Morning all,
essentially at the moment this seems to be a week where it gets colder through the week. In the first half at least is seems predominantly dry with light snow showers down the eastern side on and off. Too far to look at the end of the week with any detail but hints I think of s potentially snowy weekend. I think this is a week to keep a closer eye on the forecasts as we have seen this winter sometimes things can develop quite quickly.

Tis bitter here too. Small flakes of snow dancing about, but no ground cover. DH left before 6.00am to attempt appointments in Kent. He hasn't returned home yet, so hopefully he will has managed to survive the snowy conditions.

The metoffice have put advisories out for Wednesday as well now. Looking at the weather forums though, there seems to be some debate as to whether any of this snow will actually happen for the areas covered by these. I get the impression Scotland and the 'high up' areas of England will get snow but at low-levels, it'll be sleet/rain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/02/2010 20:20

well spotted seems they have removed the southern most parts of the area from the advisories too.
I think they may well be right, just horrid wet sleet bleughy yucky stuff.

you know something, I really think that if we aren't going to get any more decent snow then it ought to hurry up and be spring. I am rather fed up of being cold all the time.

Oh, I agree! I wish it would decide whether it'll snow or get on with spring! The garden is calling to me, I want to get out in the greenhouse and start planting seeds (and hopefully start getting it ready for a hot summer!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/02/2010 11:04

Miserable mix of heavy rain and snow here. I want to do garden stuff too have my broad beans ready to plant.
I do have caulis, potatoes and chillis on the windowsill hopefully getting going. Bit of a start I suppose. One thing I have done is cover the veggie plot with polythene to try and get the soil to warm up a bit if we get any sun.

advisories in completely different place now for tuesday wednesday

What is going on with the Met Office advisories??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/02/2010 16:22

I think they are really struggling with tuesdays set up tbh. For instance locally for wednesday they are predicting heavy snow and 6C. odd.

I think its going to be a situation where the press al start berating them cos either somewhere will get ridiculous amounts and people will get stranded over tuesday night or it will rain and there'll not be a flake!

Going by what they're saying on the weather forums, I think it's to do with weather systems 'not playing ball' at the moment, so it's difficult for the weather forecasters to interpret what's going to happen and how many areas are going to have snow. In the words of someone on one of them, it's a 'Forecasters nightmare potentially this week!'

petunia · 15/02/2010 11:38

And the advisories have changed again! Now has us with a possibility of snow on Wednesday. All good fun!

Marne · 16/02/2010 12:33

I want snow in the south west , we havn't had as much as we had last year, i'm still waiting to build a snowman.
