I've been on it a month and have lost 3.8 kgs. I'm a bit disappointed as I haven't eaten much right through. I haven't had any sweet things and hardly any alcohol. Starting the 5 mg dose today and wondering what the hell to expect!

For those of you who've been taking the 5 mg - are you eating less than on 2.5? It's hard to think what I'd do differently.

Tirzepatide · 30/06/2024 13:36

I was thinking of staying on the 2.5 mg @fairydust11 but I ordered the 5 mg pen anyway. I pleased I did for two reasons - obviously cheaper to take half a dose from the 5 mg pen to get the 2.5 mg and I've also felt quite hungry this last couple of days so I'm not sure that 2.5 mg is going to give me the results I want. I may do 3.75 mg to start with.

Callmejudith · 30/06/2024 13:54

@thesugarbumfairy your point about mindset after one week 100% struck a chord with me. Usually I’m super good for 5 days, then the weekend hits and more snacks sneak in, the the next week I’ve lost
mojo and second weekend is a disaster, back to the first week and repeat. This stuff is keeping me on track

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 30/06/2024 14:14

Recovering from a local festival this morning. Fruit cider was drunk, Greek gyros was eaten, crisps were crunched....but, it was a lot less than I normally would have. Fully expect to put on a bit this week as Tuesday seems to be the day my weekend indulgences hit.

I upped to 3.75 for my last dose (used a bit of the bonus dose after asking voy for some extra needles). 5mg pen on the way tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 30/06/2024 14:16

@panick I’m only in my second week of 2.5 so cannot advise from personal experience but, from what I have read, if your appetite is suppressed and you are losing, maybe stay on the same level for another month and see what happens. 8 lbs in 4 weeks is a decent loss and your body is getting used to its new normal.
Re protein - there’s an interesting discussion on the main Mounjaro thread about this 100g number that is floating around and a lot of people feel that less than that is absolutely fine! I reckon I am hitting around 50g a day too so you are not alone😁

fairydust11 · 30/06/2024 14:59

Thanks @Tirzepatide I was thinking the exact same thing actually not long after posting as I thought maybe if I buy the 5mg pen, I can always give myself the lower dose & then when feeling brave I can step up to 3.75 & possibly 5. As you say, the pen will last a bit longer that way & It will help me to make the increase a bit more gradual with hopefully fewer side effects.

Callmejudith · 30/06/2024 16:35

Wow we’ve nearly filled a thread! Do we stay in this June group or go somewhere else?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 30/06/2024 16:48

Please can we stay here @Mycatatemydinner ? Would love to see how everyone gets on!

coffeeandteav · 30/06/2024 16:53

Definitely.

I feel so sick on this 5mg dose it is keeping me from eating.

tellmeitsnotjustme12 · 30/06/2024 17:17

I’ve just taken my third 2.5mg dose, have decided to stay on 2.5mg for now as have had a just under 6lb loss in two weeks and minimal symptoms. Slightly worried about not keeping on loosing but didn’t want to increase dose whilst on holiday and spoil it by feeling ill.

Protein should be roughly 0.8g for every kilo you weigh. So me starting at approx 140kg needed 112g of protein which is bloody hard to hit as a vegetarian and then not actually wanting to eat! Someone lighter would need less

Morning all

I did my second jab last Wednesday (2.5) and since then have felt, well, nothing! None of the slight side effects I had in the first week, and can't say my appetite feels as suppressed as before.
I am wondering if people's appetite suppression comes due to the side effects of feeling nauseous, or whether some people have no side effects apart from the suppression?
We are still on holiday and I'm worried I didn't do something right with the injection? We travelled with the pen in an insulated lunch box alongside some frozen sausages to keep it cool 😂 That wouldn't have affected it would it?!!

I have been really lucky so far and haven't had any major side effects which are stopping me eating - unless I over eat in which case the delayed stomach emptying makes for an uncomfortable night. But that's the same feeling as if I had overeaten normally just with less food.

I have had some minor acid indigestion but I tend towards that anyway so just take an omeprazole if it's flaring up.

I definitely have no massive desire to eat any more but feel totally fine in and of myself. I ate a "massive" (by new standards) dinner last night at about 7pm - after a 20km walk and a sea swim, of a slice of bread and butter, 3/4 of a plate of pasta and 1/4 of a pudding. I was so full that I didn't get hungry today until 2pm ish.

Newme24 · 30/06/2024 23:01

Can someone talk some sense into me please. I've just taken my first 5mg injection and I'm really panicking and feeling so breathless. I've been absolutely fine on 2.5mg don't know what's gotten into me. Really struggling. I've had a really busy weekend and had an event today that's been in the diary for months and I finally did it and I don't know if the adrenaline leaving my body is making me feel this way. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and still smashing it on the Mounjaro xx

That sounds horrid. Hopefully you're feeling better now.

For things like that, if I think it's psychosomatic , I tend to find I need to do something that is engrossing in the moment and preferably also involves physical movement - meeting a friend for a swim or a walk or similar.

Congratulations on getting through your event!

Will be taking jab 4 of 2.5 later this morning.

Under 1 kilo down. So disappointed. Curbed appetite, exercising despite ongoing fatigue, drinking more water...I honestly don't know what more I could have done better.

Am going to try to squeeze more of the fifth dose out before going onto 5 next week (still to order). But I'm questioning whether or not to keep going after that as it'll be a costly mistake if it doesn't improve.

Also (TMI, gross description ahead), horrible potential side effect yesterday. Leaky and sore belly button, think it was a mixture of blood and pus. Some digging online tells me it may be a related yeast infection because of the drop in blood sugar, so that's something else I have to tackle. I have some oregano oil capsules which are supposed to help with this. Also feeling like a UTI is on the way too.

Well done everyone, send some luck my way. I need it 😄

Remember 2.5mg is not meant to have any effect as it is not a therapeutic dose. Any effects are a bonus!
its just to start is getting used to the drug in our systems and hopefully lessen any horrible side effects.

knackeredcat · 01/07/2024 08:50

Here's hoping, @Beeble21. Maybe it will take until around 7.5 or more before I see anything. Some posters on the Mounjaro UK subreddit seem to have been a bit like me - nothing until the higher doses, then it comes off. I do hope so as I'm hoping to be a bit more streamlined by around late September for a last minute holiday 🙏

Beeble21 · 01/07/2024 09:08

@knackeredcat It will happen x

Callmejudith · 01/07/2024 10:11

@knackeredcat it will happen, but I am a bit concerned about your belly button - that doesn't sound right at all. I think I would check with a doctor.

Thanks so much for everyone sharing, this is so helpful to hear. Think I am going to start Mounjaro 🙈!! Posting on here will help. Just working out which provider is best with a bit of support but not mega £££

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 09/09/2024 12:49

@bethlondon hi, you seem to have posted on one of our (almost) full June threads which is possibly why no one has responded as we are normally a chatty bunch 😁

If you want a more personal touch, I would suggest looking at Oushk as the pharmacist is very proactive. They have a support group on Facebook that anyone can join. I am in it but do not use them!

I have just moved from one of the £££ full subscription pharmacies with coaching etc to another that is cheaper as I am not using all of the services so it seems silly to pay.
