Beating the Chun Rub! Help!

*Edit - Title should say CHUB RUB not Chun Rub 🙄

Ladies (and others whose thighs chafe when not separated by winter clothing!)

So, the weather is HOT and I've brought out the summer dresses in a (mostly futile) attempt to stay cool. The issue is that my thighs are used to being separated by a layer of denim on each side and have no idea how to interact with grace when it's been removed. The friction, sticking together (even when I'm walking, making me put in a weird Igor-worthy stride every few steps), and sweatiness caused by the whole situation is infuriating and actually quite painful. As I type this, I'm sitting with a frozen hot water bottle between my legs to reduce the redness and stinging sensation.

What do you similarly affected folk do to avoid/mitigate/stop this happening altogether?! Please help!

Primark cycling shorts here too - with no undies 🫣

RedBeech · 30/06/2025 21:59

Primark cropped cotton cycling shorts instead of pants. They come to mid thigh. Not hot and zero chub rub.

LizaRadleywasonthespectrum · 30/06/2025 22:03

Dove solid deodorant applied to both sides. Used it for years. Zero chaffing. Zero soreness. Zero sweating. Costs £2.40 at Tesco. Beat that!

MrsSethGecko · 30/06/2025 22:05

I usually wear Primark under shorts but they're all in the wash today so I tried Gillette Sport Triumph gel antiperspirant (as that's all I have in) along my groin and under-bumcheek area. (Sorry.)
Amazing. No chub rub at all. I didn't put any on my actual thighs as I hate the feel of anything catching or damp on them but it worked fabulously.
Still dry at 22.05 and I put it on at 8.20 this morning.

The issue with snag is, they’ve gone from inclusive to kink focus. They do loads of photo shoots with women dressed as toddlers, men in drag, very sexual photos of very overweight women. I’m a very overweight woman. I find their style very objectifying of the larger women. I would love to see a bloke wearing tights because they are practical as an extra layer under trousers. A man in fishnets and fuck me stilletos, not so much.

I loved their stuff, their style, their colours- all the skin tones for nude tights- it always awesome! But they gradually jumped the shark.

I have spent all today in a dress, on a sweating beach and my thighs feel great for the first time ever. I can’t bear shorts under dresses, the thought of it just makes me feel too hot. I bought and used Megababe anti chafe balm and it is a life saver, can’t wait to take it on holiday with me

AmateurNoun · 30/06/2025 22:13

These are great. They can be worn instead of pants and never make me too hot

I would avoid Snag as they push weird fetish stuff and have labelled women (including domestic violence victims) as bullies for criticising Snag for selling patches that say "Choke Me".

All anti chafing shorts

These Slip Shorts are the ultimate solution for skirts and dresses. They're soft, lightweight and breathable – you'll barely know you've got them on. Our Anti Chafing Knickers have been specifically designed to stop chafing thighs and chub rub. The ide...

Big bloomer company. They keep
you a degree cooker under dresses and are better than snag. Wash them without softener to keep them moisture wicking.

Morningmorning · 30/06/2025 22:17

Better tights anti chafing shorts are better than Snag ones IMO. And no issue with Snag policies.

Fifthtimelucky · 30/06/2025 22:19

I saw Body Glide recommended here a few years ago and have been using it ever since. It’s brilliant stuff.

Cycling shorts or specific chub rub ones. I have cycling shorts from Sainsburys, cotton ones from Amazon and chub rub/period multi purpose shorts from modibodi

MerylSqueak · 30/06/2025 22:23

I put my knicks on then generously spray a bomb proof deodorant like Mitchum. I haven't had it fail yet.

minnienono · 30/06/2025 22:23

Oh and if you do get any stinging sudocreme is the best option to heal

oustedbymymate · 30/06/2025 22:24

Snag shorts are your friend here

Bonzoman · 30/06/2025 22:24

HeddaGarbled · 30/06/2025 22:30

Linen trousers. I’ll never wear a dress in hot weather again.

PractisingMyTelekenipsis · 30/06/2025 22:30

I love my snag chub rubs and popsy underpops. I think the Popsy ones might be higher denier, but still not hot.

For others who use them how do I stop them fading? Or maybe the colours run from other things? Do i need to do a separate chub run wash? Doesn't seem very eco friendly!

I also dont have an issue with Snag marketing, and despite shopping on there a lot very rarely see the pictures it's apparently full of. Yes there are pictures of larger ladies, but I'm a larger lady so nice to see things that actually fit.

WTDress · 30/06/2025 22:36

For a budget friendly option, if you have any tights you are throwing away as they are laddered or holes in the toes then chop them down into shorts.

Arlingtonchase · 30/06/2025 22:38

Cut down some old tights.

stripeymonster · 30/06/2025 22:56

Any roll on deodorant will do. Apply generously to inside of legs. Allow time to dry. Gives all day protection. Much cooler than shorts.

socks1107 · 30/06/2025 22:58

Sure roll on deodorant or snag chub rubs. I’ve ditched the chub rubs this year in favour of deodorant

Djdoksvc · 30/06/2025 22:58

Sloggi long leg knickers, they are cottony and not hot

FancyRedRobin · 30/06/2025 23:01

I'm a one woman clinical trial of these things and I've got to say that Snag are the best I've tried. Very cool, not sweaty. Don't slip or move.
