Mounjaro - how quickly did you notice its effect?

Hello, I'm about to start taking Mounjaro tomorrow on the starter dose of 2.5mg, and wondered if any of you who have been taking it for a while can tell me how soon the effects kicked in. Given that a full dose is 10mg plus, I am dubious that such a small dose will do anything at all, given how large I am and how huge my appetite is. Would love to hear from you with any feedback! Thank you.

@dublin10 unused pens can be stored (must be stored) in the fridge up until the end of their expiration month which is printed on the pen. The expiration dates are usually several months away, my current pen's expiry date is March 2026 as an example.

I’m about to do my first jab on Monday and nervous about doing it properly. I am excited to start the weight loss journey as have tried so many other diets . I gather protein daily is a must .

yes, aim for 1g per 1kg of body weight, it is really important to ensure you lose fat and not muscle. And the reason it it’s important is the vast majority are overwhelmingly successful on these drugs, and are not on other diets, it also helps with ensuring your hair stays healthy.

also drink at least 2 litres of water a day, we pee out fat, and eat clean, ie avoid anything fatty, sugary, too many carbs and too spicy, you could get gastrointestinal impacts ie sickness/the runs.

also if you wish to avoid sulphur burps avoid high sulphur foods.

take a daily fibre or psyllium husk. Keeps you regular.

and lastly try to exercise, particularly strength, again as you want to lose fat and not muscle. Plus muscle helps burn fat. You don’t want to get to the end of the journey and find yourself with a flat arse, struggling to get up and sagging.

good luck, the drugs are fantastic, I’m nearly 3.5 stones down in 5 months, with another 1.5 to go and feel amazing.

Thank you! Only got it today and I didn’t see any date on it! Just wondering if I could leave it in fridge until I get back from holiday at beginning of March!

TheHappyJoker · 10/02/2025 22:39

Until the use by date on the box.

Gettingslimmer · 11/02/2025 07:40

Op the use by date is on the pen itself.

Could anyone who had symptoms when they first started give any advice - every morning my tummy is quite upset - I’m eating pretty simple food - and small portions but the diarreah isn’t getting better as week goes on - I’m sue to jab on Thurs evening - but have a long car ride on Saturday and a bit worried…my tummy does settle as the day goes on - but 6am-9am involves multiple trips to the loo! Did anyone w similar symptoms find it improved as weeks go on - I assume it must! Am thinking of trying thigh and maybe a smaller dose? How do you work that out w clicks? Presumably you end up at the end of month with a lot of leftover?

dublin10 · 11/02/2025 15:05

Thank you nonnahopeful for response! I’m going on holiday on 23rd Feb for 1 week and was going to wait to start on my return. I’m also very nervous about the injection as never did it before! Thanks for all the advice that’s been posted! It’s useful to read and encouraging!😊

I had the same in week 2. Loperamide helped. I had to stop treatment for 2 weeks due to jury service (not risking a bad stomach there!), and then restarted, using my arm as injection site. Touch wood, I’ve been fine on my second, second week.

MyPlumZebra · 11/02/2025 20:49

I asked this question...as long as not started it can be left for bbe date, but once started gotta use it in 30 days 😀

Roundbale · 02/03/2025 14:31

Week 2 ,day 10 now. Lost 5 pounds. Massive increase in weights/cardio. Just did a long run. No real side effects but feel in control. By day 5 of week 1 felt the urge for sugar and old habits of weekend 'treats'. My bmi was 27 as high cholesterol . Want to get my health in order

Can you store monujaro outside of the fridge eg bedroom??

Sweetpea6451 · 05/03/2025 14:26

Hi can you store your monujaro pen at room temperature instead of fridge??

SilenceInside · 05/03/2025 14:28

@Sweetpea6451 before you use it for the first time it must be kept refrigerated. Once you have used it, it can be stored either in or out of the fridge, your choice.

Sweetpea6451 · 05/03/2025 14:31

Thank you for that...

Hello.

It was the next day for me but I've never really had what I would call total suppression. Never really had much in the way of side effects and I've been on it about 8 weeks now.

I've never gone up from 2.5mg and never needed to. For me, it cuts down a lot of food noise and enables me to eat smaller portions. I also exercise!

I've attached a photo below - I was 14 stone 12 ish and I'm close to a 3 stone loss now

Good luck to you!

wow this is amazing. I know this thread is old but I really want to try it. How long did it take to shift the 3stone? X

How long can Monjaro be stored in the fridge before I can use it

it can be stored in the fridge until the date on the bottom of the box.

Once opened, you can keep at room temp (up to 30’) for 30days.

It only needs to be in the fridge until you open it. I

t can then be kept at room temperature (under 30’) for 30 days.

The date is on the bottom of the box. It’s 24 months from manufacture so you should be fine!

TheHappyJoker · 13/04/2025 23:55

Have you tried any over the counter medicines for your diarrhoea? it might be worth speaking to your pharmacist.

Yes. As long as it’s the pen that you’re currently using and the room is less than 30’C

On day 5 of mounjaro 2.5mg and haven't experienced any side effects at all and haven’t lost my appetite at all yet. Not what I was expecting after hearing how others instantly lost their appetite or felt sick. Hoping they’ll start to suppress my appetite after the next injection on Wednesday. Could really do with all the help I can get.

That sounds disappointing.

The 2.5mg is only to get your body used to it so hopefully, you’ll feel the benefit of the 5mg.

(People all have different levels of natural GLP-1 in their bodies. Those with higher amounts may feel the benefit quicker and vice versa)

Roundbale · 14/04/2025 08:45

I'm.going opened 35 days
