Will the uk have a storm tonight after the hot weather?

I remember a couple of years back we had a huge storm in the night following the heatwave.

Just wondering if to prepare as I have cats!!

We had one this morning in Cornwall - thunder rumbling round for a good hour or more, then a brief rain then back to warm, dry and windy!

Already had thunder and rain here in South Wales this afternoon

There was thunder at 3 am this morning where I am. Followed by a short, sharp shower of rain.

The sky's looking ominous now too.

It's raining here now, fairly light though. South coast.

No rain forecast in my area at all. :(

Temp has just dropped below 37 here so I’m preparing for a storm.

I’m hoping the rain will fall heavy today. At least it will help with the current fires and help prevent more from happening.

My phone is predicting rain from 8ish here in Herts but the met office app isn't.

It's definitely going darker here now.. nothing like last night when it remained sunny until almost 10pm!

All the fields near to us are on fire, declared a critical incident, lost acres and acres of nature reserves, roads closed to try and tackle it.

No storms forecast and only a small chance of light showers tomorrow evening. It's desperate.

We've just a mini storm, rain and thunder here in Ayrshire. Suns out now and it's a glorious evening.

We're having one now in N Surrey! Don't think it'll last very long though.

We had about 30 seconds of rain at 7 o'clock in the East Midlands. It's now gone very still and humid. No rain predicted though.

Yes. It's gone from 40C here (C London) to very dark and moody

That's showing the yellow thunder warning more SE than NE ... east Anglia and midlands. maybe the predicted area changed.

Already had it around 3pm....totally unexpected. In fact the Met warning was issued after it started 😂😂 SW Scotland....

We had it forecast for earlier but it's disappeared, replaced by more sun and tomorrows rain has vanished now too! I do love a story though. There has been some on the west coast of Scotland so depends where you live

I'm in the west of Ireland and we had thunder, lightning and heavy rain this morning after a very hot day (for us) yesterday. It's been much cooler and fresher since.

I expect if we've had a storm here it's heading for the UK now.

Also some heading up in to the south

Same area as you - and hoping the forecast is wrong - we need rain !

I dread it because the last couple of years our basement has flooded at this time of year after torrential downfall
