I don’t think the fatigue is due to calorie deficit or running on empty. The day after my first ever injection was my worst day for fatigue, I literally stayed in bed all day and dozed on and off. Now I find that the first day after injection each week is the day I feel super tired, then it wears off as the days go on.

lurkylurk · 15/05/2024 00:40

The fatigue could be hormonal, the same effect as when you’ve just eaten a big roast dinner and want to nap!

As far as your fooled body is concerned that is what’s happened.

lastapache · 15/05/2024 06:56

I’ve done a bit of googling and as far as I can tell the scientists don’t know why semaglutide causes tiredness. It came up in the trials as a side effect in 11% of people. I do think it’s more widespread than that - especially the day after injection.

i can only surmise that your body initially fights this “invader” into your body until it gets duped and accepts it as natural GLP-1. But that’s just a guess. And it wouldn’t explain chronic fatigue all week long.

PrimalLass · 15/05/2024 09:07

I had huge tiredness and coldness the week I went up to 0.5.

AccidentallyFellAmongBiscuits · 15/05/2024 09:10

I'm not very good at record keeping but perhaps I should keep tabs on my level of fatigue for a couple of weeks to see how it relates to the time of injection.

Coldness, yes. It seems to come and go so I have days of putting jumpers on and off ridiculously often.

anoldcharter · 15/05/2024 09:47

tiredness / fatigue has been a huge side effect for me although worse in the first 2 months I'd say, I could literally have fallen asleep by 6pm. Once I moved onto 1mg I was still tired, but nausea became the worst side effect then. I am often cold too, but put that down to calorie deficit.

1lb off for me today taking me to 28lbs in total since Jan 3rd 😀- its my birthday today so going to enjoy some cake (made by my DH's fair hands) and fizz later (if I can, usually can't get past 1 glass)

Hope everyone has a good day 😀

AhBiscuits · 15/05/2024 12:10

Happy Birthday 🎂 @anoldcharter
And congratulations to getting to 2 stone lost. That's a fantastic achievement.

The coldness is to do with how it affects the hypothalamus, so the tiredness could well be for the same reason as the hypothalamus also regulates the bodies circadian rhythms.

jay55 · 16/05/2024 07:12

Two stone is a great birthday gift, congrats!

starlilly88 · 16/05/2024 10:31

The jump from 0.5 to 0.75 has been quite big for me, I'm thankful I didn't go to 1.0. The fatigue is wearing off but food is generally not agreeing with me! So maybe back down to 0.5 next week.

Is there a benefit to moving up doses - will it help increase weight loss? Or is it just a case of moving up if you feel it's not working anymore? 0.5 was working ok although rumbly tummies sometimes so thought a higher dose would help with that

DontLookBakk · 16/05/2024 11:34

@starlilly88 - I struggled going up to 1.0 and so have been slowly titrating up from 0.5. I found that the week I had the 1.0 dose my blood pressure dropped so low that I was very prone to fainting but also was very nauseous.
The first couple of weeks I went back down and stayed with 0.5 and then have done 0.6 and 0.7. Tonight I’ll go up to 0.8 with the plan to get to 1.0 in a couple of weeks. I found that staying on 0.5 I got too much food noise but equally knew my body couldn’t tolerate moving straight up to 1.0 hence going up slowly. If/when I get food noise on 1.0 then I might think of increasing but again would probably only go up slowly to make sure my body can tolerate it and importantly that my blood pressure remains stable.
I’ve been on Wegovy since January and am a slow loser but combined with doing SW for a month in December I have lost 3stone 2lbs which I’m thrilled about but it’s losing the food noise (I think) that helps me the most.

starlilly88 · 16/05/2024 11:44

@DontLookBakk thanks, that sounds like a sensible plan. Maybe I will try 0.6 and gradually increase. I'm clearly never going to get to the heady heights of 2.4!

The food noise is the most important part. I can control the hunger pangs, and try and eat healthier. But it's the constant food thoughts that have made me fail in the past. So I really want to ensure that does not come back yet

starlilly88 · 16/05/2024 11:46

@DontLookBakk by the way, 3 stone since December/January is amazing. You should be very proud of your efforts. I'm on 1lb short of 2 stone since January with at least another stone to go. 1.5 stone ideally, to get a buffer

UnicornAndSparkles · 16/05/2024 12:06

I've been shopping around for discount codes and a friend said she was using Voy and gave me a code giving me 50% off. Ordered on Sunday, sent a screenshot of my previous prescription details and it was sent out the next day. Really impressed with the service and the timeliness of the communications and was easy to get the dose I need (1mg) having send a quick message evidencing my previous (0.5) dose. I've now got three referral codes if anyone would like 50% off? Full disclosure, I obviously get a discount too! Took my total down to £114.50 so I presume the code would do the same for anyone else.

I began Wegovy in Feb and am now only 10lbs to my target weight. I am taking 1.7mg but am thinking of stopping it now and going alone for the final weight loss.

Anyone else taken this approach?

PrimalLass · 16/05/2024 13:58

@starlilly88 I was meant to go from 0.5 to 1.0 yesterday but plan to count clicks and stay at 0.5. I will do it today but it will be a PITA and I'll end up with too much or not enough...

There's absolutely no need to increase unless you need to. It's best to stay on the lowest effective dose. I never went above 1mg.

Happy birthday for yesterday @anoldcharter , hope you had a great day.
Well done to all you guys, I find reading your stories so helpful. I have just started my 3rd week, I'm 6lb down and just looking to buy my next pen. So far, have only had one day where I was extremely tired, other than that I've been okay.

Does anyone have any current discount codes for 0.5 pens please? Can't seem to get any of the codes to work.

All the best everyone,

I'm only about 6lbs from goal and have gradually been reducing my dose. I'm on 0.25 currently and plan to take two more doses of that and then I'm done. I'll be going it alone.
I think weaning yourself off is the best approach so it's less of a shock.

Week 26
SW: 13st 7.8
CW: 10st 10.2
GW: 10st 5
Lost: 39.6lbs
To go: 5.2lbs

That's 6 months on Wegovy. I've lost 1.2lbs this week for the 3rd week in a row. I'll take it. The excess of the weekend made no difference in the end. I've noticed a difference from the reduced dose this week. When it gets to mealtimes I am now quite hungry, whereas I wasn't before. I'm still not tempted to snack and still satisfied with a small amount. I'm enjoying my food more, it's quite nice.

Can I ask, does it mess with periods? I have got mine 8 days early. It might just be my age!

lastapache · 17/05/2024 09:51

I got mine three days early Boatgirl - and I've been a 28 day cycle girl since I was 12. You could have set your watch by me.

Now, I'm not a doctor, but I know GLP1 affects your hypothalamus in your brain. The hypothalamus controls how hungry or full you are, how hot or cold you are, your breathing, your mood, and yes - your periods. I guess this medication makes the hypothalamus make more of the hunger blockers and more of the fullness hormones, and that might have an affect on the other hormones it's supposed to be making. Hence the late or early periods. I expect that would even out over time, as I know my doctor said that your body finds a balance after six-ish months. Your hunger does return, even when you stay on the medication, and that makes your eat more (but weirdly, your body does not put on weight). So if the hunger hormones even out, I expect the other ones do too.

I did too last month and now it has disappeared altogether. I am 50 though.

There's a connection with fat loss and estrogen (which is stored in the fat) so I think that can cause menstrual issues too.
