Snow watch!

I know it will seem quite crackers to start this when the weekend has been so lovely, but we are starting to get some model consistency on GFS for the potential for snow Friday night into Saturday as a northerly plunge looks set to take place.

Primary risk areas are obviously for hillier parts of Scotland and also Wales, but higher ground in the south and south east including over dartmoor and down the east coast may also see some sleet or wet snow.

Nothing here yet. The local FB page has people moaning that the schools closed early for nothing but considering it was carmageddon here last week it's hard for them to make the right decision. Eldest DD is supposed to be at Uni in London tomorrow so has made the decision to go today and stay with a friend for the next two nights just in case. It's the waiting as we all know it's coming but not when! It doesn't even look like it's going to snow.

Not even any rain here yet in Kent when met office had >95% rain predicted earlier this afternoon, awaiting to see if any snow comes later.

so i'm confused! Met south east forecasts (or at least the bit I'm looking at!) now have less snow forecast than previously, but newspaper reports say 2 " in south east this evening. Has there been a sudden change for the worse (from the pov from someone who wants to travel tomorrow morning!), or am I just looking at a different bit of the south east?

Rain and sleet all day in South Manchester. The Met Office app tempted us with the occasional snow flurry several times today but none have really appeared.

It’s 1C colder here (town centre) than it was at work (rural - on top of a hill), so I assume the temperature is dropping.

Glad people are seeing some snow just cold rain here in NE Derbyshire

I through the rain was to be expected before the temperatures drop overnight.

Rain here (Bucks) Facebook weather guy says snow in an hour or so as temp drops. It fell from 6 degrees to 3.5 just now on my way home.

Anyway, we’ll see what the night holds!
