My prescription arrived this morning. 😬
Planning to start tomorrow.

Hi All, mind if I join the thread?

A bit of background … had a sleeve in July ‘20, lost 4.5st but then just stopped losing weight. About 18 months go, started taking rybelsus and have lost another 1.5st but, again, weight loss has stalled.

So, I’ve just bought 3 month supply of 1mg wegovy pens and plan to inject for the first time tomorrow. I recognise I’m jumping in at a higher dose but I’ve been taking daily rybelsus 14’s so I think this is the right point to transfer at (or that’s what the internet seems to tell me anyway).

I want to lose another 1.5st before moving to working on maintaining.

Any hints or tips very gratefully received especially from those who have also made the jump across from rybelsus tablets …

Hi guys,

Sounds like lots of you are having great success and it sounds like something I might do (after lots of research into it etc ) and have a few questions:

  1. What happens when you get to maintenance weight ...are you on the drugs for life? Or do people maintain without them?
  1. Had anyone had any really bad side effects?
  1. If you exercise alongside how do you make sure you have enough fuel if you don't have an appetite (only wondering as I'm currently training for a marathon - although after this probs won't ever go above a half)

Thanks in advance

Foostit · 07/04/2024 14:46

@DreamingofGinoclock
I was about to post these exact questions!

I have taken my first injection this morning, but of an upset stomach but otherwise fine so far.

Radish12 · 08/04/2024 08:37

Happy Monday, welcome to all the newbies - best of luck! In response to the questions above @DreamingofGinoclock, for me:

  1. I plan to wean myself off if I can (if I can afford it), and am hoping that I will more or less maintain naturally as long as I keep up my active lifestyle. I used to be able to maintain a steady weight easily but got into a bit of a stress/binge cycle over the last ten years. I'm out of the stress now and have used the drug as a helping hand to get the extra weight off, but once it's off I'm hopeful I should be able to maintain with little effort 🤞

  2. Some bearable nausea for a day or two when I up my dose, and normally a bit of heightened anxiety on injection days but it's all worth it for me.

  3. It's strange - I no longer feel hungry or rumbly at all, and I don't get that light-headed fainty feeling day-to-day that normally scuppers diets. It really is as though my body is using stored fat for fuel without complaining about it. That said, I have felt a bit weak a couple of times at the gym after work (before dinner) if I've just had a light salad for lunch, so I try to prepare for this and remember to have a banana or something beforehand.

However, marathon training is a whole different animal. When is the race? I think if I were you I'd put off using anything like this until afterwards - aside from the nutrition and fuelling, you don't know how it will affect you - diarrhoea and vomiting and fatigue are all very common side effects. For long runs like that you want as few uncertain factors as possible.

I wouldn't start until after the marathon. Good luck with that, what an achievement.

DreamingofGinoclock · 08/04/2024 10:30

Hi thanks @Radish12 and @witte !

Oh I definitely wouldn't look to start till after the marathon (it's on 21st April eek ) ... I am just thinking ahead as I know I want to carry on running....just not as far haha

@Achieveanything
Well done! That’s amazing! 🎉
Day 2 and I’m feeling ok just not as hungry as I usually am. Still able to eat my calorie counted breakfast and lunch.

Achieveanything · 08/04/2024 16:35

@Foostit thank you!
Good luck with the start of your journey 🍀

Oldandcobwebby · 08/04/2024 17:14

Your disappearing act is going fantastically, @Achieveanything . Well done!

Welcome to the losers' club, @Foostit! Keep counting those calories and glugging that water! I think calorie counting is essential, because must be the only real way to keep control of your weight once you are at your target and get off this incredible drug. I've found that posting regular updates here helps me keep mentally on track, too. Good luck in your downwards journey!

Couperi · 08/04/2024 19:53

Hi all, have any of you had really slow loss? I've used it for 5 weeks, 4 on 0.25 and 1 on 0.5 and have only lost 4.25lbs!
I've really suffered badly with nausea, severe vomiting and bad constipation. So much so I'm contemplating chucking the rest of my 0.5 pen.
Everyone else seems to have such good losses, I feel I'm suffering the effects for no reward. I previously tried Saxenda and had the same issue.

55Sainz · 08/04/2024 23:46

Week 3 injection done. 5.1lbs down in total.

Had a small Chinese takeaway on Saturday and woke up at 7am Sunday morning thinking I was going to be sick - my mouth was filling up fast with saliva :(. Fine since then until tonight, had a small handful of chocolate orange mini eggs and thinking it's indigestion as got sharp pains under my ribs on right side! Ended up coming to bed and hoping it's just wind or something!

Hi

Quick question - I ordered my Wegovy from Pharmacy2U last Monday but it has only been delivered today, so it's been stuck in the Royal Mail postal system unrefrigerated for a week - will it still be ok to use?

I took my first dose today so wondering.

Yes fine, it says on the instructions in can be out the fridge for 28 days. But also was it actually dispatched last week?

Skeldale · 09/04/2024 19:49

It was despatched on 3rd and received today. Hopefully it's all ok. 🤞🏻

You're very unlucky. I just checked and I ordered from pharmacy2u on 1st, and it was delivered 3rd!

In all honesty has anyone slightly exaggerated their BMI to qualify?

No. Personally I don't think it's worth taking if you've not got lots to lose give the side effects and time it can take to work

Alice2535 · 10/04/2024 04:21

Lots have I think, someone a few weeks ago posted that they only wanted to lose a stone.

I wouldn't have an issue exaggerating a bit if I was borderline but I've tried every other diet known to man.

My bmi is okay now but I'm still on it as I'm not at my target yet.

Alice2535 · 10/04/2024 04:21

No, but when my DH researched it, he only saw BMI of over 30 to qualify and got on at me for it. What he didn't read (and this was discussed when I had a consultation) is that I have a BMI of 27.3 and I have PCOS, so I fall under that eligibility bracket.

LadyWithLapdog · 10/04/2024 14:17

My BMI was lower as well but I have high blood pressure, so I qualified. The aim was to lose 1 stone and I’ll stop after this week (4x0.25 and 4x0.5).

I’m the same size clothes, they just fit better 🤨

You need to cut stuff like this out or it will make you sick as it's affecting your blood sugar levels. Try and cut down on sugar and the nausea will ease.

2.5lb loss this week and I'm 12st 13 and 3/4! I only work in half pounds though and always round up so I'm recording it as 13st but still, it was REALLY nice to see that 12 🤗

Ah the change in “stone number” is always a great boost! Well done 👏👏
