Morning all,
essentially at the moment this seems to be a week where it gets colder through the week. In the first half at least is seems predominantly dry with light snow showers down the eastern side on and off. Too far to look at the end of the week with any detail but hints I think of s potentially snowy weekend. I think this is a week to keep a closer eye on the forecasts as we have seen this winter sometimes things can develop quite quickly.

Oh,heavy snowstorm right now in Leicestershire. It's sttling too.

mankyscotslass · 10/02/2010 09:44

It's trying here but not cming to anything more than light flakes dancing in the wind!

FuriousGeorge · 10/02/2010 09:48

Blizzard conditions now.I don't know whether to go out or not.The minute I do,you can bet the school will ring to say they are sending them home.

mankyscotslass · 10/02/2010 10:07

DH says heavy snow in Slough at the moment.

moodlum · 10/02/2010 10:08

How exciting that we have a new weather topic

NoahAndTheWhale · 10/02/2010 10:10

It snowed suddenly in Bedfordshire. One minute nothing and then it was settling on the road. Went away pretty quickly though.

petunia · 10/02/2010 10:37

We've got nothing here! We've had a few flakes blowing about (looked very pretty with the sun on them during the school run!) and we have the odd threatening dark cloud coming from the direction of FG's part of the county but apart from that, nuffink!

moodlum · 10/02/2010 10:45

Its like a BLIZZARD here in Warwickshire. 'citing!

mankyscotslass · 10/02/2010 13:09

Just having a really heavy snow storm here, started about 1245, still going and lying. The flakes are back to being smaller now though and the sky is lightening. So far it's about 1cm deep.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2010 14:01

Far se under flash warnings for heavy snow out at moment have just got in so yet to look at models.

OP posts:
Umami · 10/02/2010 15:26

Far se here, nasty windy fine snow at the moment, almost more like hail, and settling fast. Horrible. Much prefer big floaty gentle flakes!

Umami · 10/02/2010 15:28

Thickening as we speak, and settling fast!

MegGriffin · 10/02/2010 15:43

Are you in Kent Umami?

PestoSnowMonster · 10/02/2010 15:55

It has been snowing here (outskirts of Brighton) on and off all day. Not very substantial flakes though, and not enough to settle yet either.

Umami · 10/02/2010 15:57

Yes Meg, E Kent. You too?

Can't make up its mind whether to be snowing or bright and sunny at the moment.

petunia · 10/02/2010 16:15

Just had a real blizzard while on the school run, really big flakes and settled fairly quickly! Temperature went from 2C as I left the car to pick up DDs and 15 minutes later when I got back, it was -1!

See the metoffice have just extended their weather warning a bit, to cover Norfolk/Suffolk.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2010 18:15

I think they have extended them even further...
whole eastern side of England gosh. these things change quickly sometimes.

Lots of showers of graupel here today (otherwise known as snow pellets) looks like a bean bag exploded everywhere! (but obv finer than bean bag pellets)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2010 18:17

looking closer, lots of the warnings are for widespread icy roads.

Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 18:26

It has been snowing all day here, well since about 10 I think. Very hard and very windy too, it was quite sudden showers and fairly vicious and squally.

You couldn't look into it or see where you were walking at times! Good coverage and then roads melting during the day...but garden still icily white.

I wonder what it will do tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2010 18:45

I think much of the same. brrrrrrr February is a cruel month!

OP posts:
mankyscotslass · 10/02/2010 20:27

Tis baltic here, but no more snow, and what fell earlier only lasted where there was shade.

So what might next week bring for Mannchester?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2010 22:10

hard to tell for certain but it could be in the firing line for a good amount of snow Monday or perhaps tuesday. Looks like a trough will develop bringing snow to parts of the north extending I think into the midlands (and maybe futher south????)

Flightattendant · 11/02/2010 07:21

just to update if anyoneis interested, we have had a decent four inches overnight...it's like a big soft blanket out there.
Sadly we will now have to get to school on foot, and I am not excited about that.
My friend has his Phd Viva today, hope he can get to Uni!

Flightattendant · 11/02/2010 07:21

east Kent btw.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2010 09:44

Cool FA the warnings were quite accurate then?

Cold and dry with a biting wind here this am.

Next week is now looking really really hard to call. Horrid marginal conditions again with a warm sector showing I think early next week. A mix of rain sleet and snow. horrid. Lets hope it goes one way or the other!
