Snow watch!

I know it will seem quite crackers to start this when the weekend has been so lovely, but we are starting to get some model consistency on GFS for the potential for snow Friday night into Saturday as a northerly plunge looks set to take place.

Primary risk areas are obviously for hillier parts of Scotland and also Wales, but higher ground in the south and south east including over dartmoor and down the east coast may also see some sleet or wet snow.

BiddyPop ~ Not much of a chance. It's looking more damp, drizzly and a chilly 7/8C. Sorry to disappoint your DH Grin

I agree with Gloria, very unlikely! How funny!

Heavy sleet here in East Surrey. We have a rooflight in the kitchen and it has a snow/sleet covering already!

Wow Titsywoo ~ that's a fairly good covering!

We're at a chilly 5.4C here (Leicester) and some of the showers we've had this morning have had a 'wintry' look to them.

gallicghoul · 20/11/2018 11:41

Weather has definitely turned to the chillier side in East Anglia. Some hail this morning too. Of course all the softy southerners think it's snow. Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2018 12:03

Excellent Titsy! That'll be a shock to some!

It's been and gone now, back to rain sadly. It's gotten so cold so quickly - even the dog who normally lives outside has made herself a little bed in the boiler cupboard to escape it Grin.

BiddyPop · 20/11/2018 12:41

Grin Thanks Ladies - I, at least, am happy to hear that!!

I like a bit of snow, but only when it suits for it to fall (and we've got the gear out of the storage unit - about a mile away!).

I might try and get there this weekend though, and stock up on logs for the stove at the same time (the dealer is in the same industrial estate).

ILikeyourHairyHands · 20/11/2018 15:18

Sleety rain has just turned to wet snow in High Peak.

gotmybigbootson · 20/11/2018 16:52

Snowing pretty hard now and DS's last day of school for a month (time for me to get ready for birthday tomorrow and Thanksgiving thurs and do a month's worth of phone calls) has just been called a half day. Arghhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Snow watch!
gotmybigbootson · 20/11/2018 16:52

That photo doesn't capture just how hard it's snowing lol!!

Titsywoo · 20/11/2018 17:23

Met office is showing heavy snowfall here at 10pm with an 80% certainty. If it does it won't settle but it seems awfully early in the year for snow!

DiveBombingSeagull · 20/11/2018 17:28

Snow forecast here Northants / Bucks / Beds border

gotmybigbootson · 20/11/2018 18:48

All shits and giggles until Thursday when it's -26!

Snow watch!
OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2018 20:57

I'd heard there was snow in the peak district.

Heavy sleet around 5.30pm on the school run in Ascot, of all places! The windshield was covered in slush. I think that's it for us for a while though, it's going to be warm(ish) again for the next 10 days apparently.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2018 21:03

Yes, just a tiny taste of winter :)

Titsywoo · 20/11/2018 21:06

Snowing here in East Surrey again but it's pretty slushy

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2018 21:08

I'd have a look where I am, but I'm draped in cat.

bellinisurge · 20/11/2018 21:23

Wow. We get warnings here about the Snake. Was out of the area all day so missed them.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2018 21:57

That's a pretty decent effort Grin
