’m hoping for another kg down this week before starting 5mg so that would equate to about half a stone lost which would be amazing for me as I’m so slow to lose weight normally,

SW: 106.5kg
Week 1 105.4kg
Week 2: 104.9kg
CW: 103.4kg

GW probably about 80-85kg 🤞

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 15/07/2024 08:25

Well done @SarahB88 and I love your attitude! Slow and steady does it 😁

SarahB88 · 15/07/2024 08:29

Thanks @IReallyNeedThisToWork! I also got my first period since having my baby 8 weeks ago (I’m not breastfeeding) so I’m wondering if my slow loss is down to that coming on and will now speed up.

It’s really inspiring seeing the losses everyone is having!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 15/07/2024 08:33

Oh massive congratulations on the new baby @SarahB88 !!! Take it easy and look after yourself x

Callmejudith · 15/07/2024 08:59

Well done @SarahB88 and big congrats on your new baby!

DS last week at primary this week and I am an emotional wreck. I need to get through two musical performances and a leavers mass without chocolate or wine.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 15/07/2024 09:04

@Callmejudith end of an era! Tissues, lots and lots of tissues always needed for the big milestones! Even us teachers get emotional waving them off to new pastures 😁

TheShellBeach · 15/07/2024 09:11

@Ineffable23 I bought some sterile needles and syringes and get the bonus dose out that way. Literally withdraw it via the bung having wiped it with a swab first.

Panick · 15/07/2024 09:23

Words of wisdom or support needed please! I have lost exactly a stone in 6 weeks, which I'm pleased with in that it is definitely fat loss not water and I can fit into some clothes I haven't worn for a while. However, nearly all of that loss was in the first 4 weeks and I have lost maybe a pound or 2 since, which come and go constantly. I am on 3.75 now and have increased gastric discomfort at this level, no appetite and have to make sure I eat something. I drink plenty, including electrolytes. If I drink alcohol, my goodness I am ill for a couple of days after so I have totally knocked that on the head! (I was a dit of a drinker!) So - next to no booze, somewhere between 800-1400 cals day, going to the gym 2-3 times a week plus more active generally....why have I stalled?? What can I do to get things going again? I have 3 stone more to go do it's not as if I'm anywhere near target 😫

Summerheels · 15/07/2024 09:55

@panick do have a look at the main MJ thread your pattern off loss is very normal. I’m expecting a similar slow down to 1lb a week. I lost 40lbs ten years ago post maternity and it took me 6 months to lose a 14lbs despite lots of exercise and averaging 1200-1400c a day. Some bodies do just take a long time. Try to find other positives are you feeling more in control around food, are your clothes looser, you are still losing and focus on toning & strength building maybe? It’s taken years normally to gain this weight and it’s a lot harder when you age as well. Also it feels counter productive but have 1-2days eating a bit more then drop again and you may see it come off. I’ve tried that and others on the main thread they had the same effect.

Callmejudith · 15/07/2024 10:13

@Panick I was going to say the same thing as Summerheels (who said it much better than I could :) I think it's a very normal pattern and weight loss is never linear. I know some people say weigh everyday as then you can see the pattern and it will be heading down overall. I'm trying to bring myself to actually do this myself.

A stone of proper loss (not water) is bloody good in 6 weeks. I'd also think about how long that would take to do without MJ.

TheShellBeach · 15/07/2024 10:17

I agree with this.

Also, the six weeks without MJ would have been torturous, feeling constantly hungry!

achangeofnameisasgoodasarest · 15/07/2024 12:31

A stone in six weeks is excellent - and @TheShellBeach is right about the torture it would be without. The best thing about MJ for me is that my husband has pretty much forgotten I'm on it because it doesn't feel like a diet and the three teens have absolutely no idea (I really don't want them thinking about this stuff as they're so wonderfully confident in their bodies at present, which means I would never want to be on a 'diet' around them).

I've managed to swim every day since joining the fancy private school gym - even though my DDs pointed out that I don't look like the fancy private school mothers (not enough Lululemon apparently)... and braved a terrifying gym induction where I got grilled by a very serious nutritionist when I was expecting just to be shown around by a bored teen. Now to actually brave the gym!

Hopefully this will help to make a difference.

I'm also nearly up to ordering my next pen so if anyone does need a Zava code, here is mine. I've found them very good.

Hi all, I’m doing my 4th injection of 2.5 mg on Wednesday and I’ve only lost 4lbs 😭😭. I have lost 5 stone on slimming world but then just stopped losing no matter what I did so after 3 months of despair, I started Mounjaro.

im going up to the 5mg to see if that makes any difference as I’ve another 6 stone to lose and am losing hope!

SilenceInside · 15/07/2024 12:43

It's easy to forget that the 2.5mg first four weeks of Mounjaro aren't intended to produce weight loss. So any loss during that time is good. The 5mg is the first officially therapeutic dose, where you would expect to see weight starting to steadily drop off. The stats for overall weight loss are for people on MJ for a sustained period of time and on at least 5mg a week,

Thanks for this, I’m so impatient lol

I didn’t have any side effects on the 2.5 and hoping that it’s the same for the 5mg but I’ve heard horror stories!

I'm just about to inject my fourth dose of 2.5mg.

I've had a bit of tummy pain over the last 24 hours, and slight nausea.

Those are the only side-effects I've had.

I've taken dimenhydrinate 100mg and it's working.

You can buy that on Ebay. Look up Equate travel sickness tablets.

Callmejudith · 15/07/2024 13:09

@Eyeslikethesea I would definitely feel disappointed to that 2.5 didn't work but yep it's really just to get you used to things.

@achangeofnameisasgoodasarest good luck for the gym! My best advice is to write down your intended routine and just stick to it. Keep it simple. Maybe just do dumbbells then you can stay in one spot and get it done.

Reporting in on the Pimms side effects. Definitely definitely better than anything else I've tried drinking. Insatiably thirsty today but no nausea.
