The start of meteorological Summer 2025 (1st June)

This weekend sees the start of meteorological summer.
Netweather haven't got their summer forecast yet but have some thoughts here on what sort of summer we might expect.

TheWeatherOutlook published their summer forecast a few weeks ago.

(I think that although we've had a dry spring, it'll be a 'mixed' summer of dry/warm (maybe hot days), mixed in with wet days. So we'll see......)

I've a fan on me now in NW Wales, son in Yorkshire is going to cook in his flat he says.

Wet sheet across the window is supposed to help. I've had a tepid shower at night and gone to bed wet when abroad in the past.

Not getting crazy hot here in NW England, but my top cooling tip is putting my head under the tap and running cold water over the base of my skull. If that’s not feasible running wrists under the cold tap will cool you but takes longer.

I find wetting my head and hair gives relief.

I've found a fan with a misting feature how cool is that.

I think it was about 28 here today

I spent the evening in the pub garden, which was lovely. But daytime in the flat was pretty fierce. I got home and opened the windows very wide. So that's been for about an hour and it's 25 in here. That's as cool as it will get tonight I think.

Soo windy up here, would be beautiful and warm if not for the constant wind

Hot weather keeps being extended on the forecast. No idea how accurate it is.

Muggy here (NW) just lots of rain but hot and uncomfortable

Lots of thunderstorms around Portugal and Spain, concerns of forest fires. It's blooming hot there.

Been warm with cloud cover here all day. Yesterday's breeze gone.

DS has just gone to Spain. I‘m a bit worried about him! So hot over there. Though I guess they are more used to it and the buildings are designed for it.

I was in an air-conditioned bar for most of lunchtime today. It made such a difference to how I felt when I got home. I didn't take a cardigan or a jacket with me, but honestly, I could've used one. So that was really nice.

Got home and it was baking, but I didn't mind because I've had a chance to cool off.

however, the heat is creeping up. I think it's meant to be about 28 by 10am tomorrow - so that makes sense.

it seems much more muggy outside now whereas at 5 pm when I got home there was a nice breeze.

there was a lady on the bus wearing a summer outfit and a furry hat!

The spaniel was hogging the fan last night. Sat in front of it ears lifting in the breeze.

It’s 40 degrees where he is in Spain. But there’s a pool and hopefully he’ll be sensible!

My dog is also hogging the fan but I do feel for him. Very early 6am walk for us. And he had a dip in the river which was nice - I was tempted to join him!

Cool here today completely overcast. Watching Wimbledon hard to believe the difference in temperatures.

It’s about 32 degrees here in the SE. Very oppressive with no air.
Looking forward to it cooling down to more manageable temperatures.

Grey humid and still warm here 8n Manchester. Not as hot as yesterday but still unpleasant with the humidity

This afternoon in the se felt awful. I really struggled mid afternoon. Now a lovely breeze has picked up and it’s pleasant sat outside

Lordy, what a difference between the North and the South today (by North, I mean NE coast of England) Usually, there's only about 5 or 6 degrees difference in the 300 miles or so between the two, not 18 degrees difference!

It's been about 14 degrees here most of the day with a lovely breeze and some light rain Sending much love to all of you struggling with high temps tonight.

I‘m glad you just said that! Glanced outside and realised - finally a breeze. House is like an oven though. Sitting in the garden!
