Beating the Chun Rub! Help!

*Edit - Title should say CHUB RUB not Chun Rub 🙄

Ladies (and others whose thighs chafe when not separated by winter clothing!)

So, the weather is HOT and I've brought out the summer dresses in a (mostly futile) attempt to stay cool. The issue is that my thighs are used to being separated by a layer of denim on each side and have no idea how to interact with grace when it's been removed. The friction, sticking together (even when I'm walking, making me put in a weird Igor-worthy stride every few steps), and sweatiness caused by the whole situation is infuriating and actually quite painful. As I type this, I'm sitting with a frozen hot water bottle between my legs to reduce the redness and stinging sensation.

What do you similarly affected folk do to avoid/mitigate/stop this happening altogether?! Please help!

Cut off old tights do the job for me. Thin so not hot.

housemaus · 30/06/2025 23:16

I've tried every cream, roll-on, powder on the market I think and nothing has ever worked for more than 15 minutes - the only thing that helps is the Snag shorts (or similar, I have a Primark pair that are the same tights-like material rather than proper cycling short stuff that do the job).

Orange202 · 30/06/2025 23:18

I have the MandS version of chub run shorts, no problems with them, I have them on all summer.

baffledpuzzledandconfused · 30/06/2025 23:30

Nivea dry comfort cream. Total game changer. Didn’t need chub rub shorts on holiday this year

JFDIYOLO · 01/07/2025 00:15

Lying here tonight feeling very sting-y after unexpectedly having to do a half hour walk earlier in a skirt and top ... Unfortunately the CR was off the charts.

Be careful with anything with talc; there's an ovarian cancer scare linked to it.

IndigoRoo · 01/07/2025 00:16

I'm in Canada, but swear by Knix Leakproof Thigh Saver shorts. No need for additional undies, they stay cool all day ... I sleep in them too. I am a UK 16/18 and wear a L ... no digging in at the waist or the thigh. They are pricey, but they last and make a world of difference.

Primark chub rub undershorts. Much more comfortable and less sweaty feeling than wearing just knickers

olivelime · 01/07/2025 00:32

I've used a cream called Chub Rub anti-chaffing, you can buy on amazon. It works a dream.

Teaseall · 01/07/2025 00:51

My go to is Lanacane anti-chafing gel, available in Superdrug, and my thighs are …. sturdy.

I use chub rub shorts from snag. Other sellers are out there.

There is liquid talc which works well too

Ditto.

sandgrown · 01/07/2025 01:35

Asda Little Angels liquid talc is safe for babies so I guess it’s ok and it’s great for chub rub. I believe talc no longer has the ingredient that was linked to ovarian cancer

FeistyCat · 01/07/2025 05:04

Talcum powder applied liberally to the inside of your legs when the chafe happens. You need to apply it regularly though as the sweat often uses it up, if that makes sense.

Chub rub shorts from snag tights are amazing. They are so breathable but stop the horrible thigh chafe.

Same. I'm 27 weeks pregnant now.and the biggest ones fit over bump which is brilliant.

FeistyCat · 01/07/2025 05:15

The only other thing to relieve it is applying vaseline over your inner legs/the part where it chafes, but it gets really slimy and greasy.

Imupforthat · 01/07/2025 05:38

I have these. They’ve shot up in price (and colour!) since I bought them last year but they are so comfortable. I’ve worn them them on holiday in 40+ temperatures and they never get hot or scratchy. Plus at home you can just pull your sundress off and sit in them and a bra when it gets too hot (cos I’m dead classy like that)

Liquid talc. I use little angels from the baby section at asda.

SaltAndRust · 01/07/2025 07:00

All the shorts are way too hot for me; I've tried every brand but personally it ruins wearing a cool floaty dress for me. So I use Lanacane, carry it in my handbag and reapply if needed. It works perfectly and is much more comfortable. However, if you have sore skin from previous chafing you will need to wear shorts until it's healed. From my extensive survey, I like the Big Bloomers ones best. Snag ones are made of tights material and I find them unbelievably sweaty and heavy to wear.

I used mega babe thigh rescue for running - name is cringe but it works really well.

I bought this too. Got it from Boots online:
Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Anti-Friction Stick 60g
It's great no couldn't cope with the big pants as it's too hot.

Koinophobia · 01/07/2025 08:25

Wirapa, who do the comfiest pants known to female kind, do a shorts version. I have swapped out my snag chub rub shorts for these. Cotton and don't require knickers under so saving a layer.

Tried several, but this has been a total game changer for me. I only have to apply it once a day.

Snag chub rub shorts 100%

Molecule · 01/07/2025 08:40

I can confirm the Sloggi ones are the best. I’ve tried many of the ones mentioned here, but Sloggi are the most comfortable, wash well, and are breathable (100% cotton). I’ve worn mine in Zanzibar where it’s both hot and humid, and they were great. Yes they do seem expensive initially but worth every penny.

It really does work well. Managed to cope with a very hot run this morning with a liberal application.
