Storm Ciara forecasts and reports

First met office warnings for the month are
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-02-03 for Scotland. Gusts up to 80mph (perhaps more in isolated spots) for many.

In general it looks like it could be quite a stormy month with a lot of potential showing from the 9th onwards. Might be worth looking at your fences in the south before then Wink

Directly under the flight path in s.w London at the moment, can see the planes wobbling trying to go into land!! Very windy here at the moment! DM has cancelled her lessons for today (driving instructor) due to the risk of debris flying about. Hibernation mode!

ScouseQueen · 09/02/2020 08:27

Sport now cancelled! Pouring coffee and staying in my PJs Brew

clunkyinthebackend · 09/02/2020 08:31

Oh bugger I really needed to go to ikea too.

Flipping jet stream getting in the way of my dining room decor!

Igmum · 09/02/2020 08:31

Manchester checking in. Lots of wind and rain here. Elderly cats determinedly asleep by the radiator. Teenage DD oblivious. Time for Netflix, laundry and a bit of tidying I reckon.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 09/02/2020 08:34

Very very windy in South Wales. Friend's fence has come down. Part of the motorway is shut. Trees in our garden look dangerously close to falling. In laws have a power cut 😬

Polkadotdelight · 09/02/2020 08:35

It's been blowing all night in West Wales and getting worse. We lost two fence panels before Christmas and can see that another has come down overnight. We agreed with the neighbours we would wait until spring to replace them but we may have none left by then! Am a bit concerned about our huge oak tree.

So sorry about your window xiong, I can't imagine that.

FreezerBird · 09/02/2020 08:39

West Wales coast here. Has been blowy overnight but not as bad as I expected.

Picking up now but with quite a lot of calmer gaps between the wild bits.

Loodally · 09/02/2020 08:44

Bronte country, West Yorkshire. Windy and rainy but not too bad currently.
We're still not leaving the house though. Pyjamas and board games for us today.

Words · 09/02/2020 08:47

Flood siren went off here. It's bad.

Growingboys · 09/02/2020 08:50

Very windy here in west London and envious of those of you in more coastal parts!

As a PP said, the planes are still coming in to Heathrow but I'm glad I'm not on them!

Love the sound of the wind whistling round the house.

peridito · 09/02/2020 08:50

Xiong that sounds dreadful ,I wonder if an emergency boarding up service ( like they have for shops ) might help ???

I'm in SE London and it's very gusty with calm bits in between . Our bedroom is a loft room with the headboard of our bed against a wall .The wall shudders in the gusts .Bit unnerving .

Howling in Lancashire. Garden and fields flooding. So much rain.

ListenLinda · 09/02/2020 08:51

@Loodally i’m about 20 mins from you and it is getting up a bit, sounds bad at the minute. You got all the rain yet?

Piggywaspushed · 09/02/2020 08:57

I am still massively procrastinating about going to London. It's not helpful that Thameslink says DO NOT Travel on their website and then puts trains on....

Piggywaspushed · 09/02/2020 08:59

One of which has now left my station 6 minutes early... why would you do that??

KatherineJaneway · 09/02/2020 09:00

@Piggywaspushed

What part of London are you travelling to?

WreckTangled · 09/02/2020 09:00

Piggy we're still going! Luckily we aren't getting the train though as they're all stopping at Guildford due to branches on the line

BatSegundo · 09/02/2020 09:01

Wow xiaoziong - that's a bit too exciting. Hope you manage to keep the weather out of your house.

Loodally · 09/02/2020 09:02

@ListenLinda I think some of the local roads are flooded, according to what I'm reading on Facebook, so we must have had heavy rain overnight.
Both wind and rain seem to be stepping up a bit now.

Piggywaspushed · 09/02/2020 09:03

Katherine to the 02 via West Hampstead. Trains running but haywire.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 09:04

Currently driving home. Well dh is. It's following a very typical pattern of these kinds of storms, where it's pretty quiet, then you get a big 'blob' of stormy weather with high wind and rain. It's easy to get lulled into a false sense of it's fine in the quiet bits.

We're in London for the weekend and booked on an 11.00 train home to Derbyshire via Manchester.

I really need to get home but we're prepared for a long journey. We'll stock up on food and drink at Euston in case we get stuck anywhere.

Will be keeping an eye on the trains as we go.

Stay safe everyone.

spicysausageroll · 09/02/2020 09:06

Someones car alarm has been going off constantly, think it might be the soundtrack for today!

MrsBartlet · 09/02/2020 09:06

Power cut here in Essex. A couple of trees have come down in our village and one of them has taken the power cables with it.
