Yep, another named storm. Named storm number 10. Primarily an Ireland/Northern Ireland, Scotland, north Wales and northern England affair and does not look as severe as Isha.

Named by Met Éireann. Their warning starts tomorrow night.

The Met Office yellow warning for the northern half of Britain kicks in at 4pm tomorrow. I think it's possible amber warnings may be issued within that area for the early hours of Wednesday. We shall see.

Storm Jocelyn.

Thanks OYBBK.

I have a question if I may. This is being called the 10th named storm. But Pia, which wasn't named by us, but, I think, by Denmark isn't counted. Why aren't the Met Office including Pia? It caused a lot of damage/disruption near here.

Very windy here in South Wales.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 23/01/2024 19:00

Very wild now in Co. Cork. Fierce windy. Even internal doors are rattling.

Bimblesalong · 23/01/2024 19:12

It is horrendous out there (Cheshire), feels and sounds worse than Isha. Maybe it’s the wind direction. Scary being outside - have retreated to the sofa!

MyNameIsJocelyn · 23/01/2024 19:20

With a neal life name like Jocelyn, you don't see your own name very often unless it is specifically referring to you.

Today has been a strange day Grin

PopcornAndGummyBears · 23/01/2024 19:35

Wind has died down where I am compared to earlier this afternoon - not expecting it to last though - think I’ll be in for another noisy night. (Live 2min walk from coast)

On another note - I met the real life Jocelyn Bell Burnell last year when she was on a visit to the school I work in. Really lovely, unassuming woman.

Was thinking exactly the same, felt like the kitchen was shaking while I was making our food.

Desecratedcoconut · 23/01/2024 19:55

This is a lot less windy than Isha for us, at least it is right now. Which is just as well, because it's bin day tomorrow and plenty of people will wheel them out tonight on autopilot.

HuntingForChicken · 23/01/2024 19:58

East Cheshire here and it is blowing a gale, lights flickering, feels worse than the last storm.

PopcornAndGummyBears · 23/01/2024 20:06

Picked up again here now and the hail/rain is as loud as the wind. Might try and persuade the teens to head to bed with books so I can go and curl up under the covers now!

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 23/01/2024 20:36

East Cheshire/high Peak/Greater Manchester borders and tonight is worse than Sunday night was when we had an amber warming. Something went over in the garden just now yet nothing did on Sunday or Monday. Weather is weird.

Rowgtfc72 · 23/01/2024 20:48

East coast. Weather apps are telling me its windier than Sunday already.
Also forecasting 52mph gusts on my bike ride to work tomorrow. Could be interesting.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 23/01/2024 20:49

It seems pretty windy here now. Although 3 different weather apps say 3 different things. iPhone says 24mph bbc weather says 46mph reaching 60mph around 3pm and the met office one has 2 different numbers one smaller one bigger eg 28/50 nsw so I'm confused by which one to go by. Hopefully it won't reach 60mph and the rest of my roof stays intact.

PickAChew · 23/01/2024 20:49

We're in the lesser of the two yellow warning areas in Durham and I've moved away from my spot in the dining room because it sounded like the patio doors were going to come in. It's really shaking the house and the tall trees out the back are whipping around.

And next door needs to shut their bleeding gate properly.

PickAChew · 23/01/2024 20:50

@IBegYourBiggestPardon on met office, the lower number is the sustained speed and the higher number the gusts.

DementedPanda · 23/01/2024 20:57

Got tbh, north east here, wind is at 60, its hoying it down but we are used to it now 🙈 there's been a few roofs off, plenty of damage and fires. Bit tonight is very mild in comparison to the weekend.

MotherOfCatBoy · 23/01/2024 21:03

South Wales, we are not in a warning area and yet it’s fierce out there and sounds worse than Sunday/ Monday was. Scary wind, big gusts, whistling over the house. Don’t like it.

Dabralor · 23/01/2024 21:05

North Yorkshire on top of the moors here, it sounds awful!! Much more conscious of it than Isha so far.

Houseplanter · 23/01/2024 21:06

Midlands and SO much worse than Isha.

AuntieMarys · 23/01/2024 21:07

Lying in bed in Yorkshire and the wind has suddenly escalated. Scary.

ListenLinda · 23/01/2024 21:07

West Yorkshire (Bradford) sounds much worse than Isha.
properly howling here.

Lupin61 · 23/01/2024 21:07

My friend just flew from Glasgow to Birmingham and said the turbulence was extreme!
